The exaggeration does get a laugh out of Tidus, short as it is, Tidus looking at him with a grin.
"If you were that lonely, you could've come and helped me cook!" He nudges him, elbow to elbow. Then he lowers his voice, not to a whisper, but from the level it rose to. "It sounds like to me you like waiting."
He turns his head away, to emphasise: "Sounds like I should keep you waiting - how about we meet up next week?"
Because saying 'how about we do it' is a little too obvious, in case anyone's listening.
