February Catch-All Log

Even though Tony has cut back on his busy schedule, he still is sparring some and doing yoga often. It's not the relentless every single day at precisely certain times. The yoga, he attempts to do by himself now but given the number of people on board, that's pretty impossible.

(So come bug him while he's doing the warrior pose or using a practice sword!)

[Science lesson in standard car!: Open]

Since a little before the new arrivals, Tony has had several classes each week on both science and math topics. He's juggling a variety of skill levels, but Peter is his helper in most classes to go help anyone who needs it. Today, Tony decides to have a demonstration of suspending an egg between water and vinegar and breathing fire. He uses some charcoal for chalk and uses the front wall of the standard car as his chalkboard. When the demonstrations are over, he assigns some worksheets for practice. However, he also provides cookies.

(Bug him afterward about the demonstrations, cookies, whatever)

[19: Evening, Happy Birthday Ignis! (Invitation to ALL BLUE team plus- Reigen, Raven, and anyone close to Ignis (you know who you are and I can't think atm)]

Ignis had thought he was planning a dinner party with just Madoka and Tony. Of course, he didn't think Tony had remembered his birthday and he's the King of Extra, clearly this meant they should throw a surprise party. (Yes, another one). He didn't know what cake to make for a chef like Ignis, so he went with what Mady liked best, since that would most likely make his partner just as or even more pleased. So they had white icing with sprinkles and pink, strawberry, triple layered cake.

Tony had some of the kids help make party hats and confetti and got everyone who was attending into the dining car while he went to get the unaware birthday boy in the kitchen.

[A compromise, Day 20: Bucky, Ignis, Tony and Yuffie.]

Tony was a little skeptical of this approach, but he was willing to give it a try. He had a small bundle wrapped in paper in one hand when he arrived at the quiet car to await the teenager. He looked at the other two men with a sigh.

"Do we really have to do this?" He whined at Ignis, knowing full well what the answer would be.

[OTA: Just make up something and start it. I'm game!]

[P.S. For those observant types, Tony's hand is now missing the wedding ring he has had since coming here.]

Nita wasn't as much of a social butterfly as some people might think; she still very much liked to be alone sometimes.

Which meant, more often than sometimes, Nita could be found alone sitting next to a window, curled up with a book, and trying to discern the nature of the void.

/See, now, that can't be right,/ she could be overheard murmuring.

/The space-compression ratio just wouldn't be high enough... No, Bobo, I don't think this train is using that as a vector; we're not even talking about the same Powers here!/

Ignis had been going over his list and had everything ready down to the last detail. He hadn't mentioned his birthday but he'd already gotten the best presents ever. One was Madoka so those formal papers had to yet be written up. Drafts had of course been made to make it official and then would need to be presented to the council once the drafts were finalized.

The other gift he'd just received so he was wearing the band of gold Tony had presented him with. He would announce nothing, but he would simply wear it with quiet pride so he was in pretty high spirits. He'd had to wrap yarn underneath since it was big on him but it was fine.

Should the worst case scenario happen if Pepper appeared, the ring would go back to Tony and everything would be called off. Ignis would step back as he'd promised without a word and he would take on Madoka by himself.

However should Noctis appear, their engagement would remain in place as the advisor had no intention of voluntarily giving Tony up if the deal was on his own end of things. The older man would have Madoka if he went home and it worked in reverse.

These plans were subject to change of course pending his fiancee's judgment and input.

So when the older man came to bring him to the kitchen he acted as if nothing was amiss. Once he got there though, his green eyes got just a little wider and he turned to look at his fiancee'.

"Darling you..you remembered!"

He was strolling through the standard car, lost in thought when he overhears something about space-compression ratios. Immediately intrigued, he glanced around before spotting the girl he'd briefly met with the new arrivals.

Coming over, he flopped down in the seat next to her and gave her a grin. "You just said a sciency fun word, which summons me like a genie," he joked. "What's this about the space-compression ratio?"

Tony had taken the moment away from everyone to give his beau a sweet hug in greeting before simply taking his hand and leading him toward the dining room without a word. He grinned, clearly pleased when they were greeted with loud shouts of 'surprise' and 'Happy Birthday'.

