After Tony passed out upon arriving in the luggage carriage, he remained unconscious for the duration of Basoon 13.

[Waking Up: For Ignis]

It was midway through Basoon 14 when Tony slowly became aware of himself again. He groaned softly as the first thing he noticed was how sore his whole body was. It wasn't the feeling of intense pain that he'd had before, but it was noticeably uncomfortable. He had a bad taste in his mouth and it felt like his eyelids weighed three tons each. He went still for a few minutes before trying again. This time he managed to open his eyes, but immediately regretted it. The light was blindingly bright and he winced in pain from it. A few moments of blinking at it, his vision gradually cleared enough he could make out a general blob shaped thing might be a person and this bed didn't feel like a bunk.

[OTA: Come Visit Him!]

Following the initial wake up, Tony alternated between napping and generally being bored stuck in the medical room. His strength was slowly coming back to him. Obviously the best cure for his condition is a bunch of people to come visit and annoy him.

It was later in the day than Tony normally got up and moving, but at least he was up and moving today. He'd let other members of his team deal with the breakfast crowd, but lunch had been salmon burgers, sweet potato fries, and a cucumber herb salad with crumbled feta cheese. He might have even impressed some people (no one in particular, just people).

However, all that was over and now it was dishes. He usually left these for the rest of his team to deal with but.. hell, he didn't need a reason. So he was elbow's deep in hot, sudsy water and pretending to not know a certain person was very likely to come in and join him.

Tony was finally both awake and alone! So Ash did what she does best: made each of them a cup of coffee and then showed up to sit and annoy him for a bit. Two mugs in one hand, she used her other to pull a chair up to sit next to him. She then gripped his mug by the rim and offered it to him so he could take the handle and not burn himself. All of this interaction was made easier because Ash had tied her hair up into a poofy bun that was nestled comfortably behind her ears.

"Be careful. It's hot." A pause, then more quietly: "I'm glad you're still here."

He had waited by Tony's bedside and would remain there for as long as it took. Ignis had checked on his team and they were none the worse for wear though he didn't speak to any of them.

The only time he left was to get ice water, not knowing if it would be needed or not. There were so many things he wanted to say and ask, but even if the older man had been awake, those thing would more than likely remain unspoken.

Looking over at Tony now, a relieved smile came over his face as he saw the eyelids blinking. And h couldn't help the touch of fondness in his tone as he spoke.

"I see you've returned to us."

Tony had been seriously contemplating locking the door and not letting anyone else inside. However, when he looked up to a shadow in his doorway, he couldn't help feel relief instead. "I'd say you were a sight for sore eyes, but then you'd mistakenly think I was talking about you instead of the coffee," he teased, flashing her a grin. His voice wasn't as strong as it normal was, but he retained the same terrible humor.

"Thank you, Ash. I'm glad I'm still here too. Those wizards weren't messing around."

He knew that voice and he he gave a weak smile. "Despite my best efforts.." He retorted in a weak, scratchy voice. "Where are we?" He asked, words a little slurred.

Why was he waking up with Ignis next to him? He tried to think but his head hurt too much to concentrate. If his friend told him he'd been hit by the voidtrain, Tony would've believed him. There were few other times he'd felt this exhausted and he didn't want to think about any of them. He felt a wave of nausea as he moved his head and decided that was a bad idea. He'd just.. lie here and maybe Ignis could do the looking around the room for him.

"Your efforts of being a hero worked out quite well on the other hand" Again there was the fondness in the tone but it was a bit warmer.

"To answer ypur question, in the medical carriage and I have cool water if you'd like some." Moving out of his post by the bed, Ignis got up to sit beside Tony, but sat right back down in the chair instead. It wouldn't do to crowd him.

"If you're in pain, I can heal you." The other man didn't have a strong tone and the advisor figurd he must be in so much pain. But whatever the man needed, Ignis would provide it.

The medical carriage. That explained quite a bit to him, except for the most obvious question. Why? Try as he might, nothing was coming to mind. It hurt instead. Everything else hurt too. Why was Ignis talking so loud? There was movement too and he just didn't want any of it.

Except he might want healing. And maybe that water. He groaned as he tried to move to sit up. He muttered a curse as he couldn't seem to find the strength to do that. "Yes.. heal me. Can I have a caffeine IV too? Hell, maybe one of those awful Redbull drinks Peter's always guzzling."

Happy to be of service, Ignis actually got up this time and helped Tony to sit up by sort of sitting behind him and letting the older man lean against him at the same time. "Healing first, then I can get you the water. And I'll have to out for the coffee."

Placing a hand against the other's back, the advisor bore as much of the weight as he could. "Just tell me where it hurts." He figured the answer would probably be 'everywhere' but he wanted Tony to give him a place to start.

