A holiday's for sharing! As in, Sarai's making treats for Valentione's...

It isn't much of a surprise to find Sarai in the kitchen. Her current mission seems to be...making more sweets. Not that she isn't perfectly capable of producing a true meal--just wait until it's the purple team's turn to work culinary magic!

But for now, it's sugar cookies and more chocolate. Not necessarily a far cry from her Starlight endeavors, save for a different vein. Equally festive, sure, but these aren't the spice cookies and snowy cake that she'd been creating back then. Now, it's heart-shaped cookies frosted with pink, individual-sized glazed rolanberry tarts, and one familiar thing--bubble chocolate!

Also, she's organizing them into individual helpings--Sarai's doing her best to make sure there's enough for everyone on the train--with a generous extra portion, because she's well aware that there are a number of sweet tooths aboard...

Just another little Eorzean holiday that she wants to spread around the train! Though watch the bard laugh when she finds out her little holiday is a lot like an Earth holiday that's closing in...

Though he looked absolutely ridiculous applying frosting to cookies with hands that could probably crush a kettle whole, nonetheless his work was every bit as good as Sarai should expect it to be. He'd lost none of his touch after all this!

"I think I'll still be working when you pass these out, except as a bodyguard."

"Fooooooooooooood"

When there is the smell of treats, the hungry teenagers shall appear.

Kaito almost floats into the kitchen, sniffing.

"Oh, maybe, unless the kitchen gets inundated first. It could happen, you know." Sarai couldn't help but chuckle at that, though.

"I just enjoy the way everyone seems to enjoy it when I make treats, though. I don't do it that often!" Though it did seem to mirror some of the holidays they knew on Hydaelyn. She'd skipped Heavensturn, yes. But that was more a Hingan holiday. At least, in Sarai's mind, it was.

Peals of laughter greeted Kaito at that--but Sarai pushed a tart into his hands. Teenagers were always hungry--that was why she'd made plenty!

"Just followed your nose, did you?" she asked.

"We could, kitchen allowing. Our days aren't exactly full." Dread huffed at that. Compared to Warrioring, this was downright boring. A vacation was nice, but this was getting mighty tedious.

"It's true, I'd just worry about depleting certain supplies before we hit the next station, you know? That's about the only worry, though honestly, if we had some raw materials, it's not like I couldn't make flour."

She could grind grain. It'd be tedious too, but not as tedious as it was to be sitting around with nothing at all to do...

"I almost wish we could have a crop car." That would do a lot to pass the time, tending to some plants. None of that would be bad at all. "Think we should try suggesting that through the system?"

"We could, if that idiot book wasn't still camping out in the garden car. It's a garden car. He belongs in the library!"

Sarai grumbled at that. She still hadn't quite gotten over the fact that...practically everyone else on the train just let the pompous, overbearing blowhard book just squat in a car that was supposed to be for everyone...

"More rocks in there than I'd like." Not much in the way of terrain by his way of thinking. "And who knows how far down we could go."

"I have no idea. I suppose we could suggest it...but also would the powers that be, such as they are, even give in to that idea?"

There's some truth that it would help them be more self sufficient as a whole. Especially if Sarai could grow both flavoring herbs and medicinal herbs...oh, to have the seeds she'd left behind on Eorzea!

Still, she shook her head. "I guess nothing ventured, nothing gained, is what I'm looking for here, is it not?"

"I don't know if they would, but that's exactly what I meant. The worst that can happen if we ask is that we're ignored."

Heck, even a direct 'no' would be a lot more than they ordinarily got!

"Oooh, you're the best, thanks Sarai-san!" He sniffs and scarfs the tart, pausing only to blow when it's still hot.

"Smelt great." He agrees shamelessly. "Tastes better."

"Really? Valentine's Day transcends universes?" Tony asked, humored as he comes into the kitchen. He was coming in for coffee, but it was impossible not to see what was going on in there- particularly by someone who is notoriously nosy.

"Valentine's? No, it's Valentione's Day! It's another Ishgardian celebration, like Starlight..." Then again, Sarai mused, it seemed like quite a few of those came from Ishgard.

Well, the Elezen knew how to party, she supposed.

"It's named in the honor of Countess Arabelle de Valentione. If I recall correctly, she was a devoted patroness of true love in her time, regardless of if it were between noble and commoner, that sort of thing. Which, in Ishgard, is still almost unheard of and often the subject of scandal," Sarai explaned. "And she's not a contemporary by any means. We're a few centuries out, at the very least."

Though the Au Ra shrugged. "Some people say nowadays it's a more commercial holiday, engendered to bring income to the Kukui Grower's Association and the Culinarian's Guild, but even the Botanist's Guild in Gridania gets into the action, growing all sorts of flowers...it's a day to show gratitude and affection!"

"Well, I hope so. I try to use fresh ingredients when I can get them--not that I'm absolutely certain when the holiday really is, but my Starlight treats went over well enough."

If the train can get rolanberries, well. No reason that Sarai can see to not request them as a regular staple. Worse comes to worse, they can always make jam out of it or syrup. She's hardly stingy about sharing these sorts of things.

"I made extra, if you've got a few empty spots that need filling." That's said with a chuckle.

"We ought to make sure that something like that isn't in the works already, either, but really, I don't see anything wrong with it. And you're right. I just don't want to step on toes, I suppose."

Not that anyone would be seriously injured if she did physically step on toes...

"Do you want to inquire?" Because it wasn't as if Sarai wasn't the type to keep herself busy already...

"I always have empty spots." He says with a grin. "But I will behave and not eat too many, since I'm sure there are loads of hungry people. What's in them?"

Unlike her husband, who was best experienced with reinforced steel boots on his clumsy days.

"Yes, I will." He was less needed here than she was, so a moment to do that wouldn't break the holiday plans.

"Rolanberries, mostly. At least for the tarts. The cookies are just frosted sugar cookies." With real sugar, not crystallized maple or birch sap. Sarai will never stop being astounded by the culinary inventions that the train has shown her...

"I'd say eat all you like. I certainly can make more!"

She was more than capable of frosting cookies while Dread was away--she just knew that he was as fond of her cooking and baking as some of the others on the train, so Sarai was simply doing her best to ensure her husband got his fair share, too!

Dread walked off, but only for a moment -- making the suggestion was easy enough, after all. She wouldn't even be halfway done before he got back, nodding to indicate the deed was done.

"Dunno Rolanberries - am guessing they don't exist in my world. But yumm frosted sugar!"

He grins and helps himself to another. "Don't mind if I do! But I probably should bring some to the others."

"Interesting. Ever wonder how we have some things that are the same and other things so radically different from our worlds? We have St. Valentine, though why that story as dissolved into a holiday about love and presents, I don't know." It was something he'd never cared about knowing or else he would've known the full history behind it.

"What are kukui And what.." He paused and tilted his head to the side. "Is that?" He pointed at the bubble chocolate.