"Of course, Tiger. I always remember the important things." He leaned in and gave the younger man a quick kiss. He left his arm around Ignis' waist as he turned his attention back to the crowd. "Sorry we're spoiling that dinner you so painstakingly planned for. The kids just really didn't we had enough cake around here, so my hands were tied."

Nita broke abruptly out of her train of thought at Tony's appearance, though his quip did get her to smile in return.

"Well, it's just, the train can't be deleting materials, can it? So I was trying to figure out what would be the most plausible way to store, say, all the extra clothes it provides for missions, or where it picks up extra carriages."

Despite being a wizard, Nita was not a person who believed 'magic' was enough explanation by itself.

"You didn't have to go through all the trouble.." and then the kiss he got cut off the rest. Sighing inwardly, Ignis knew what the other man would say so he just stopped.

Another sigh met the man's comments about kids and cake. If it was a certain pair of children, he could definitely understand how those faces could turn that particular thing into a need.

However it wouldn't go unanswered. "Your hands being tied would be a wonderful way to start off our shower later this evening." Of course this was stated low enough so no one but Tony could hear him.

Yuffie was now wearing more black after speaking with Spider and looking every bit the Ninja she had on Gaia. She still wore the shorts that she'd been given in her pack but everything had the familiar flare that she was accustomed too.

She was already in the quiet car when Tony and his boy band walked in. She didn't really know what she was doing or what the game plan was but she was making it up as she went. Yuffie didn't really have a clear read on the situation. It appeared to her that most of the people on the train didn't think like a ruler but like a fighter. It reminded her enough of Cloud to make her both annoyed and homesick.

That pointy blond haired boy always was a pain in the ass.

She at on the floor with her back against a piece of furniture. She was facing one of the car windows and looked like she was focusing super hard on something that was written on the area above the windows. Her eyes were fixed in place with her arms positioned behind her head.

She looked way more relaxed than she felt.

"Anything the birthday boy wants," he answered, with a playfully dramatic bow.

He took a step back. "Just enjoy your friends and family wanting to make your day special. There are snacks over there if you're hungry, we'll need to let you blow out your candles and.. what's this? Dare I say there will be dancing?" He said, gesturing to his laptop hooked up to something that might be a bucket turned into a speaker.

He turned away at the dramatic bow. Seriously the older man knew how to get this one to blush and he didn't want to do so in front of his guests so he'd turned.

"Blow out my candles?" Ignis looked back and grabbed Tony's hand gently. "You mean to tell me that you made a cake?" The green eyes got wider. "You're going to dance with me too?" Wait, did he do something really good to deserve all of this attention?

He caught sight of the laptop and his eyes narrowed at his fiancee. "So..does this mean that I get to choose the song we dance to since it is my birthday and I'm supposed to get whatever I want?"

Choose your words wisely Tony.

Was it Ignis' birthday or Tony's? Because Tony was having a blast and this party just started.

The older man turned Ignis lightly till he could see the pink cake with sprinkles on it. "Your daughter and I did. It's her favorite." He nodded as Ignis looked like he was seeing Willy Wonka's garden of candy for the first time. He hoped he could always surprise the man like this.

The question just had Tony's smile going all the brighter. "You, my darling, can pick any song you'd like.. that I have on my laptop and I will dance with you to it. I warn you, a good portion of it is Pepper's so I don't actually know what is on there."

He couldn't believe it. The cake was nothing like he would make himself but then when Tony said his daughter and he did it, that meant the world. "We should certainly find out when her birthday is as soon as possible." Ignis smiled. He dug his phone out of his pocket and smiled. That cake was definitely getting put into a photo.

His fiancee's smile was so bright and how he loved seeing it. Hopefully Pepper had good taste in music, and he wasted no time in taking the man's hand and going over to where the laptop was. Letting go of Tony' hand, he sat down. Since he was tech savvy, it didn't take him long to figure out how to get in and find the music.

Intently he focused on seeing what the playlists consisted of. "Which one of these is yours and which was Pepper's?"

Ignis had walked with Tony and Bucky. Bucky in some ways reminded the advisor of Gladio and that was why he'd been invited. It wasn't to stir Tony's anxiety because that just didn't need any help at all. But not knowing who or what awaited them, he planned for the worst.

