Late at night was when Shadow functioned best. And, well, he liked to read. He hardly needed light to do it either, so late at night reading was common for him to do. It kept him occupied and from disturbing others.

But he was still more than aware of people around him, and movement. So when someone comes into the library late at night, he looks down from his perch on top of a shelf. It was a kid.

....it was a kid sneaking, which was a whole lot odder. Who sneaks in a library?
