Who: Madoka, her new kitty (Maru/Sleepy Ash) and you!
When: Day 2 of Fiddlesticks
Where: Everywhere on the train
What: Madoka is very excited about her new cat. And also likely making very bad life decisions for herself here by making a contract with a vampire.
Warnings: Likely mentions of vampirism.

(note: threads will mostly be between madoka and your character, maru might randomly jump in to pipe up on some threads, you'll know if/when it happens!)

If you've seen Madoka going anywhere on the train since yesterday, you may have noticed something new about her. Namely the fact that she's dragging a tiny black cat with her everywhere she goes.

Right now she can be found with it in the dining carriage, where she's seated at the table not to eat, but to instead draw in her notebook. She keeps sneaking glances over at the cat as it's sleeping on the table next to her notebook though, and after a while Madoka can't take it and giggles as she gently boops his face with the not-sharp end of her pencil.

"So cute.. Who's the most adorable kitty around? It really is you..!" She's staring at the cat with so much endearment in her eyes, but that's the exact moment where she looks up and only then seems to notice you being there too. Madoka's face immediately grows pink with a blush.

"A--Ah, I'm sorry!" Because apparently she feels the need to apologize for gushing over her cat publically..

Or you may spot Madoka near the on board train shop. Apparently she's been using it, since the girl's arms are loaded with way too many chips for one tiny teenage girl to eat. There's six different bags in her arms, and the tiny black cat is precariously balanced on top of her head. It seems to be going well.. until one of the bags of chips slips out of her hands, falling onto the ground.

"Ah..!"

The girl is trying to pick it up, but it's a difficult process with her arms this full and her not wanting to disturb the sleeping cat on top of her head.. Someone please help the poor girl instead of watching her attempt to bend down and pick it up only to fail.

After a while she figures though that she should probably at least tell some people about the true nature of her kitty. It's going to be really awkward if someone sees him transform and freaks out about it in the middle of battle.. So while carrying the cat in her arms, Madoka makes her way through the train to try and look for people she's close to.

When she finds one of them, she'll offer a small smile and say: "Um.. Sorry, but do you maybe have a moment for me..?"

He did look at her then, the orange haired girl who looked like she didn't like him much at all.

Maru thought about how he could answer that. And really, there was only one way.

"I'll protect her with my life..." He replied, voice low but firm. Maru didn't have many redeeming features to his personality, he knew that. He was a product of his reaction. He was what he had been made to be. But he could try and do something good. Madoka was kind to him. She'd wanted to be strong, to be able to protect the people she loved. Maru would give her that ability and watch over her. He did, after all, live for a very, very long time.

Ple Two nodded - almost smiled. It was also an expression that said 'you'd better' though.

Of course, she felt the same way herself even if she knew saying it would worry Madoka.

It's a good thing that Ple Two isn't making any threat out loud, since the implication in that statement that he should take good care of her goes about fifteen miles above her head..

.. but then again, those words coming from Maru himself that follow are enough to make her freak out all the same. More genuinely so, this time, since she's not just flustered - she's actually worried.

"No, you can't..!"

She actually picks him up off her shoulder like that, holding him out in front of her so she can look at him.

"I.. I mean, protecting by itself is fine, but.. don't go as far as with your life.. I don't want you to get hurt bad enough that you can't get better." No one should get hurt for her sake. (Not you either, Ple Two!!) "I'm not worth that much anyway."

Well neither of them have had the opportunity yet. Madoka's just the sort of sweet gal who seems like a magnet for people willing to throw their lives away for her though, as strange as that is.

Ple Two wouldn't really want someone Madoka cares about to die - but Joss woke up in a suitcase or whatever, so won't that happen to them too? Surely they're better equipped for that trauma than Madoka.

...then she finishes her sentence and Ple Two snaps to attention. "Never... never say that again, Madoka," she rebuts, clearly agitated. "That you're not worth much."

There was a puff of odourless, blue/gray smoke and the kitten was gone. In it's place Madoka was holding the human Maru by his elbows. He was taller than her, but his shoulders were usually slumped so his actual height was never realised. This time he was standing tall.

That sleepy, bored expression Madoka was probably used to was mostly gone. He looked serious as his hands lifted and he moved them to very gently cup Madoka's face between his hands to make her look at him.

"You are my Eve, Madoka. I chose you. I've never chosen an Eve before... I've never met anyone as kind as you. You are worth my life..." And here there was a small twitch of his lips, almost a smile. "... My very long life. I am very hard to kill." He would stay with her until the very end. When she was old and gray he would be there keeping her safe on her death bed.