As they walked along with only the sound of their boots on the floor it made him miss the shield and of course he missed Noct daily. Tony's whining brought him back to the present and the dusty blonde head turned to look at the older man.

Nodding, he gave the answer the other was expecting. "Yes."

"We should, but don't worry about that now. This is your time." He followed as Ignis went over to the laptop. He gestured to encourage everyone else to start eating and really, they'd barely waited that long.

He'd remarked rather loudly that the playlist was split between himself and his wife's, but at that question, he leaned in real close. His lips almost brushing Ignis' ear and whispered, "They're all mine. Just tell anyone that and I'll kill you." He gave a quick kiss and straightened up again.

Tony rolled his eyes and looked in one of the quiet rooms as they passed. "Oh, hey. She's already here." It was odd that she was sitting on the floor and looking at the window- er above the window, but whatever. People could be very strange here. He was glad the wall and door were made of glass so he could see if anyone else was waiting for them. "Here goes nothing.."

He opened the door and gave the young woman a nod. "Yuffie I presume?" He offered his hand. "I'm Tony. This is Ignis, blue team lead, and Bucky, uh.. well he doesn't really like me so we were trying to give you an ally for this meeting. Gentlemen, Yuffie, leader of the black team."

Madoka may still be a child, but she's at least understanding and tactful enough to first let Tony and Ignis have some time to themselves when Tony first leads Ignis into the surprise party.

But saying happy birthday as a group isn't enough for Madoka. So once Ignis does seem to have been left alone for a moment, the girl is quick to move up to him and practically fling herself at him in a hug. After Ignis hugged her first last time - although those circumstances were a little more dire than the usual - she's not shy at all anymore about just doing this with her dad.

"Happy birthday..!" The girl smiles up at him. "Sorry that we didn't have that dinner.. but, um, we thought this would be even more fun!" And they could still easily have that dinner at any other time, anyway. It's not as dependent on a single date as Ignis' birthday is, after all. And knowing how things usually are when she's with Ignis and Tony, she knows that dinner will still be fun anyway.

A moment later she pulls back entirely, stopping the hug, but it's mostly so she can hold out a rolled up piece of paper to him.

"I know it's not much, but I still made you something.."

If Ignis takes it and unrolls it, he'll find that it's a drawing in Madoka's characteristic style. It's of her and him holding hands, although she's definitely exaggerated Ignis' clothes to make them look extra cool. Like some kind of fantasy hero.

"Surprise!"

Romeo likes surprise parties. This is the second one this week and he's excited for it! He hadn't even known it was Ignis' birthday!

"Happy Birthday!"

Marcus hung in the back of the gym, dead set on getting stronger while he was on the train. The half terminator was doing his own weight training and punching a bag which was moving a bit higher than usual.

Focusing on himself wasn't something that came easily to Ignis but he would try, at least for today. So all he did was nod at the suggestion.

However, it took self control and discipline not to pull Tony's head down to make him follow through on that whispering tone he'd just used against his ear. The older man's hands were definitely getting tied later for that and that kiss too.

Green eyes searched and searched through the massive playlists. Most of the songs were unfamiliar and so he simply just kept looking. And it seemed when he was just about done, his heart skipped a beat at the title.

His hands shook a little as he previewed it and he felt like a little kid who's just discovered their favourite toy. "That's it!" Ignis exclaimed happily. Looking up at Tony, he pointed at it. "That's the song, that's our song!"

The song of course read: Florence & the Machine - Stand By Me

He was getting up to get a drink and go over and say hello and thank you to some of the others who showed up to be polite. But just as Ignis was headed over, he was attacked and held onto by a pink haired daughter. And since she's addressed him as 'Papa' he has no qualms or reservations about returning familial sentiments.

"Why thank you darling." the advisor replied, returning the hug. He shook his head at her apology and smiled. "This is quite fun, we can have dinner later, so no need to apologize. It means more that I didn't do it myself and my family thought to do something for me instead." A pause as he made a metal note. "Tony and I will do something for your birthday, but neither of us know when that is. But we'll do something for his..his is May twenty ninth so we'll have to figure out when that falls here."

Taking the paper after Madoka stepped back, inquisitively Ignis opened up the gift. He couldn't help but smile broadly at the drawing, thinking that he looked so much cooler in the picture than in reality. "That is incredible. I hadn't realized that my wonderful daughter knew how to draw so well."

