Who: Eva and You!
Where: Gym Carriage
When: Apple, Day 22, so forward dated a bit.
What: Eva Explains Pokemon.
Warnings: None yet?
[You probably noticed Eva at breakfast, head down, scribbling into a notebook furiously as she downed several cups of hot chocolate. You might have even seen some of the notes she was making, or even the start of something. Or maybe you saw Princess dive face-first into Eva's ignored breakfast. Whatever the case, she ignores anyone who approaches, Princess even going so far as to hiss at people he's otherwise chill with.
Sorry, this clefairy's human is Busy.
The answer comes over the Comm-system an hour after breakfast.]
Attention everyone. My name is Eva Iden'no. I'm a Pokemon trainer, and I'm hoping by now you've all see Princess. The smallish pink fluff around the train? Yea. That's him. Anyway, I'm holding a Q&A about Pokemon in the Gym Carriage today. I have a FAQ that you can read over too.
There will some demos on volleyballs and as much of a tech explanation as I can give too. Mostly I just a know a lot about pokemon.
Thanks, and I hope to see you here.
One
[For the first three hours-ish, Eva can be found around an FAQan FAQ that has been tacked to one of the walls of the Gym Carriage a wall. It's several notebook pages long, and Eva will allow people to take notes, but not remove it. Any and all questions will be answered as best she can.]
Two
[ It's demonstration time, and Eva has a number of volleyballs, and once she's certain everyone is standing behind her and Princess, she starts.]
Like I said in the FAQ, pokemon are capable of various elemental powers. Some of these I'll demonstrate more than once, but others, I won't. Not because I can't, but because I'm not going to destroy all the balls in the cupboard.
a- once only moves.
I'll show these two first, then answer any questions about them. All you have to do is stay behind me. Princess- Ready. [It's clear they've done something like this before, as Princess moves out in front of Eva, wings twitching with anticipation. It's with a steading breath that Eva takes the first volleyball and throws it high into the air away from herself.] Megaton Punch.https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mega_Punch_(move)Megaton Punch.
[It's hard to see if only due to the speed at which Princess moves even as the ball is thrown. What is clear though is that Princess leaps into the air and the energy filled fist of a Mega Punch slams into the ball. Said ball is left with a decent sized puncture and sent flying to the other end of the carriage, while Princess lands some feet from where he started.
Eva doesn't skip a beat as she throws the second volleyball.] Moon Force.
[Princess rears up as his wings glow with pale, silvery light. At the same time, glowing pink energy forms a rough sphere between his paws for a few seconds before it's hurled at the falling ball. Said ball is also sent flying, though when it comes to rest, it's clear there's only half a ball left.
If that.]
b- Repeated moves.
[These moves Eva will be showing off several times each as she can reuse the volleyball and she will be taking questions between each move (or after a cycle of all four). Said ball is placed in front of Princess, who's now facing everyone.]
Telekinesis. [Princess's eyes briefly glow a pale pink as the ball is lifted several feet into the air, where it will hang for about ten seconds before gravity is allowed to take effect again.]
Chilling Wind. [Unlike Telekinesis, Eva tosses the ball into the air, and Princess rears back on his hind legs and lets loose with a sparkling icy breatha sparkling icy breath. The ball is dusted with ice, and oddly, it seems to slow down, just a fraction, as it falls. As it hits the ground, the thin dusting of ice is dislodged.]
Non-battle Flash. [Even as she says that, Eva screws her eyes shut. Why? Well, there's a blinding flash of light from the clefairy for one. It's as if the sun were made into the flash of a camera, and blinking won't clear the spots away for at least fifteen seconds, maybe longer. That said, Princess is now glowing like a rather bright lamp and will do so for at least a minute before the glow fades.]
Unless you want a brief nap, cover your ears now. Sing. [This time, Princess is facing away from everyone. But, even as she says that, Eva plunges fingers into ears as the pokemon Sings, the air shimmering with purple energy that's directed towards the back of the carriage. But, just because it's not directed at someone doesn't mean the song won't put someone to sleep for at least a minute if they hear it. Thankfully, the song only lasts maybe five seconds before it fades out.]
Three
[By the end of it all, Eva be found copying the FAQ into several notebooks (and Likely adding more information) with a napping Princess by her side. Yet as busy as she is, she does look up as you approach. There's a tired, but pleased smile on her face.]
I don't mind doing this, but I want to figure out a way I can get it into the ICPs. I don't want to explain this over and over again.
[Or maybe you ask her how she thinks everything went.]
I think it went ok. It'd be easier if I had my pokedex, but I don't, so... [She shrugs a little.] But if you still have questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

two, a
She is definitely paying attention to the demonstration though. If not just because she can hardly believe her eyes. Sure, Madoka has seen intense magical girl fights, so it's not like she hasn't seen what's practically magic before, but coming from tiny Princess...
It's amazing. In a kind of scary way? But definitely amazing. Madoka's jaw drops a little as she watches, and when the Moon Force-d half ball lands, she just stares at it for a moment or two.
Then she slowly starts clapping her hands. This is the part where you're supposed to applaud, right? It feels like it. She needs to show her appreciation for the demonstration. ]
W.. Wow, amazing..! That was so strong!

