Lapis is wrong.

Demyx wasn’t trying to kill her. If he was, there was no way he’d lose in a battle of wills like that, where she was able to appropriate all of the water summoned by him and taken by her for the attack.

Admittedly, he was a little impressed.

She didn’t have his kind of style. She clearly wanted to hurt him, although the feeling wasn’t mutual. Demyx didn’t even like fighting!

His reaction time was a little too late, a little too distracted before his ‘I’m going to die’ mechanic kicked right in. There was no finesse to this at all, he raised water with a sharp note to deflect as much of that heavy rush of water so it at least didn’t hit him and hopefully slow down the rush before it crashed into the platform and sent debris everywhere.

Demyx didn’t care what he hit with that deflection, just that he didn’t end up battered and broken on the platform. In his haste, although the speed at which the water was traveling diminished a bit, it shot out in various directions. He wasn’t entirely successful, catching another small dunking, but she was right about one thing.

Demyx wasn’t smiling anymore.
