Who: Madoka, her new kitty (Maru/Sleepy Ash) and you!
When: Day 2 of Fiddlesticks
Where: Everywhere on the train
What: Madoka is very excited about her new cat. And also likely making very bad life decisions for herself here by making a contract with a vampire.
Warnings: Likely mentions of vampirism.

(note: threads will mostly be between madoka and your character, maru might randomly jump in to pipe up on some threads, you'll know if/when it happens!)

If you've seen Madoka going anywhere on the train since yesterday, you may have noticed something new about her. Namely the fact that she's dragging a tiny black cat with her everywhere she goes.

Right now she can be found with it in the dining carriage, where she's seated at the table not to eat, but to instead draw in her notebook. She keeps sneaking glances over at the cat as it's sleeping on the table next to her notebook though, and after a while Madoka can't take it and giggles as she gently boops his face with the not-sharp end of her pencil.

"So cute.. Who's the most adorable kitty around? It really is you..!" She's staring at the cat with so much endearment in her eyes, but that's the exact moment where she looks up and only then seems to notice you being there too. Madoka's face immediately grows pink with a blush.

"A--Ah, I'm sorry!" Because apparently she feels the need to apologize for gushing over her cat publically..

Or you may spot Madoka near the on board train shop. Apparently she's been using it, since the girl's arms are loaded with way too many chips for one tiny teenage girl to eat. There's six different bags in her arms, and the tiny black cat is precariously balanced on top of her head. It seems to be going well.. until one of the bags of chips slips out of her hands, falling onto the ground.

"Ah..!"

The girl is trying to pick it up, but it's a difficult process with her arms this full and her not wanting to disturb the sleeping cat on top of her head.. Someone please help the poor girl instead of watching her attempt to bend down and pick it up only to fail.

After a while she figures though that she should probably at least tell some people about the true nature of her kitty. It's going to be really awkward if someone sees him transform and freaks out about it in the middle of battle.. So while carrying the cat in her arms, Madoka makes her way through the train to try and look for people she's close to.

When she finds one of them, she'll offer a small smile and say: "Um.. Sorry, but do you maybe have a moment for me..?"

Nita happens to be passing by, and she deftly kneels down to pick up the fallen bag.

"Madoka? What are all these chips for?" she asks, glancing up - and catching notice of the cat.

"... I don't think cats eat potato chips, Madoka. But, ah, /Dai Stiho?/" she adds in greeting to him, catching a glimpse of yet another SCA on the animal.

Maybe he can eat chips?

"Oh..! Thank you so much!"

Nita may be doing something as simple as just picking up a bag, but Madoka gives her a wide-eyed puppy eye look that makes it seem more as if Nita just literally saved her life. She could've broken her back trying to pick that up!

"Um, I'm.. not sure if he can hear you though." She's assuming maybe that was some kind of animal speak? Madoka hasn't heard anything like it before. "He sleeps a lot of the time.. um, actually, he's slept most of the time so far when he isn't eating snacks." So yes, Nita is totally right in assuming that's what all these bags are for.

"But he does eat these! He's a very special cat!"

Nita just ends up nodding knowingly.

"That does sound like a cat."

If... special, as Madoka says.

"Want me to help you carry any of the other bags, then? Or just get the doors to wherever you're going..."

Madoka laughs - there's a hint of something awkward in it, since she's now realising how ridiculous she must look carrying all these bags around, but it's genuine at the same time.

"It'd help a lot if you could help with the doors, really.." Since she doesn't exactly have any arms to spare at the moment. "Thank you so much for helping me out! I'm sure Maru would appreciate it too."

That might be a little too optimistically-minded of you, Madoka.

"That's his name, by the way! I got to name him."

Doors it is, then.

"Heading back to your room? Or elsewhere?"

Because if Madoka's heading to her cabin, they'll need Madoka's ticket to get in the room...

"Maru, huh? Nice to meet him too, then."

Said to Madoka, because Maru's still asleep! Silly kitty.

Maru was't really asleep. Dozing was the best description for what he was doing. It was very hard to actually sleep with people talking around him. And he'd been promised potato chips so why would he sleep through that?

He blinked open sleepy eyes from where he sat perched atop of Madoka's head, and then looked down. With a yawn he moved onto her shoulder and gave another yawn and used a paw to rub at one of his eyes.

"... Why didn't you wake me?" He could have helped. He should have helped. Maru looked at the other person, still rubbing his eyes. "... Hi... Who're you?"

Nita's attention shifted as soon as Maru started moving.

"Because you're adorable sleeping?" she blurted out, before adding, "Uh, sorry. My name's Nita."

She reached over to where he sat on Madoka's head, offering a hand for him to sniff.

Madoka is about to answer Nita when she can suddenly feel something slightly moving on her head. It's a good thing Maru is just a small cat, because otherwise the weight difference as he shifted from her head to her shoulder would have made her topple over along with all these bags of chips! But she's safe. For now.

Nita's answer to his question just makes Madoka giggle though. "She's right." Granted, she actually didn't wake him up since these chips were supposed to be a treat for him and so he shouldn't have to work to get them, but that's a good cover up reason to hide behind. (It's still true, anyway.)

"Ah, by the way, I was planning on taking these to my room, yes.."

Maru yawned again and then blinked and pulled his head back a touch when fingers were thrust up under his nose. Why was this a thing human's did? He'd noticed it back when Mahiru would take him places and strange human's would see him. They'd want him to sniff them for some strange reason. Maybe it was an actual cat thing? Though it seemed more of a dog thing.

He looked down at the bags of potato chips and his ears gave an excited little twitch. They were definitely for him. Madoka was, he decided, the best.