Giving her a gentle heartfelt hug, he held on as he spoke. "And I hear you're responsible for the cake. Did I hear that correctly from Tony?"

Ignis turns his head at hearing one of the two boys he'd adopt on the train. Tony and Madoka really went out of their way to get his team here and make sure this was a special day for him.

"Well hello Romeo." the advisor greeted, always happy to see this boy's face. And then there was a broader smile when he was wished a happy birthday.

"Why thank you. But tell me, when is your birthday?"

Tony watched Ignis going through his music curiously. He wondered if he knew any of these songs. It didn't seem possible when there was a number of other things they were so different on- like magic and politics.

When the song was found, he looked at his fiancee confused. "You know that's a remix right? It's a little different than the original s- how do you know that song?" Although now that he was thinking about it, it did seem perfect for them.

"Well, Mr. Scentia, may I have this dance?"

"I know that song!" Ignis replied, so happy he found it. He didn't know how it was possible or by whatever means or magic but he'd found it and was running with it. "We heard it in the Regalia at the very start of our journey from the kingdom. We were broken down on the side of the road and it played."

At this point he was just so thrilled. Maybe it was a good thing that he hadn't danced with Tony that night.....

And that's when he saw Tony's hand outstretched to him and asking him to dance. He'd had to dance at the few balls the king held as Noct grew up so he'd taught the Prince how to dance. But nothing could've prepared him for the weight he now felt at being asked to dance by his fiancee'. It was actually funny that his engagement was so near his birthday and they were the only ones who knew. Madoka would know soon, but as of this moment at being asked to dance by Tony no one else here was aware.

Ignis of course was wearing the ring and wasn't hiding it, but he wasn't flashing it around either. And as he looked up into those beloved brown eyes, he knew he was blushing because the song was on and everyone could hear it. But this was their song and by the Six they were going to dance to it. So he gently took the hand offered to him and stood.

"Why yes you may Mister Stark." And Tony could have every dance thereafter for the rest of their lives.

Anyone watching these two would know or they were fools. For all of Tony's bravado and Ignis' need to be proper, the way they shared a smile like no one else was there should be the only clue anyone else needed.

He pulled Ignis into his arms and guided him a few steps away from the long table and bench seats to give them room. Standing tall and proud, one hand at the small of Ignis' back, the other holding the man's hand, and he swayed them to the music. He stepped easily into a proper dance like maybe he'd been to a ball or two in his life as well. His gaze didn't leave Ignis' face, so pleased that he had a song Ignis liked so much but also just because of who he was. It hadn't seemed possible or right when they started this thing, but now Tony couldn't think of anyone he wanted in his arms more. Sure he flirted, it was part of his inappropriate humor and charming personality, but all of that was empty jokes. This was where his heart was and no one had access to that but Ignis. He loved others on this train, but this tall, skinny man had the key.

As the music smoothly came to the end, Tony dipped the younger man. Drawing him back up, he pressed a kiss to his lips with more heart than he would've if he'd remembered anyone else was present- which he didn't.

This felt wonderful. Ignis was actually dancing with Tony in front of everybody now and to their song no less. Briefly he wished the lads were here to see this but it would have to wait. He was of course proper because they were in public, but as they danced he had such an urge to play with Tony's beard. He wanted to snuggle and kiss the man too but again propriety took over, their daughter was here somewhere after all, so they couldn't be making out on the dance floor. To him this was a combination of his birthday and engagement but he would play along with the birthday disguise.

Once their song was over and Tony dipped him, he turned red. The shade went a little darker with the kiss, but he gave it right back.

Thinking on their engagement, Ignis looked at his fiancee'. "We're not announcing anything for awhile though we should inform our daughter." It wasn't a 'we must' it was a suggestion. And as Ignis stood there he wished they would go on a mission together at least once at some point.

Tony blinked at Ignis' words looking a little confused before glancing around. Suddenly remembering everyone was there. "Right." It took another second before he concluded that wasn't the right answer to that question. "Yeah, soon. Just.. if I have to explain to you one more time today is about you you're getting in trouble!"

He put his hand on the small of Ignis' back again. "Care to cut your cake?"
