Orange Team Meeting

It's shortly after the morning breakfast rush that Eva uses the ICP to remind Orange Team of the meeting. "Orange Team, please report to the Music Carriage for a Team Meeting in roughly an hour. It isn't mandatory, but we do encourage everyone to attend. If you want to bring snacks, please do. Otherwise, see you there."

Once again Eva's commandeered the top of the Music carriage, given the number of people in the team, and notably, she has Lele out, the porygon2 set to record the meeting so the minutes can later be printed out.

Food-wise, there's there's a packet of snacks and far too many oran, pinap, and cheri berries across numerous bowls. Otherwise it's bring your own snacks.

"Thanks for coming, especially when this wasn't mandatory. We intend this to be both a meeting and meet-greet-mingle." Eva offers a smile and a short bow. "It's been a while since we last had a meeting, so for those of those who don't know: I'm Eva Iden'no, one of two Leads, and I'll allow the others to introduce themselves. I just want to say that with a mission coming up soon, it's a good idea to know what skills we all have, you know? I know we have a survey somewhere around here, or did? Or we can come up with a new one. Whatever works for the team."

There's small shrug. Honestly, she's not sure what's become of it. "Anyway, I've been on the train since the beginning, and my skills are mostly pokemon-related. This just means I tend to play bodyguard where needed, or hang around as an extra pair of hands for people who know what they're doing. If you've any questions, feel free to ask them, or find me later. "

She steps back to allow the other Leads to speak if they want.

Eva, later on - OTA

When she's not Doing Leadery Things or Socializing, Eva can be found nursing a mug of some very spicy juice (cheri and pinap berries), a distant look to her eyes.

Though rather than take up valuable space by having the rest of her team out, Eva's dropped her pokebelt and the attached tennisball-sized 'balls (pokeball, premierball, luxurayball, and levelball) onto the table for anyone to have a look at. "If you want, I can send one of them out? Or talk your ear off about Lele?"


Roro can also be found hovering by her shoulder, cycling through a number of different pictures, including Princess, 'Nona and Dancer's.

There's a wistful if not thoughtful look on her face and when approached, everyone gets a sheepish blink or two when she looks up from the phone. "Hmm? Sorry. Lost in thought, I guess. What's up?"

Senku - OTA

When it was his turn, he stood up, rubbing the back of his neck. "If you don't know me, and I'm not sure that counts for anyone, I'm Senku Ishigami. Senku's fine. I'm a Junior Lead so I'm kind of like back up if Eva and Curufin are indisposed."

He shifted a little bit. "Uh, apart from that I do a lot of pre-mission prep in the kitchen, more people could always help with that. I'm the resident scientist who's trying to get the heck out of here, and I'm also one of the medics. I'm a doctor at home, I take shifts in medical and you can get me for mundane and magical injuries or illness, whether I'm on shift or not."

Senku waved a bit. "That stuff might be less interesting than this. Tidus spoke to me about mission supplies. Not enough people are taking them out. The potions are meant to heal you if you get hurt and they have other things such as manadrives that can cast protection spells on you that are easy to use and do not require magic. Everyone take a potion. Don't die. That's it."

He sat down, if anyone wanted to talk to him, they could.

Kaiba is one again grimly silent during the leaders' talks. There's a part of him that still bristles at being under others in the hierarchy...but he'd had his chance at leadership and respect and blown it. That leaves him to raise his hand like some school kid after the main speeches. When called on, he takes a breath and straightens.

"...my name's Kaiba. Welcome to the newcomers, hello again to the people who are sick of me. I have an offering and a request."

He first holds up his arm, with a black and blue techy gauntlet strapped to it. "When I held my tournament recently, I procured an extra Duel Disk. Normally this device is used to display holographic images of creatures from my card game, but I can also reprogram it to display other holographic images by building 3D models on my laptop. It could be used, for example, to make battle plans or train medics. If you want to borrow it, just let me know."

After a moment, he speaks again. "Item number two...near the end of a monnth, the train often holds a poll on what car we would like added, whether it's for entertainment, relaxation, or practical use. As most of us are aware, such a poll was held recently and a car for our romantic couples won the vote. Congrats to them, but there was another long-standing request on the potential list: a laboratory car."

