When does a detective do without cases
Who: Conan and Anyone
When: Day 4
What: Yet another day of being incredibly bored.
Where: Various
For Peter.
Tucking the package he'd collected under one arm, Conan sets off in search of Peter. There were things that needed to be discussed. (He didn't have much hope that Peter would be able to help him. But maybe a little hope was better than doing nothing.)
Gym:
Conan spends most of the morning in the gym car, kicking a soccerball against the walls. After a while he starts testing himself to see how many times he could make it rebound off the wall in different angles and still hit a target with enough force.
Game Car:
Later Conan moves to the game car and lays out a complicated game of solitaire. But... it only takes a few rounds to get bored of that. He starts searching through the game collection for any other single player strategy options.

Game car
He wanders into the game car and notices Conan rifling through the games.
“There’s a two player mode on that racing game,” he offers. “Want a match?”

He was also very, very bad at video games. The detective boys had often mocked him for it. And when normal first graders were laughing at your gaming skills, you know they were bad.
Finally he shrugs.
"I guess I could give it a try."
Maybe this one would be better than the last one he'd tried.

"Oh! Hey, Conan!" He greets in his usually cheer. He doesn't say anything about package in his arm but he does note that it's there.

Game Car
Kaito's voice comes from the ceiling, where he's hanging by his fingernails, clearly as bored as Conan.
Re: Game Car
"Its your game pick this time."

"I picked up the delivery you were interested in."
no subject
He wasn't expecting much.
"By the way, do you know someone named Aoko?"
no subject
"Ah, she's spoken to you? Yeah. She's my ...." my love interest, my best friend, my world "... childhood friend. We grew up together - you know her dad. She's Nakamori's daughter."
no subject
"Cool, cool. Let's see." He says, hold his hand out for the package. "Again, I wanna say I can't really make any promises-and I don't know how long it'll take-especially if I have to order some books for research but I'm deffo committed to helping you."
no subject
Most of which Conan wasn't sure what to think about yet.
"Does she know?"
no subject
"I'm not expecting anything to come from this," Conan tells him. If Haibara, who had worked on the drug for years, hadn't been able to find a cure yet, he didn't put much hope in anyone here who wasn't familiar with the research being able to do anything.
But to do anything was better than the despair of knowing that there was nothing he could do while he was stuck here.
no subject
He ducks his head and looks away.
"No. No more than you've told your Ran."
no subject
They were far too alike here.
no subject
He says quietly.
"Probably. Unlike you and Miss Ran... she hates KID. She... once she finds out... it's... probably over between us."
no subject
A grimace.
"I'm not so sure if Ran will take it that much better. I've lied to her, for a long time."
no subject
"Thanks." He manages a smile for him.
A shake of his head.
"Ran-san will understand. You're just trying to protect her. But Aoko... Aoko hates KID so much. I've taken her dad away from her, you see. And she won't understand the breaking of the law part either - she's not that kind of person. Especially since I can't stop yet."
no subject
no subject
"I do. But I'm breaking the law. Aoko... won't stand for that."
no subject
no subject
He shrugs hopelessly. "She believes in the law, and in cops and... yeah."
no subject
"That's quite some situation you've gotten yourself into."
He didn't believe in bad luck or coincidences. But... what were the odds that both of them would be in this situation with their childhood friends?
no subject
"At least yours is easier to get through than mine?"
no subject

He leafs through the notes-there's a lot of compounds he recognizes at least but a few he doesn't and few terms he'll need to look into, but he's still confident he'll at least be able to help.
"Fingers crossed, I guess."
no subject
He fully believed that he deserved whatever Ran decided after this.
no subject
"Yes, but you also aren't going around brazenly flouting the law and getting her dad shot at." He points out dryly.
"I think she'll be really mad at you, and probably hit you, but unlike me, I think you're in with a good chance at forgiveness."
Not that he'd want to be ANYWHERE near Ran hitting things, thankyouverymuch!
no subject
Hope was a difficult thing to have.
Also, Peter had had a terrible first impression of his competence. And second impression.
In response to Peter he simply nods. "Let me know if you need anything else.
