[OPEN] Red Team Meeting

Who: Otoha and Red Team + people who wander in

When: Evening, Merriment 18
What: Red team needs to be informed of recent developments, so Otoha calls a meeting.
Warnings: Can't think of anything other than excessive brooding.

A short video post appears on the network on Merriment 17. It’s Otoha, looking tired and not a little frustrated.

“Red Team meeting in the training gym tomorrow evening. Lightning’s gone, so we need to talk. Healers are welcome to come, same with anyone who ends up on our missions a lot.”

He doesn’t stick around for responses.


He’s never called a meeting like this. He can’t help but feel a little nervous, but he hides it behind an impassive mask. His posture is loose and casual - there’s no need to loom here. Not yet. There's a few plates of finger food - mostly sandwiches and cookies.

He waits for people to filter in before speaking up. “Thanks for showing up. The name’s Otoha - can find me in room upper 1A. As you might or might not know, Lightning - our team leader - left this last platform. I know Red’s not big on organization or groups as a rule, but we at least all gotta be on the same page.”

"So, as things stand now, I'm willing to take responsibility for the team unless someone else with more experience in this sort of thing pipes up." And not Zetta, hopefully. "Right now the stock of healing items is all right as far as I can tell - purple tends to manage a lot of that and they set up before missions that we get warnings on, so always stop by and grab something. Really the only instructions I can give you are 'don't die' and 'call someone if you need backup' because - I mean, I just told you to not die."

Otoha looks over at any of the healers who have shown up and nods to them. "These guys - uh. These people are some of our healers. If you want to introduce yourselves... ? And if you have any specialties."

He looks around at the assembled group and nods at them. "So. Anyone else got any questions or concerns? We're a team, we're supposed to work this shit out together."

"That's it. Stick around if you want." He shifts towards the side, away from everyone's gaze.

Otoha, for his part, sticks near the wall. He knows a lot of them prefer to stick near the wall, but this spot is his. He's got his arms crossed and looks... pretty tired. This whole thing took a lot out of him, from organizing in the first place to talking in front of people.

Elidibus has attended as this is nominally a meeting for his assigned team and also the first one he's heard of assembling.

It's hard to say whether he's impressed; he has a good poker face.

Once Otoha opens the floor to questions though, his is fairly immediate.

"The matter of leadership and the habits of this team's individuals aside, is this all there is to the meeting?" He doesn't sound disapproving or judgemental. Rather, politely curious.

Judgement can come later!

"I'm Thanatos, Death Incarnate. I can heal using this manadrive." He raises the arm with the device strapped to it. "It's a device from Lightning's world. I don't know if these can still be purchased now that she's gone."

And... that's all Thanatos says. He's not usually this robotic.

He meets the other's gaze, a little unsure but masking it well.

"It's also to get to know people. Can't fight effectively alongside someone if you don't know them. We've had some new people since we last had a meeting. I'd prefer if we could meet and talk strategy and get to know each other when we're not getting attacks raining down on us."

Kiyoiri hasn't actually spoken to Otoha before, and suffice to say she was not identifiable as one. Actually she's not even identifiably 'red'- she's wearing spider provided clothes, thank you.

She does however, immediately move closer to where any majority- if there is a majority within the category of 'red healer's- stand.

"...Matsuda Kiyoiri," she introduces, blinking slowly. Takechirou perches more stiffly, behaving for the sake of things. "I practiced basic field medicine with the help of Miss Nightingale, and can use a small amount of magic to prompt faster healing from the body," she explains, somewhat nervously glancing across the crowd. "...I'm hoping to buy my medical pack before the next mission, as well."

Bucky/Soldat | OTA

Soldat is the source of the cookies, and the coaching for the sandwiches from Otoha. They're here as much for Otoha's moral support as because they often sub into Red team-- it's clear they're not Red team, because they stick out in their clearly purple clothing.

But they're trying not to lurk, like so many other Red team members do. Once the main meeting part is over with, they bring the plate of cookies around to everyone, offering it to whoever looks interested. "Hi. I'm Soldat. I work with your team a lot."

Kiyoiri isn't dressed in red either. Granted that's because she's gotten some cute dresses and things from Kumoko, in neither of the primary team colours, but still. She does blink at the purple, but simply nods when Soldat explains.

The crow on her shoulder takes a moment- "SssssOOO....SO! So-so!" New sounds!- while Kiyoiri herself nods. "Matsuda Kiyoiri. It's good to meet you, 'Soldat'."

After a moment, she adds- "...I am 'new'."

MOrdin's wearing his red polo because he has no compelling reason not to. "Mordin Solus. Trained as physician. Familiar with many species."

He pauses. "Also gentecist. Less combat relevant."

"Oh boy, I get to do this again." He snorts. Thanks, he hates it.

"If I go down, no one use a potion on me, no one use necromancy on me. I'd rather die, and take that from someone with experience. It hurts. Just patch me up the normal way."

