Alice tries. The moment he draws her in like that, and tells her to take a deep breath, Alice does something that's very much uncharacteristic for her at any other time. She shuts up, doesn't give any quick witty remarks in return, and instead just listens and actually does what the other person is saying.
So she lingers there for a moment in Crowley's arms. Just trying to take as deep of a breath as she can right now - which is to say, not very deep, but she's trying. She doesn't want to look this upset and vulnerable either, but it's so hard when she's confronted with one of the things she fears the most.
It's also why answering his questions is so hard. Even Alice doesn't know what she needs, what would work the best in this situation. She's never had anyone talk her through these situations, after all, so this is entire new to her.
"Um, I.. I don't want to see it.."
At least she manages to avoid adding the too-desperate 'please' after it, even though it's kind of reflected in her tone all the same. She's not sure she could handle actually seeing the fire at this point.
"We can go back, as-- as long as we're safe. As long as we're far away from it. I.. I trust you."
That much is true. After everything they've been through, Alice absolutely trusts the demon with her life. No matter how much they may bicker under the usual - slightly dumber - circumstances.
