He should have asked before but he had been very overwhelmed at Inigo giving it to him that it had not occurred to him to wonder why it was such a special ring for Inigo until they were on the mission and Inigo had not been near to ask.

He hopes Inigo doesn't mind the question, he doesn't want to be nosy or prying. Doesn't want to force Inigo to talk about anything he doesn't want to. So he is still and silent as Inigo talks.

But once he does Taiki squeezes Inigo's hand even tighter. "Inigo... I'm sorry." He sounds completely and utterly genuine, if he could he would take such painful things away from Inigo. But all he can do is hold his hand and try and give comfort.

"It was very brave of you to let me carry it."

He's actually even more overwhelmed by how much trust Inigo had shown him.