"Still coulda woke me..." He said with a pout. Maru would have liked to have known how and where she'd found the chips... So he could maybe get more himself when no one was looking, clearly.

Nita pulled her hand back at his reaction, respectfully; it was a 'real cat thing', but if he wasn't just a cat...

"Depends," Nita said, "On where your room is. If you've got your ticket we can put half of these in your cabin, too."

Which had been the thing she was going to mention to Madoka, anyway; it could possibly put a damper on things if they didn't wake up in the same place.

"No! It was a surprise!" Of course it's not any real protest. Despite the (almost unusual, considering Madoka tends to be at least slightly more meek) energy in Madoka's tone, it's all just giddy excitement rather than any real scolding towards the tiny creature.

"And I'm in 2-E. I was thinking I could probably keep all of these there.." Who knows how quickly Maru might end up going through these bags. "We've mostly been in my room so far, after all." That thought makes her gaze shift from Nita back over to the cat on her shoulder. "Unless you mind, Maru?"

Maru looked from one to the other then back to the person he didn't know. "... What ticket?" He had no idea what she was talking about. Though there had been a strange moment when he'd woken up somewhere else... Maybe that was his room? Some guy had let him out without noticing he'd even been there. Maru could be quick when he wanted to be, after all.

His tail swished and he looked a bit bothered by all this. Was he supposed to have his own room? Was it going to cause Madoka problems if he did? Was the distance too far...?

"... I should stick by you." He decided after a few seconds more of thought. Just to be on the safe side. Besides, he didn't know anyone else. And there had been a strange girl who smelled like fire in that other room he would rather avoid.

Nita nodded; she'd just have to check the roster, make sure this guy hadn't gotten stuck with Sleeper 7 or anything. That would make for a long walk!

"Whichever you prefer. Means a longer walk to Sleeper Two, is all."

And she went to get the door, gesturing gallantly for Madoka and her new friend to pass through.

Please excuse her here for a moment, Nita, because when the cat says that he should stick by her, Madoka is just letting out a happy cooing sound. If only her arms weren't completely filled with these bags, she definitely would have grabbed him and gently squeezed him! It's just such a sweet answer to that, it warms her heart..

Although after a moment she does realise that right, Nita is with them! And Madoka looks slightly flustered instead.

"Ehehe, sorry. Maru is just much too cute.. Don't you think so too?"

Maru gently bumped his head against Madoka's cheek. She was very sweet. Much better than his last Eve. He found that he wanted to be nice to her. It seemed an almost easy task, given how nice she was to him.

And she thought he was cute. Mahiru had never appreciated how cute he was as a cat. Maru thought he was damn well adorable and made the best cat ever. Though arguing that point had required energy and Maru didn't usually have much of that to spare.

Maruuuu...

Join the Madoka love train!

"No arguments here," Nita replied, waiting until they had gotten through to get the other door.

This was, indeed, going to be a long walk, but the company was certainly pleasant!

Between that adorable cheek-headbump and Nita agreeing, Madoka just can't stop smiling, even as her cheeks are a little pink. Sure, it's only been a day since she met Maru, but it feels like somehow things on the train got even better since then. She's so happy right now!

Happy enough that she's not as shy as usual about being chatty.

"Do you like cats too? I always wanted to have one, but I never got to before!" Even if Maru isn't exactly a normal cat.. but it still counts. "I heard you can get them from the train store now too."

Maru swished his tail and sat himself up and yawned.

"I like cats." He said, deciding to become a part of the conversation.

Nita nods.

"We don't have pets at home, but I meet a lot of cats in my line of work. And dogs," she adds somewhat more nostalgically, reminded of Kit and his dog Ponch.

"Yeah, Namine mentioned it, I think. Haven't seen if she actually got one yet, though."

Because there was no keeping cats in an area they didn't want to be kept in! That, and Platform Days were always busy ones.

"No sense being a cat if you don't like them even a little, so that makes sense," Nita reasons, turning to give the two a wry grin as she opens the next door.

Madoka's face just lights up the moment Nita talks about her line of work.

"You get to meet all kinds of cute kitties and doggies during your work?! That sounds like the best kind of job ever!" Where does Madoka sign up. She's ready. She's here to meet all the cute animals of the world and care for them.

"Ah-- You're still the cutest though, Maru! Don't worry!"

Not that the cat seems very concerned, looking as sleepy as he does.. But apparently Madoka felt the need to add that regardless.

Maru appreciated Madoka making the distinction between another cat and himself, and rewarded her with another of those cute head bumps. While Maru didn't have much in the way of ego to speak of, he could be flattered, and he liked when people appreciated how cute his cat form was. He thought he made a pretty good cat.

"It helps that the local worldgating complex is run by cats, but I help them with more mundane stuff too, sometimes."

It all depended on the nature of the errantry she was assigned to - or took upon herself.

And she just can't stop grinning at how cute these two are!

Something being run by cats is a slightly odd idea to Madoka. Then again, she's already met not one, but two talking cats who seem to have more significant roles than just any regular cat, so maybe she can't be one to judge here.

.. still.. that thought makes Madoka think, frowning very slightly in worry.

"Um.. Do those cats all look like regular cats..?" Maru, for all that he is, at least does look fairly normal for a cat, Madoka thinks. But the other talking cat she knows is a different story entirely. "I.. I mean.. You've never seen a white cat with an extra set of ears, right?"

Giving a big yawn, Maru lays down across Madoka's shoulder to sleep. He gave her a little, comforting purr before he basically snuggled himself into the crook of her neck to nap.

"They are regular cats; at least on Earth, they're the best species at seeing the hyperstrings that the worldgates are laid out on," Nita explains.

Another door opens, and Nita catches it swiftly, stepping through-and-beyond to hold it for them.