He tried out the potions the first time and ended up with little burn spots on him. Which felt great. Looks like he found the one thing his serum can't handle.

Death glances around the room. She's dressed in black because she has the option and red has Connotations. And yet here she is. "I'm still not sure why I'm on this team. I'm really not a fighter."

"Welcome to the train, Matsuda Kiyoiri." They eye the raven, a little uncertainly, but let it be. "If you have any questions nobody's answered yet. I've been here a while, and might be able to help."

Ah, a familiar face!

"And I am an emissary," Elidibus answers. "Though I can fight, it is not what I generally choose. It's clear some 'teams' are more easily defined than others."

Red hoodie, red polo check. No reason to go out of the way for fashion here.

"I understand the previous leadership's departure may have played a part in the delay. Yet if you intend to lead and be seen as a leader, you will need to do more than gather us in a room and ask that we speak for ourselves."

Make no mistake, there's no censure in his tone. Elidibus half turns and gestures about the room.

"If the new haven't attended, make sure we are aware of them. How many people in this room do you know personally?"

In a moment where people might be offering a bit about themselves and their skillset, the Ascian offers something of his own.

"I am Elidibus," introduces a particular man dressed in the standard polo and hoodie of the train uniform.

"I am a sorcerer of considerable skill and this form is capable of great martial skill if needed." Elidibus stands largely still with his arms at his side and a calm expression. He glances briefly at the healers that might be left in the room still.

"I am also able to provide support and healing. You may consider me able to adapt to a situation's needs. However my true strength lies in guidance."

He's been quiet. Just listening, and observing how the team interacts with one another and is organized. When this man spoke up, Atem couldn't help himself from walking over. It may be simply that Otoha has never organized groups of people, but also. Well, Atem imagines managing a group like theirs might be difficult in general.

Still, "I agree." He steps forward. "If we are, in lamens terms, the fighters of the group it is also important to know who can do what. For those that are new especially. They may not know where to best apply their skills and there's little time between visions and action."

"Not enough. I admit I'm not the most social of people." He gestures towards Atem as he speaks. "It's also not easy to get the sort of people on red team together in a room. I'm sure you noticed how many of us like to brood near walls."

There's a hint of laughter in his tone - he knows he's not excluded.

"And I haven't led a group before - spent my life taking orders, not giving them. But if we don't have someone at least coordinating everyone, wew're not going to be that useful."

As Atem joins the conversation with his own two cents, the Ascian shifts his attention to regard the man with interest and curiosity. There is a sense that he's studying Atem, though that largely goes for anyone that entered the room. Elidibus is good at observing things and taking notes.

The man returns his attention to Otoha and offers a nod, accepting the answer for what it is.

"If you wish to step into the role, even if it is naught but to catalogue our resources and direct an agenda at meetings, then you must push past your normal boundaries and take a more proactive stance on the matter."

It appears to be nothing more than advice, though as this began with the floor being opened to questions, another is asked.

"What are your current plans to organize, precisely? If you are not one who normally leads, I would hear more of what you will be doing in the coming weeks."

Well, though he is without his regal wears Atem holds himself as such with an impressive presence for someone so short. There are other things, too. Things beyond what simple eyes could tell were anyone capable of it. A radiant light; with darkness lurking deep within.

Something of a smirk crawls up over his lips, though. "Yes, I did consider this." The whole... difficult group to corral part. He drifts his gaze to Elidibus and then returns to Otoha. Again, considering whether he should divulge information or not. He is not sure he wishes to take up this mantle or even offer to aid, but. Who is he fooling? Of course he does.

"I perhaps know even less people than you, but I do know how to lead. If anything, I could offer my help." A head nodding to Elidibus, also curious of these answers.

"I'd appreciate advice." His shoulders relax a little bit. Having someone help would be... helpful.

"In the next few weeks? Planning on looking at who needs combat lessons. The majority of us are fighters, but some aren't. Some of us also might want to cross-train." Since when did he use words like that? Ugh.

"I want us to be prepared in case something like the last mission happens again - caught without supplies and left to fend for ourselves. Some people can magically make weapons appear, but again - a lot of us can't. Hand to hand's important, so is working with improvised weapons."

Takechirou only wishes he was as big as a raven. Alas! Small, small friend.

With a small smile, Kiyoiri nods. "Thank you. I heard that Red Missions are considered 'dangerous'? Are there a lot of medics in the team?"

Sorceror and Healer...

Kiyoiri and her crow nod. ...Well, Kiyoiri does. Takechirou just caws. "It's good to meet you," she greets, she herself dressed in non-uniform clothing. "...I hope to also help with medical support; I have basic training, and hope to have my medical bag soon."

She's bracing for anyone to perhaps request she go to a different team, though. Between her young appearance (She's only 13, and even the train can't agree there!), and the reputation of Red Missions...she admittedly expects it.

"...Were you in charge of a team, where you came from?" He said his strength was in guidance, so...