There's a bright smile and a small bow to go with it, while Princess preens at the praise.]
Thanks. It's strong, but that's also because the damage it can do depends on, amongst other factors, how mature the pokemon using it is. Princess here is about ten years old.
2-B
Oh man. [Yeah, she's breathing that out, even as Princess finishes. She lets out a whoop that starts out loud, but cuts off quick--she doesn't want to upset the Pokemon, who, even if he's well-trained, might not like loud noises. She can relate.]
Okay, that was freakin' awesome!
2-B
Or worse yet. Exploud. Multiple exploud.
Princess preens at the praise, hopping over then sitting back on his hindlegs while Eva absently scratches behind one of his ears. Compared to all fours, Princess is big; easily over 2' tall.]
Thanks. It's saved our butts outside official matches more than not. Here... I don't know if it'd have much use.
no subject
So.. does that mean he's an adult in Pokemon years?
[ Ten wouldn't be an adult in human years, but Madoka does know it works differently for dogs and cats compared to humans! And that's the best thing she can mentally compare these Pokemon with. ]

I only saw cartoons about Pokemon when I was a kid...can I pet him? [Looking to Eva first, then crouching down to try to catch Princess' eye before even making a move at him, and asking him, too.]
May I pet you? I'm not gonna touch you yet, you can say no, I'm just holding a hand out so you can sniff me. [Then again, it is the one with the cast, too--she's pretty sure he won't take umbrage. but Renee is cautious, and she's trying to be polite! Even if 'saying' no might be a stretch, she's pretty sure the--pippi?--can get his point across.]
no subject
It does. He'll live for maybe another twenty years, too. Thirty if he goes to the pik'shī stage, but I think he's happy as he is, and honestly, thirty years is the average for the species. I've heard they can live up to fifty years.
no subject
You're from a world like Peter-san then? I know his world has some games with odd names, like Blue and Gold.
[It's what Eva's assuming at any rate as she simply watched on as her pokemon sniffs the hand, then decides yes, he wants pets and scritches from this new human right now.]
Either way, be careful of the wings and sticking to head and ears is probably better.
no subject
But it's such a good thing though! [ Her thinking frown changes into a smile as she looks at Eva. ] That just means you two will have a really long time to be friends..!
no subject
[Renee nods to Eva and lets Princess finish his investigation of her before petting him. She does end up giving him gentle scritches and pets--more as if he's a cat, so the top of the head, around his ears, and cheeks and chin, but being aware of, say, Pikachu, she's careful about his cheeks too, just in case. And if at some point he acts like he's done, she leaves off.]
Who's a soft boy? You are! [No, she can't help the silly talk.]
no subject
[She's not going to mention there are pokemon that can easily live for a human's lifetime or others that live for centuries. Nope.
So she takes that change in topic wholeheartedly.]
We will and we'll have even more adventures, I'm certain of it! Anyway, what's your name? I kinda announced mine to the whole train so...
[ahaha... it was worth it though.]
no subject
Congrats Renee, you have won over a pokemon. He likes you! And eva is trying so hard not to laugh. ]
I can't say I know that saying, but I think I understand, both it and not having the consols. I had a friend who was always borrowing the N64 to play Pokemon Brown. I ended up giving it to him, but when it came to Pokemon Coal, I needed to borrow someone's 3DS for it.

[She looks to Eva, then.] He does, right? [And then Renee nods.] I was planning to save up, maybe revisit my childhood when I could afford it, but...hey I'm here and that's not a thing, clearly.
So are you thinking about making plans to use his talents on missions and stuff? You sort of started in on that, and then...well. [They got to talking, not that that was a big deal.] I wouldn't want to put him in danger, but I think there might be a few ways Princess can be useful. Sing is one of them...probably Flash too. I'd want him to save his telekinesis for protecting you if he had to, personally. But, I mean, you're his trainer, you more than know what he's capable of!
no subject
I'm Madoka. Madoka Kaname, it's very nice to meet you and your.. Pokemon. [ Still trying to get used to that term! She thinks of them more as pets now, but it'd feel rude to say that if Eva doesn't call them that.. ]
It feels like people here on the train really come from very different worlds, right? I could never imagine creatures like these existing where I come from.