As if Reigen hadn't had enough people to fear for the lives of this week, Tony Stark had to go and nearly get himself burnt to death along with the city. The absolute nerve. He would have let Tony have it right then and there for playing hero like that, but he couldn't really do that when the guy was passed out for an entire day and a half. On the bright side, that meant Reigen had plenty of time to work out exactly what he was going to say when he had the chance to give 'Mr. Stark' a piece of his mind.

Some point during the day when Tony was both asleep and not currently occupied with someone else, Reigen invited himself into the medical car. "Hey. Guess you really are still alive." Walking over to the bedside, he set down a bowl of grapes and a mug of tea on the nearest table. Reigen figured he should have some sort of pre-emptive peace offering if he really was about to get mad at Tony. "You're supposed to bring gifts when someone's in the hospital, right? Hope you like fruit."

This was humiliating. Needing assistance to even sit up? What kind of messed up situation was this? It was mortifying to discover even further how little he could do other than run his mouth, and even that felt taxing. He leaned against Ignis, trying hard not to think too much about it. It felt safe and he was glad the younger man was strong and knew what to do without Tony having to instruct him.

He lifted a hand to his brow like he was lifting a 25 lb weight. "Everywhere." A beat. "My head.. but everywhere." Just as Ignis had predicted. "What the h-" It all came back to him in one swift all encompassing rush. He went quiet, stiffening and pressing his head against Ignis' chest with a pained expression. He was abruptly breathless and the room felt dangerously close to spinning, but it held its ground. "T- the tower.. Ignis! The kids? Wh- what happened?"

"Surprise." Tony muttered, looking up to see Reigen strolling in the door. Considering all those who could come through the carriage door, Tony couldn't say Reigen was someone he didn't want to see. "Hey," he greets more properly, sitting up. His voice wasn't as strong as it normally was and he looked tired for someone who had slept over thirty hours.

A single eyebrow rose seeing the grapes and tea. He'd been feeling nauseated earlier, but that seemed to have improved some as the sight of the fruit didn't make him want to hurl. "I suppose, yes. Thanks. How's the party?" He was definitely bummed he couldn't be there to celebrate with everyone else. On the plus side, he would be here for the next party which had to be something to be grateful for.

Tony got a silent nod as Ignis started on focusing on healing. Gently he put a hand on the front and one on the back of the elder man's head and started with healing. He wasn't sure what happened but as the other began speaking as if the emergency was occurring all over again, he had moved to face the other. And that's when his chest somehow was on the receiving end of the dark head.

"The children are fine, and everyone made it safely back thanks to you. So you needn't worry." The advisor didn't need the other fretting over something that was already resolved but there was a fond smile on his face as he'd spoken. With a soft sigh, he worked on getting as much healing done as he could everywhere else.

"I had.. I just had a really bad feeling.." He didn't lift his head from Ignis' chest, as though he needed the extra help blocking out the terrifying possibilities that had provoked him in the first place. Everyone was fine though. Everyone had survived. He could finally relax.

"No but.. what happened? Why had you fallen?" It took effort, but he put his hands on Ignis' shoulders and pushed himself back a bit to see his face clearer.

He moved back when Tony pushed himself against his shoulders and it took a moment. "I had stayed to make sure my team was safe and that everything was finished. I believe the blast shook the structure and I was unfortunately caught with nowhere to go but down."

Green eyes looked into dark ones briefly. "Thanks to you I made it." Ignis had no idea what would've happened to him if Tony hadn't come to his rescue. Mentally he could hear the guys back home chewing his ass but there were times he ran out of options and this had certainly been one of them.

Tony glared at him- which only sort of worked given how he was struggling to even hold himself upright. However, something in him gave him just enough strength to catch Ignis by the chin with one hand and so he could really scold him. "If you ever do that to me again, I will rescue your ass and then I will kill you. Got it?"

With that he took a shaky breath and whatever energy he'd mustered seemed to fade. He either slipped back against the bed or Ignis' support depending on how he was aided.

That was a look he'd never gotten and for a moment Ignis held his breath. Why was Tony holding onto him by his chin? He'd truly thought he was in trouble but then the other man said he would kill Ignis after rescuing him again. That sounded so familiar and he almost laughed, but then that gesture seemed to knock the wind out of the older man's sails.

Assisting Tony to lie down, Ignis got up and moved from the bed. "I highly doubt you can kill me in the condition that you're in. However, I will keep that warning in mind." Yes he knew that he'd been told if he did it again, but it was a scolding that felt as if it was rightly deserved even if it made him smile.

After a few moments of silence Ignis broke it. "Did you want me to get the coffee? I still have water here if you would rather that or I can leave and let you rest."

Tony had to be grateful for the help, but that didn't mean he couldn't tweak it to exactly how he'd prefer things. "No, it's too hard to look at you like that, grab another pillow and prop me up. Yeah, just pretend I'm the Raggedy Anne- never mind, you won't know that reference. That's better."