He's trying to keep the wistfulness out of his voice here.

"I know not all of us are tech-inclined, and not all the tech-inclined are here on Orange, but we have the biggest cluster of them, given our train purpose of non-combat missions. As far as I know, the train only keeps options on subsequent polls if they continue to be requested to the ICP's suggestion box. So if you have any interest in building things that will support our efforts, or if you just want to keep us out of your recreation cars...consider adding your voice to the list. Thanks."

Looking spent, he sits back. In the general mingle, one might find him lurking toward the back, fiddling with his duel disk. A very small hologram of a certain blue dragon hovers at his side, wings flapping.

"Wait, there's no engineering or lab space here? What if the ship, or something big gets damaged? Or what if something needs to be tested?"

She shakes her head then puts her hand up to it like she has a headache, "Are we just supposed to fire off things in the kitchen?"

Curufin -- OTA

"Hello, I'm Curufin Feanorion, and I'm a co-leader of this team. I've been gone from the train for the last few months, and I've only just returned. Thanks to everybody for coming, and to those who are new, welcome to Team Orange!"

He smiles around the room. "I'm a warrior, and I fight on nearly every mission. I'm also an electrical and mechanical engineer, and I usually participate in whatever is the technical part of some of our missions. I have a few magical skills as well. I'm willing to teach the first two, just let me know and we can meet in the gym to practice fighting skills, or for technical lessons we can bring some equipment to wherever we're going to use for lab space."

He hasn't forgotten about the survey. "I have some copies of that survey that Eva mentioned. I'll have to go back to my room and get them, and I'll be available after the meeting to hand then out. If you're new, there's no requirement that you fill one out, but it would be excellent if you did."

Just before the end of the meeting, Curufin hustles back to his room to get the surveys and to make more copies. He goes to the door of the Music Carriage's top level where the meeting is, and waits for anyone who wants a copy to fill out. He's also up for answering any questions if the new team members have any, and for conversation with anybody who feels like talking.

[OOC: The survey is in the LOGS forum of this game, voidtreckerexpress, and it is two posts above this meeting post. Sorry I can't link it, I'm still wrestling with the settings of this laptop, since my desktop computer crapped out on me and I still have to get it fixed. It always put the exact URL of a post above in the address window, but the laptop doesn't do that. If I can locate the right setting, I'll edit this post. Meantime, the survey isn't that difficult to find.]

Entrapta hasn't met him yet. But if he's an electrical and mechanical engineer, that's pretty great! Something in common. (She's not great at telling if 'something in common' will automatically mean 'friend'. She does get that it means 'leader' in this case, at the very least.)

"What kind of technical equipment do you have? I have a magical scanner. I've also built us a combat bot and Devero and I have been working on drones to donate to the teams!"

Selenay smiles as she steps forward, every inch the politician she's been raised to be. She never thought she'd miss having a position, but now that she's stepping up--however temporarily or ceremonially it might be--she has to admit (to herself and no one else) that it's sort of nice. Maybe it's just something she's gotten so accustomed to that it feels a little bit more familiar--a little more like home.

"My name is Selenay. Like Senku, I'm a junior leader, but I don't want any titles to make anyone think any of us are unapproachable. I don't know many of you, but I assure you, I'm more than happy to talk with anyone, and I think that goes for all of us. Please speak up if there's anything you're concerned about, or if you have any ideas you'd like to discuss. While I can't speak for all of us, I can say that I don't even bite." Haha.

"I'm usually easy to spot in the Whites, if nothing else, and it's doubtful you'd be interrupting, but please feel free to come to me when you need me."

As much as Selenay can't say she's happy that anyone is here, she has been missing people lately, especially after the river. She's not glad that Curufin hasn't managed to escape after all, but she is glad to see a friend again, even if they may not know each other all that well.

"It's good to see you again. We were all worried. Although my condolences on finding yourself here again, I suppose?"

"How confidential are these surveys meant to be?" Bacon asks, with a small frown. "I... well, I signed a non-disclosure agreement when I first started interning with my job. There might be things I can't say."

"The train itself, at least the outer walls, seem to be made of a nearly indestructible material. Not even our strongest attacks can dent it. But that's right, there's no dedicated working space."

He looks a little frustrated about that. "I'd try squeezing into standard, or maybe one of the gyms when it's not as busy."

