Party Time

Who: Everyone who wants to attend.
What: It's a party for all, but the pairing up part is for singles only.

[Minako figured she did the best she could for the party. Though she also wondered if perhaps she might not have that many people come. Sure she wanted to put singles together, but at the same time, she simply wanted people to have fun.

In the dressing carriage, people will find costumes and masks that were more gothic in nature. There was food and hopefully some forms of sweet treats for those looking for it as well as a variety of drink, mostly non-alcoholic.]

Then I'd be happy to oblige! [And so Wester takes Kitty's hand with a broad, eager grin on their face, sweeping her across the dance floor. Their technique is impeccable; moves that Kitty would expect out of a professional Broadway performer rather than a teenager in a cramped train car.

But more importantly, they're immediately there to support Kitty if she stumbles, whispering gentle advice into her ear whenever she's confused about Wester's steps, and slowing down whenever Kitty needs to catch up. All the skill in the world doesn't mean a thing if you leave your partner behind in the process, after all.

Midway through the dance, Wester looks directly into Kitty's eyes, cocking their head to the side and smiling.] You're really good at this, you know. [Their compliment is impossibly genuine.]

[ She does her best to keep up with her partner, but her dance moves had developed from just having fun, and this person definitely seems more like a professional.

Still, the guidance that her partner gives definitely helps, and she appreciates their efforts to keep pace with her. She doesn't think she's doing too bad of a job, but the compliment still surprises her, and she can't help the touch of shyness in her smile. ]

Thank you. [ Eventually she manages to meet Wester's gaze, her smile growing a bit bolder. ] But you're definitely a lot better than I am.

I'm not going to play humble and say that I'm not—I worked hard for these moves, you know!—[Wester laughs lightly, but there's no malice in it,] but you have this spark in your dancing. The willingness to go out that and move, no matter how many people are watching, and express yourself. That spark... it's the most important part of learning how to really dance, and it's nearly impossible to cultivate on your own.

[They smile, tilting their head to the side ever so slightly as they look into Kitty's eyes. The genuine admiration on their expression, despite how half of it is hidden by a mask, is dizzying.] You should be proud of it. It's a gift that not many people have naturally.

[ She can't help as her blush deepens, not used to being complimented so openly. ]

Gosh, thank you...I'll admit, though, it's not...really that natural. I used to be pretty shy before.

Then you should be even prouder of yourself for having the willpower to grow your courage.

[Wester twirls Kitty and laughs, sounding like a total dork.]

Gosh, listen to me dispensing sage advice like some monk. I swear, I'm not usually this pretentious. This dance has just got me in that mood, I guess.

[ She giggles softly as she spins around, still moving in time with them and the beat. ]

That's okay. It's pretty easy to get swept up in the music, isn't it?

It really is. [They smile, and the non-diegetic bishie sparkles around them multiply.] That's what I like most about dance: it's easy to lose yourself in the beat, and forget about... everything. To just be yourself without worrying about anything or anyone else, and to let the real you shine through.

[They pause, then snort-giggle again.]

Which is kind of ironic considering that this is a masquerade ball, but my point still stands.

[ ...wow, this person is pretty. Even with the mask on.

She manages another soft laugh as she nods. ]

Yeah, that's true. But I agree, that's the fun about dancing. Just letting yourself go and having fun, no matter who might be watching.

[As the song comes to a close, Wester decides they might as well finish things off with a bang. They spin Kitty around before leaning forward, attempting to dip her while a look of pure, innocent joy is spread wide across their face.]

[ She's expecting the spin, but she is not expecting to suddenly be dipped. She manages to keep her balance enough to finish the move though, as the song comes to an end, and she looks up at her dance partner. ]

Wow...Are you always such a performer?

[Wester tilts their head to the side and winks.]

I always try to be.

[ She giggles softly as she stands at her full height - which really, isn't that tall. ]

Well, I might need to look out for more of your performances in the future. What's your name?

[Hearing themself say it out loud is the most amazing feeling in the world, and Wester can't help but break into a huge grin.]

I'm Wester.

[Realizing what they're doing, Wester turns away and blushes. The name still doesn't feel like the perfect fit, but... it's infinitely better than stealing Anzu's.]

Sorry, it's just... I don't get the chance to hear my own name that often. Even from my own lips.

I'm... not registered on the train as Wester, but it is my name. It's complicated.

[ She is a bit surprised, but when they explain she can't help feeling a bit bad. Were they in hiding? ]

That's okay. [ She decides not to ask, just in case they don't really want to talk about it. ] My name's Kitty.

It's... amazing to meet you, Kitty, [they say breathlessly. This is literally the first time they've ever been themself in public, so everything has a coat of shiny newness that's downright breathtaking.]
