it definitely suited the mood though... (CW: End Stone Ocean spoilers)

Emporio swallows- briefly looking up to wince before ducking his head back down again. The fact that it's a question as to whether he knows makes him think of the conversation he had with Alice not so long ago. About things children were supposed to do- things they were 'never' supposed to 'have' to do.

He addresses the last matter first, partly because of that. "...it feels strange... ...I... ...it isn't that no one cared for me, where I was before. But here, so many have suddenly been worried about what could happen to me, or even that I'm here at all..."

The boy shudders somewhat, but wills himself to answer.

"...Pucci-" If he is to act like Dio and Pucci do not know the other, he must explain who Pucci was, he realizes. "There was a priest named Pucci- he wanted to make a world where everyone knew their fate, from the start, to the end, where they followed it the entire way. I don't know...why," the boy admitted. "...he thought it was the way it was meant to be somehow- that...it would be better for everyone, I guess."

He pauses.

"...he killed... ...so many people to try it though. Even the ones who didn't know what he was doing... ...when they fought back... ...when we all fought back, he cornered us in Cape Canaveral. Everyone had their backs together, waiting... ...I..."

The calm he tried to hold together fades, with a crack and a sob. "...I blinked...and everyone was bleeding...but time was moving too fast, and they died in seconds...! Even Jolyne...e...she had longer, but instead of getting away, she..!"

...she'd saved him.

She'd saved him, and he can't even bring himself to say it aloud.