At this point it's so natural for Madoka to talk badly about herself that she hardly consciously realises anymore that she's doing it in the first place. That's partially why Ple Two's reaction immediately gets her attention - although the fact that the other girl says it with such an agitated tone helps with it too.

She gives Ple Two a half-surprised, half-guilty look. "Ah, Ple Two, I'm s..."

But before she can finish what she was about to say, there's suddenly that smoke. And while Maru's human appearance doesn't surprise Madoka in the slightest, it's his words on top of what Ple Two just said that only add to her surprise more. Especially with him looking so serious.

Madoka stares at him with wide eyes while he talks, but staying quiet until he's done. It's then that Madoka's eyes grow a little watery. Not necessarily in a bad way, but this is all just so overwhelming. Ple Two, who's so invested in her wellbeing despite how much the other girl has gone through. Maru, who's already this dedicated to her after such a short time. Madoka honestly doesn't know what she's ever done to deserve all of it.

"Thank you.." Her words are quiet. "It's just.. both of you are important to me. I don't want you to get hurt.."

Oh.

So that's what he looks like when he's actually going to protect her. Not just a cat trying to fight whatever horrors they come across, but a... guy. She blinks in surprise a few times, but focuses back on Madoka, who seems a little overwhelmed. Well she should get used to it, because everyone loves her, okay?

"And we'll both... take care of you, Madoka."

Maru was quiet as he watched Madoka. There was a temptation to demonstrate to her that he being hurt wouldn't bother him as much as it would normal people. He tilted his head toward the other girl then back again to Madoka.

"If you worry about my getting hurt I won't be able to fight for you, Madoka. Your resolve, remember that..." He spoke quietly, though his voice still held that tired, detached quality, his eyes were on Madoka. Pale blue hair falling into those deep, red gaze. "Never worry. I'll protect you and fight for you. Be my strength in return..."

Both of them are really too much! Just way too much! How can Madoka get used to this? It's like she's been thrown straight into a freezing pool of water, except it's a pool filled with way much more love than she thinks she deserves!

There's almost something frantic in the way she stares between the two of them, like she's not quite sure what to do. Then she sniffs, before moving to hug Maru, momentarily burying her face against his hoodie. "I-.. I know," she mumbles.

It's a quick, momentary hug though, since a moment later she lets go so she can instead step over to Ple Two. She knows the other girl isn't as good with the whole hug thing, and she doesn't want to make her uncomfortable, so instead Madoka grabs her hands and gives them a quick squeeze, staring at the other with watery eyes. "Thank you.."

She takes a step back to glance between the two of them, suddenly bowing before quickly uprighting herself again.

"T-Thank you so much to the both of you. You're so sweet to me, and you help me so much.. I--I'll do my best to not let you down in return!"

This won't give her hypothermia, at least. Just heart attacks. It must be a little overwhelming, being stared down with love from very intense, serious people - Ple Two realizes, almost feels bad about it.

...almost feels jealous when Maru gets hugged before Madoka gets to her. It's fine.

She smiles a little at the squeeze, at seeing such a rush of pure emotion. "...we'll all take care of each other now, a little, won't we?" Just by proximity.

Maru lifted a single arm to curl around Madoka when she moved to hug him. It was an odd habit she seemed to have, but he was quickly becoming accustomed to it. Hugs weren't as bothersome as he had thought they would be.

His arm dropped when she left him to go to the other. And Maru turned and sat himself down on the ground to watch over them both. He'd said his piece, he didn't think there was more he needed to say.

".. Yes."

And judging by the smile on Madoka's face - still a little overwhelmed, but at least starting to cope just a bit - she really likes that idea. All of them taking care of each other. Madoka definitely wants to make sure both Ple Two and Maru are happy, and she feels much more secure in her ability to be able to help Ple Two out during battle as well now she has Maru with her.

"Let's make sure to all stick together next time there's a mission. I'll do my best this time too!" You can do your best by staying safe, Madoka...

Madoka, and Madoka's cat. Sorry, Maru. Ple Two can see that they seem to have bonded quickly, so she'll have to respect that. Possibly, learn how to fight alongside each other more effectively.

"We'll all fight alongside one another. ...keep safe Madoka. Don't overextend."

With Maru quiet for the moment, Madoka does keep an eye on him just slightly, just in case something is wrong.. But he's probably just being his usual self, right? So it gives her a chance to instead reply to Ple Two, looking only the tiniest bit embarrassed.

"A-Ah, well, I don't usually overextend that much, do I.."

(She totally does.)
