Post-Ice-World Mission+new arrivals---Domino Day 18ish [Open To All]

Post the ice-world mission, Raven had finally succumbed to whatever it was that had been going through the train before. Blame the exhaustion from being one of the Healers and also the exhaustion+exposure on the ice world. Which meant Raven hermitted herself even more than she might have otherwise. Keeping her backpack with her at all times (since it has important to her items in it), but otherwise keeping the hood of her Train-uniform up and keeping to herself.

Checking herself into the Medical Car even, in hopes that it would help keep her from being sent back to her room every morning.

With her ability to teleport and phase, she's been all but a ghost in purple-and-black train uniform, avoiding people save a chosen few. Unfortunately new people are loud, and the emotions on the train have been far from 'peaceful' lately. It's given her a near-constant headache.

[I have two specific thread-ideas, as I come off of Hiatus. Feel free to reply to them. If you have an idea for another one, hit me up via PM?]

OOC FOR NEW ARRIVALS We probably have new arrivals who can sense weird things, or similar. Raven is an Empath, a powerful one. She's also a skilled and powerful magic-user. She keeps to herself and values privacy highly, but she can be 'sensed/registered' etc through things like the Force. Usually I use a description/idea of "Dark feathers and quiet" for her. Feel free to Ping me in this journal if more info is needed/desired.

Thread Option 1--A rare encounter-with-a-sick Raven. This is mostly for close CR/trying to help her get better. Be warned, she'll probably be more prickly and stand-offish than usual.

Thread Option 2--A sighting/encounter with Raven on the 'train' at large. She is not a happy Empath at the moment, as well as dealing with being sick. [I promise, I'm a sweetheart. She however, will not be at all.]

Ignis is in the medical car at the moment. It was a conversation he and Tony had had. While the advisor would claim he was no doctor, he was in there at times to see if there were any healings that he could do. It made sense too since he'd once healed Harry Hook in here at Renee's request.

So as he's about to get up, Raven appears which stops him. "Well hello Raven." There's a smile on his face but he's concerned of course. She doesn't look quite like herself, something's off.

There's only so much you can avoid roommates though, right? Sure, Madoka has noticed that Raven has been around less than usually. And while at first she wants to respect the other girl's privacy, after a while she does start to worry about her. Is she okay? Does she just need some time to herself? Is something overwhelming to her?

Madoka frets and frets about it, hesitating on whether or not to actually go look for the other girl and ask her. Would it be rude or not..

But then one morning she can spot the other girl - maybe after Raven had been sent back to her room in the morning? - and Madoka just decices to go for it. Her worry is too strong to be stopped by her politeness at this point.

"Um.. R-Raven, hi.. Do you have a moment, maybe..?"

When Nita spots the purple-cloaked teen, it's as if there's a spectre of darkness around her.

She can't help but wince.

"Hey," she says softly. "You okay?"

She's hugging her Manual to her chest, something she's gotten in the habit of since joining the Voidtrecker Express, and looking at the stranger with a cautious, curious expression.

Terra was walking by with some tea. He was still working on trying to not make it so strong but this batch he'd whipped up seemed to be going well. So well in fact, he was leaving it for people to try after hearing it really wasn't bad at all.

So he set out some sugar and some type of honey and all he could think of was the honey pot shaped board he'd used for the Command Board. But as he finished putting up a new set of cups for anyone to grab, there was a face he hadn't seen before.

Hidden as it was by a hood and a mask, his first thought was Aqua. But no, that's not who it was.

Raven was more out of it than she'd realized, since she hadn't noticed his presence--or anyone else's, in medical. At least Ignis was one of the few she wouldn't automatically snarl at though, while she wasn't feeling well. Valuables (mostly her cloak/cowl and the book of Azar) in her backpack along with her usual stuff, she's bundled up in her hoodie with the hood up and carrying her blanket and pillow too.

"Don't get too close, or if you do--make sure you wash your hands. I think whatever hit the train finally got me."

Her voice is quieter than usual, and a bit lower from her fatigue+illness.

There IS only so much you can do, especially when you're also helping one of those roommates learn how to meditate and be aware of their own energy. At the question, and hints of stammer, Raven in the process of pulling up her hood from her hoodie (and bundling further into it) there's a wan and tired hint of smile.

"Everything okay?"

