[ While Jin Ling did have those experiences with his close family, the rest of it was kind of just that. Regardless, he was happy to spend it with family as well. He enjoyed those intimate moments, given that his parents are deceased and weren’t around for any of his birthdays. Maybe one day he’d get a chance to experience a birthday with his parents. It was hopeful and wishful thinking, but Jin Ling was a bit optimistic about it. After all, if his father was alive in one of these strange places, why couldn’t he think they’d be around at some point in the future? If Sizhui planned anything with all the people Jin Ling knew and was close to, he might end up feeling extremely touched and maybe crying a little. He’s not too difficult to please at times.
Oh he definitely does! He doesn’t think it’s all that great but he was proud of them enough to give to Sizhui.
That meant they were acceptable to his standards. Sometimes Jin Ling could be such a perfectionist about small details. Jin Ling wasn’t sure how Sizhui would react to his gift, but he could only hope it wasn’t anything too bad. Sizhui was nice and friendly. For whatever reason, he made it easier for Jin Ling to converse rather than argue. (Though regular banters are fun too.)
Fairy was having the time of her life, enjoying the dog eared rubs. There were happy barks for Sizhui with her fruit splattered face. She even manages to give him a lick or two for affection. Yes, such an invasive spiritual dog, but Sizhui had no one else to blame but himself for giving her too much attention his time. Even Jin Ling had to make a face at how affectionate she seemed, though made no move to stop the dog from giving his companion doggie licks and all. Back to the conversation, Jin Ling had finished his cookie and it was probably one of the best sweets he’s tried in a long time. It wasn’t too bad and he honestly could eat another ]
Fairy, if you keep doing that he’ll fall over! [ He lightly scolded his friendly companion. He didn’t want to be blamed, if Sizhui ended up with some injuries. Of course, since Sizhui was the only one here with so many sweets, he figured he might as the obvious question too. ]
Did—you make them or something?
[ It was out of curiosity. Jin Ling couldn’t say he was good at the cooking category. He was able to pass barely on days. Others, he rather not talk about. Something, he’d probably have to get used to. Though, he understood that baking was different from cooking. He played with Xixue for a moment after he let go to eat that cookie and balance the box that was eventually pushed into Sizhui’s hand. Jin Ling looked the other way, feeling quite awkward. Not because he had an issue with giving or making the gift. Rather, it was something out of the usual for him and he still struggled with what sort of expressions he should be making. Jin Ling obviously couldn’t say much! He just kept side eying Sizhui as he watched the other reach to the box and opened it. ]
They’re… paper rabbits….
[ He looked a little flustered still. ]
Of course they are! I made sure they were—
[ Okay, no time to really throw a tantrum. ] Anyway! Happy…Birthday..