He gave a comfortable sigh of relief once he was up and could easily see his friend. "This is going to get real awkward fast if I have to pee," he joked. He really meant he hated all of this. He hated needing help and he hated Ignis was seeing him like this. It was easier to joke though than to deal with that.

"Have you seen Renee yet?"

"You missed the party of the century, fireworks and everything. You could have seen me jump out of a cake if you weren't busy sleeping." Reigen was clearly joking, of course. The smile on his face quickly fell to an uncharacteristically serious look, however, given what he had in mind coming in here in the first place.

"...I really am glad you're ok, Mr. Stark, don't get me wrong. I'm not gonna waste your time telling you that you could have died when we already know that. But I need to know: what the hell was going through your head that made you think it was a good idea to go back there?"

Ignis shook his head and began to get the requested item. As Tony had said, he didn't get the Raggedy Ann reference and wondered who that was. Maybe it was someone that the other man knew from back home, but the advisor personally had no idea.

Since he was basically at the other's disposal, he helped get the man propped up against the pillows and looking somewhat comfortable. The dirty blonde head shook with a sigh, leave it to Tony to say something inappropriate. Even with those kinds of things though, he wouldn't leave the older man's side unless told to. "I can help you as much as you require."

To the other question though, Ignis shook his head again. "I've seen her but I haven't spoken to her since being on the battlefield." Inwardly he sighed because he didn't want to go over the courting her topic again.

Tony hadn't been awake all that long. He was still feeling weak, but Ignis had been comfortable company so far. Tony was dosing lightly while Ignis read a book nearby. Tony had explained where to get it from his workspace and that it belonged to Peter, but since Ignis was being nice enough to take care of him he figured he could at least give the man some entertainment. He'd tell Peter thank you for it later.

"You sure you wouldn't rather be at the party or with the others?" He asked for the third time.

At the confused look on Ignis' face, Tony decided to clarify- it was better than focusing on what they were actually doing. "It's a very floppy, popular doll. My daughter Morgan dragged her around everywhere when she was younger."

How often were his examples lately stemmed from kid's shows or toys? Don't even get him started on that stupid shark song...

"I'm joking." He sighs. "How do you tend to deal with embarrassing situations like this? Stiff upper lip?" For once, that wasn't at all what Tony was referring to. "If you see her, let her know I want to talk to her. She was a great help during the mission, I want to thank her for it."

"And here I'd rather thought it was someone you knew." Ignis said, trying not to let the other get the better of him. He didn't want to think of Tony naked regarding the earlier bathroom comment so he made himself unnecessarily busy tidying up.

A sigh escaped him as he looked at the older man about the stiff upper lip. "You saved my life, so the very least I could do is help you however long you require." Tony now needed his help and he would most certainly get it.

Relief showed in the green eyes when the subject of Renee was clarified. At least they weren't back on that topic. "I have to thank her as well. She was an immense help when my team needed it."

Ignis has no chance to answer before the medbay door fly open and Fëanor barges in.

"Tony Stark! Where, by the eternal darkness, have you been?!! People told me last time they saw you, you were flying in the direction of the burning city! I thought you have perished!" Poor Peter was his first thought. The kid would be devastated if anything happened to his mentor. But here in the bed is the man himself very much alive if a bit... unwell.

Fëanor realizes that maybe he shouldn't be yelling. Well, too late for that.

He's about to answer Tony when an elf came rushing in and started yelling. Ignis had braced himself to defend the older man but so far it was just words. So he'd stay out of it unless he had to step in.

Keeping his eyes trained on the newcomer, Ignis tried to figure out who this was but from the words spoken, the newcomer had simply been worried. So he shook his head and spoke in a calm voice.

"He went back for me."

So if there was the brunt of any anger to take, he'd handle it.

Tony had managed to get himself propped up on a pillow by now, but he still looked like crap. The raging elf sure made quite the impression as the tall man came bursting into the room. Tony's eyes widened and he looked up, but it was barely a moment before he was relaxing into a comfortable smirk.

"Aww, Feanor, darling. So sweet of you to worry your pretty little pointy ears for me." The snark was all Tony, but the voice sounded weaker. "Have you met my new butler, Ignis? Great references, but he's a bit overpriced."

Tony chuckled at that. It remind him of his plan to take Morgan Disney World and on the way he was planning on hiring someone to play Raggedy Ann to join them. Next year, he'd said to Pepper. If he'd only known..

"Ah, so you're doing this out of obligation. Well, that feels nice." Tony rolled his eyes. He'd saved someone only to immediately become their burden. At least he wouldn't have to hear about being owed anything else.

He was so caught up in his foul thoughts that he missed the reason for the relief on Ignis' face. He saw it, but he'd already mentally moved on so he didn't know what it connected to. "It wasn't exactly a fair fight for you. Your team was lacking in ability to back you up. That wasn't right and our first council meeting should be fixing that."