Even though they haven't formally met, he knows her name because they've been in the same spaces at times, the train having a limited number of cars and none of them being very large. He's heard other passengers calling her by name.

"Hi, Entrapta! Have I got your name right?"

He'd be pleased to make another friend, whether it's based on having things in common or not.

"As for technical equipment, I've collected various devices while on missions and pulled then apart to scavenge wires and connectors and electrical components to use to teach basic electricity. I found an oscilloscope and an ammeter on one of those expeditions, so we can measure current and voltage when assembling experiments. You might want to ask Kaiba, too. He has some equipment and materials and he teaches basic electronics, which he knows more about than I do."

He looks interested. "What does this magical scanner scan for? You built a combat bot? Have you had a chance to test it on a combat mission? And you and Devero are going to provide us with drones? That'll be interesting and useful."

Curufin turns and sees her. He breaks into a big smile. They may not know each other well, but he's very glad to see her.

"It's good to see you too, Selenay! No need to offer condolences, though. I'm happy to be back on the train. It doesn't feel to me like I'm finished here, and I'd like to continue helping the train with its missions and its own journey. And besides, if I'd gone anywhere else, I'd have missed my friends here, including you."

"Hello!" responds Curufin, with a friendly smile. "I don't know your name, I'm afraid."

"As for the surveys, you don't even have to fill one out if you don't want to. But as for confidentiality, we do keep them, but we won't let anyone else read yours if you just write 'CONFIDENTIAL' on the top. And if while you're filling it out, you come to a question that you'd have to violate that non-disclosure agreement to answer, just write, 'Sorry, can't answer because of confidentiality.' But remember, your employer isn't here and will never know what you said or didn't say."

"Yes!" She sounds delighted at being recognized for no good reason other than knowing people acknowledge her as being around. This is apparently enough to brighten up her day.

"I talk to Kaiba pretty often. He's already met Claudette- she's currently in the gymnasium. I plan to leave her there so that if any fighters want to practice with her they can. She's got top notch Horde shielding and I added regeneration capacity. I also am going to outfit her with an item carraige system so we can use her for deliveries!"

That way they can send something to a different place via mechanical dinosaur.

"But right now she only has the combat portion done. Next mission will be her alpha run. Devero and I were considering offering two to each team. They would be operated with VR headsets and allow someone to work with hardlight holograms- like the ones from previous missions -in dangerous locations."

She's been happy to be active, okay!

"Bacon," they say. "Frankie Bacon. Though, uh, that's not the name on my ticket."

It isn't just about their employer, but referencing the NDA is a lot easier than saying that some of the stuff they know could allow the assholes who'd attacked Io to finish off everyone else on Mundus-Chimaera—on possibly all the Mundi—and they can't guarantee that no future Orange Team leader won't be a Griefer.

Rich is actually seating in the Music Carriage for quite a while, and seems to be staring a bit at the form Curufin game him. He looks... quite hesitant, honestly. It's hard to tell what's bothering him, but he does look like he has to swallow hard a few times, before eventually giving up and approaching Curufin.

"... Sorry. D'you mind if I put this back?" It's still completely blank. Someone else can probably use it.

Rich, for his part at least, looks quite guilty.

"Sorry... I didn't even pay attention to that survey. It was the first one I saw, and I assumed there was a lab to work in somewhere, so..."

He wanted more video games. Because he is a child, of course.

Kaiba shakes his head gently.

"I wasn't asking for an apology. I doubt one vote would've changed the tide...there's an insatiable thirst aboard this train, it seems."

But he's really trying not to go off on a rant on that topic. He takes a deep breath before continuing.

"It's not as if we have much in the way of materials or large objects to work on that would necessitate the space right away. We can keep it in mind as we go, that's all."

For a few long moments, the blue woman is more interested not in breaking Eva's reverie, but in observing the Pokemon that's out, brows arched but yellow eyes narrowed slightly. These Pokemon creatures are something she's never encountered before, and Hecate is patently fascinated.

"You could give me a run-down on Pokemon--it is Pokemon, right?--in general, and then if you'd like to talk my ear off about this Lele, go for it!"

If nothing else, Hecate was a decent listener--if a bit impatient, at times.