Her voice is softer and lower than usual, with fatigue and illness. Bundling her own blanket and pillow, along with grabbing her backpack, so she can go isolate herself and try to not get others sick.

Less cloaked than usual, although the train's uniform hoodie did a fair job with the hood up, of imitating her usual dark-blue cloak/cowl. Raven is less than pleased to realize she hasn't been as aware of others, either by her usual means or just in general, with her sickness. Hand against a wall, dark-energy swirling around it as she prepares to continue her phasing and journey to Medical, when she pauses.

"...just ill. Last mission took a lot more out of me than I expected."

Keeping her head-down, voice lower in tone and quieter than usual. Must be one of the new arrivals, as Raven doesn't recognize the person from what little she can see. She must've missed that, while trying to heal in her isolation.

Less a mask than a hood's shadow (while not as deep as her usual cloak/cowl) from her train-uniform's hoodie. Keeping to herself, and while she was slowly starting to feel better--Raven felt it better to keep to herself as much as she could until she was no longer contagious.

They didn't need another round of that; it had been hard enough to keep contained the first time.

"I see." His voice was thoughtful and patient and he nodded. "So if you're down with whatever the train had, I suggest plenty of bed rest and I will make you some soup and tea. Should your stomach be agreeable I can see about more than that."

His eyes searched around since he'd seen freshly laundered blankets come in not too long ago. Getting up, Ignis moved to retrieve two and he placed them near her.

"That was my plan." Reflexive snark at this point, with a hint of coughing at the end as Raven ducked her head close to her chest and brought an arm up. The last thing she needed would be to get others sick. "As long as I rest, I can knock it out and heal myself. Don't wanna infect others."

Hence why she was in Medical, isolating herself if she could and heading to the second compartment. It seemed set-up for a patient convalescing, and she'd stay there for now unless a greater need happened, or she was better. She hoped--it'd be her luck to end up back in her bunk.

"Tea please, I have a water-bottle that's personal too." Using her powers, dark-energy opening the backpack and floating over a purple-water-bottle to Ignis. "Right now, I want a meditative sleep and then I'll eat when I get up." Taking the blankets though, and more use of her powers to set herself up a nice little nest, of sorts. A sparse one, but it'd work.

He didn't know what to say, but she didn't seem interested in talking for whatever reason. Terra just didn't want to intrude on her silence but he could be a friendly thing. So he just stayed quiet until the hot chocolate began, followed by these little snack cakes that were being made.

So he made sure they were near her and tried a tentative smile. "These are really good, so's the hot chocolate."

For good measure, Ignis used a potion on Raven and watched as the dark energy appeared. Once that was over and she was setting up what looked like a nest, with her name it appeared to be a thing. So he started pulling curtains around to give her a little more privacy.

"I'll go and fetch your tea. Should you require more blankets when I return, let me know."

"Wasn't sure at first if they were for anyone." Raven murmured quietly, voice still low and quieter, but at least it didn't sound as scratchy. Her coughing had been minimal, if annoying. "I'm just here for some tea for now."

She really wasn't usually one for any kind of nest; but she didn't have her own room or space on the train, and she was inclined to hide in the blankets and take what she could while sick. "Not cold, just...miss my own space."

She hadn't meant for that to sound as young as it made her sound. She, like Ignis, was used to being the mature one. "Thank you."

He smiled briefly at her. "I understand." And he told himself if he got sick he'd camp out here too, might as well make use of the space and privacy, not to mention the solitude. No one hung out here because they wanted to. So it was a thought for another day to deal with.

"You're quite welcome. I'll be back in a few minutes." He'd return with soup too, so he turned and walked out.

He almost got excited like he did when Ven first spoke but managed not to. "We've got plenty of that." Terra replied with a smile. Gesturing, he pointed out where things were. "Sugar and creamer are at the end, and honey should be right next to it."

"Oh.. yes!"

Madoka seems to fluster a bit at the suggestion that she could be asking that since something is wrong with Madoka herself. It's the exact opposite situation! But now she's actually faced with the other girl and Raven seems to look and sound so tired, she only feels more worried about her..

"I'm fine, it's just.. You seem really off, and you've been gone a lot lately? And.. um, I just.. wanted to make sure you're okay." She frets a little with her hands as she speaks, showing her worried nerves. "You know that if anything is wrong, you can always ask me for help, right..? That's what friends are for."

