[cabins being switched around isn't anything new to sizhui, who's had so many different rooms at this point, he's lost count. ending up with jin ling as a roommate is just a plus to sizhui because it means it's easier for him to bother his friend whenever he likes— as long as he's around, anyway. there will definitely be times that isn't the case and he'll end up having to go find him, but even then, he won't be too bothered for an excuse to leave his room.
today, however, he wants any and every excuse to stay inside rather than miserably wandering around, trying to keep his spirits up when they're so extraordinarily low at the moment.
(the odds would have to actually be calculated out for proper circumstances, though there's clearly a chance it could've happened, given people are roomed four to a cabin!)
he'd been hoping the other boy would be present, despite a small part of him believing he ought to mourn alone, and yet the other half (the stronger side that knows it's okay), it always wins out in the end. today is no exception, which is why he partially brightens at the sound of jin ling's voice, a soft, relieved sigh passing his lips before he responds,] Good, I'm glad to hear that. [even though he's the exact opposite of that while considering what he'll ask next.
firstly, sizhui collects the hairstick from off his pillow, tucks it into place to hold his messy bun then he does a neat heel-turn, makes a beeline for jin ling's bunk and all but tosses himself into it, one arm around the other boy and the other clutching fairy's neck while he softly inquires,] Are you okay?
