"Well...keep bonking me over the head, metaphorically speaking. Eventually I'll learn? I hope?" Because honestly, these are two entirely separate people with no ties to his past, telling Xander the exact same thing that people who knew and were there for a lot of it telling him the same thing.

Xander ducks his head a little. "The compassion thing kind of comes easier. I don't think I could've ever managed as what the Artificers wanted. The empathy would probably choke me more than a little bit. Unless they overrode it--they managed to implant stuff like that in other clones, but..." Really it was his healing that killed that. If the machinery couldn't stick...and they hadn't wanted to try to break the healing with genetic therapy. It was too useful.

That, Xander agreed with, though. He looks over at Seto with something like a grin. "You are stubborn. But even you got worn down. But if you can, so can I, with what the scientists who made me tried to make me believe. Even I can be taught!"

At least his normal humor seems to have reasserted itself quickly, too...
