Leia had thought it was going reasonably well until she felt the stab of heartbreak from Clef. But she was just as baffled as Link at why his words had produced such a reaction; it had sounded perfectly reasonable to her. But then, she wasn't coming into this primed to hear things any particular way. Clef and Link had both come into it inclined to think that the other thought the worst of them. Link may have been starting to shift slightly away from that, thanks to the pen, but Clef... Clef apparently hadn't.
She had been about to attempt to translate when Link did the job for her, for which she was more than willing to let speaking outside his turn slide. Rather than try to explain Clef's problem to Link right away though, instead, she opted to make sure Clef was still with them. "Clef?", she said simply, resting a hand on his shoulder. Hoping the touch would bring him out of his shock if Link's words couldn't do the job alone.