Hopefully Madoka will enjoy the rare sight of Raven being flustered too; eyes wide, surprised expression with her mouth open slightly. Then she's quickly turning her head down and bringing her arm up, as a coughing fit takes her again. Trying hard to not get Madoka (or anyone else) sick.

"Whatever was going around the train finally caught up to me. I'm trying to not get anyone else sick, while I take time to rest and get better." With a weak smile, as hopefully that'll answer Madoka's question.

If he got sick himself, he'd BETTER make sure to take care of himself. But hopefully he wouldn't, and Raven was trying to do her part to keep him from getting so, by avoiding direct contact. Her powers were useful for that.

Settling in under some of the blankets, with one wrapped around herself almost like a make-shift cloak. Her backpack was placed under her pillow, and she was grateful for the curtain. In truth, she'd prefer being in the quiet-car, but she didn't want to leave germs there.

Don't worry, Madoka is being responsible and keeping her distance when Raven coughs like that anyway! Even though she wasn't hit by the void flu before like a lot of other people, she's at least learned it can't hurt to be careful. Especially since she might be vaguely aware at least some people would freak out if she was sick.

(It sucks that she can't hug her friend this way though.)

"That's no fun.." Poor Raven, she thinks, and you can practically read that off the expression she has on her face. Or the waves of sympathy that are just radiating from her, really. "Can I maybe do something for you? I could make some soup.."

"You caught a cold or something?"

That sympathy just increased a notch or two.

"I'm not specialized in immune systems, but I can do healing, if you want a boost."

The offer is genuine.

She's sick, but that excited-enthusiasm spike wasn't hard to see even without her Empathy. "You must be one of the new arrivals." Her tone was dry, but Raven made an effort to not make it sound mean. Moving closer, helping herself to a cup and finding the supplies with ease.

Raven didn't even need her Empathy to read Madoka, even if she was well. "Mostly I'm just trying to avoid getting others sick." Pausing, head tilted in thought. "I'm not sure I'm up for soup yet, although Ignis also offered?"

"I'm a healer myself. More worried about infecting others, so isolating myself. I'll be alright with rest and focus." The sympathy was obvious, and Raven couldn't sense any deceit--but she also wasn't at her best, and knew it.

Nita nodded.

"That's reasonable. Gotta take the slow path here, huh?"

"How did you know?" Terra asked, suddenly feeling shy and exposed. Maybe he ought to curb his enthusiasm, not that he normally had much of it. But he was trying to be good to those around him and besides, it didn't hurt to be nice to other people honestly.

He couldn't go into how happy he was that he was making tea better than he was before. That would look too weird.

Ignis made tea of course and set about tossing together a quick soup. When he got in the kitchen and got 'in the zone' he could be pretty frightening. So he made real quick work of things in order to procure a soup and get it all put together.

Setting about a small tray there was tea and soup and a little snack just in case. Just tea wouldn't do at all, so he definitely tried to make it a more rounded out meal.

Bringing it into Raven, he tried to be quiet just in case she was sleeping.

There's no real surprise in knowing that Ignis offered her soup as well. Really, that sounds just like something he'd do.. Not just because he loves cooking, but also since he just takes care of everyone so well. Even people outside of the blue team, apparently, since his offer went out to Raven.

"Ah, you should probably get it from him then once you feel like it.." She giggles, but it's a bit awkward. "He's much better at it than me! His soup is so yummy.. Y--You should really try to eat some soon though, okay? Even if you're sick, it's important to eat well..!"

"I promise, I'm taking care of myself, Madoka." Raven tried to reassure, politely ignoring the awkward. "And if you can help, I'll ask."

Ducking her head shyly, wishing the hoody's hood was more concealing, Raven smiled softly. "I'm...honestly touched by the concern. Thank you."

"I've been very out of it for the last few days, during which we stopped at a station. I also don't remember seeing you before." Not that Raven could claim she knew everyone on the train, but she'd had a fairly good idea of what most of her fellow passengers looked like. Tea poured, Raven stirred a bit of honey into it.

Not sleeping, just meditating--one blanket pulled around her and up like a hooded cloak. Ignis gets a faint smile, reaching for the tea first. "Thank you. I really will be alright with rest and my own healing."

He nodded. "Guess that would do it. So what about you? How long have you been here?" He was trying to divert the conversation from himself much like he did with Riku on the beach all of those long years ago.

She's keeping you to that promise, Raven! Madoka thinks Raven is really smart and mature, so she's probably good at making sure she's well taken care of.. but she won't be pleased if that trust is broken. There'd be a lot of pouting and sad puppy eyes. No one wants that.

Madoka is promptly distracted by the other girl's reaction though. After all, she's smiling, and seeming kind of bashful, and.. oh gosh, then she says something so sweet.

It almost feels like a crime Madoka can't hug her right now. She wants to so bad.

But even though she can't touch the other out of fear of her getting sick as well, she at least smiles at Raven very warmly. "You don't have to thank me.. That's just what friends do! I'm sure you'd be really worried about me if I was sick too.."

(She'd have to get in line, really, but Madoka is much too humble to actually think that.)

"That's why I'm trying my best to stay healthy."

"I'll be okay." That isn't exactly an answer to the implied question from Nita, but Raven really doesn't care right then. She really just wants to be left alone, except...

"New arrival? Have you talked to Tony Stark yet?"

Don't think Raven doesn't recognize that tactic. While she's feeling only a bit better, she's very much not feeling social still. "Have you talked with Tony Stark yet?"

Obviously Terra failed in getting Raven to answer the question, but regardless he's happy he doesn't have to talk about himself directly. So he can definitely answer this.

"I did."

"Yeah." Nita knows what those predictive statements sound like.

Then there came a wry smile. "He was more confused about my age discrepancy than my being a wizard."

Though at least he hadn't said she was too young for the power.

"It's been well documented the train pulls us all from different times, occasionally, as well as different worlds. Or the same worlds too." Raven would also not say anything about her age or being a wizard. It was registered, but given how her head was feeling that was about it.

"He's taken it on himself to be the 'leader' of the train, and responsible for all of us. Depending on what team you're on, there are also other leaders who've set themselves up to help newcomers."

"He's appointed himself one of the leaders of the train, and can help you settle in. Depending on which team you're on, there are other people who've set themselves up to be leaders and can help."

This is her trying to anticipate and answer his questions ahead of time. So she can have her tea and go hide in peace.

Raven can tell, and she's still honestly touched by Madoka's friendship. Her Empathy isn't even needed to read her friend. "I'm...still getting used to having friends." A soft and quiet admission, slightly shy. Then Raven's having to stifle a cough again.

"I definitely don't want to stop you from being healthy. I'm gonna go rest now, but I appreciate you checking on me. Feel free to talk with Ignis too, since he's in full Mother-Hen mode as well."

Madoka nods slightly, not wanting to hold the other girl up if she feels that it's better to go rest somewhere by herself. Although the initial admission makes a small smile appear on Madoka's face. Not because Raven is still getting used to it - she should have been submerged in friendship from the beginning, rather than just having to get used to it now! - but just.. because it's nice to hear her calling them friends.

"Okay. That sounds like him.." It's not even meant in a bad way. Ignis is just caring, Madoka feels like anyone would know that from interacting with him. "Take care."

"I've met the type before..."

Nita blinks as something clicks into place for her.

"Huh. That both goes for the train and for Tony Stark."

She shakes her head, moving on.

"I've chatted with Curufin, the new leader for Orange. He sure seems to know his stuff."

His head shook. "I already met the Blue Team leader and I've met Tony." Both seemed decent though obviously neither of them could hold a candle to Master Eraqus of course.

And if Raven wants to take off, Terra wouldn't think anything bad.

Raven just nodded; far as she was concerned he was all set. She was about to take her tea and go back to hibernating, before a thought occurred to her. "...do you have any healing ability?"

Raven nods, and does her best to offer more than the hint of smile she was occasionally prone to. Affirming and trying to show Madoka she valued their friendship too. "It's very like him."

He didn't expect her to stay around but it was nice to see her turn back. Terra was surprised at the question but he wasn't going to lie.

"Ya, I can heal myself and my friends."

That was good to know. "Make sure Ignis Scientia and Tony Stark know that. We've had very few healers, and sometimes the missions are more dangerous than we'd like."

He nodded. "I've let them both know." And at this point Raven was definitely telling him something he already knew but that gave rise to a question.

"Are they all..like that last one?" Terra wasn't worried about himself in posing this question. No. He was far more concerned about Namine and other people who just weren't fighters.

He could fight and had rescued various people without thought or hesitation for his own safety. But he worried about those who were not cut out for missions.
