Party Time

Who: Everyone who wants to attend.
What: It's a party for all, but the pairing up part is for singles only.
When: Day 19 of Fiddlesticks
Where: Gym Carriage
Warnings: Who knows atm just Minako being Minako will add more as things happen.

[Minako figured she did the best she could for the party. Though she also wondered if perhaps she might not have that many people come. Sure she wanted to put singles together, but at the same time, she simply wanted people to have fun.

In the dressing carriage, people will find costumes and masks that were more gothic in nature. There was food and hopefully some forms of sweet treats for those looking for it as well as a variety of drink, mostly non-alcoholic.]

It was Duo's first Void Party and he wasn't going to miss it for the world!

It had taken him 10 minutes to find an outfit he liked. A few minutes to find a mask... and a good 45 to brush his hair out until it shone a rich mahogany. With the help of a lovely friend, he was able to braid his hair.

It was strange having his hair down and walking around people. His hair, when down, reached well past his ass. And seemed to change his features completely. He hoped the badass shiny pants would distract from that though.

The music, when he entered, had him grinning from eat-to-ear. It wasn't quite his style but he could appreciate it.

So out on the dance floor he went and just let the music take him.

Glorfindel was also out on the dancefloor, making with the dancing and rocking the braids. "Very nice!" he said, admiring both the hair and the outfit.

Duo turned his head at the compliments and grinned widely. "Thanks, 'Danel helped!" there was no way he could do anything so fancy himself. A simple braid was good enough for him. He turned the rest of the way to face the tall elf and admired his own braid with a nod of appreciation. "Not bad yourself!"

"What, this old thing?" Glorfindel said modestly. "It's an older pattern, but seemed fun for a party."

"Who is Daniel?"

"'Danel." Duo corrected him with a grin. "Nerdanel?" he was sure he'd know her, he was pretty sure she'd mentioned this guy before to him. Maybe he was wrong?

"Ah! ...a nickname. I see. I hadn't recalled you calling her such before," Glorfindel said, a little startled. She really must have adopted him.

"She does good work. I did not recognize the style. Is it one you rquested or is it something new they are wearing in Valinor, I wonder."

Duo looked a little surprised himself. Was it weird? "Well, she's not seemed to mind it...?" He was sure she'd have said something if she did. Maybe he'd ask her next time he saw her? Glorfindel's reaction concerned him some, and he really didn't want to be upsetting Nerdanel. She was nice to him.

"It's just a thing she did." Duo shrugged and laughed, a hand lifted to touch his hair almost self-consciously. Having his hair down, was just a little unnerving.

"She would tell you," Glorfindel assured him. "Just because I don't call her that, doesn't mean she doesn't want you to."

"It looks very nice," Glorfindel said. "It's not your usual style, though, so what do you think of it?"

Duo gave that some thought before he nodded. It was something he'd have to ask Nerdanel about, at some point. If and when he found the time to. He didn't like the idea he was using a name she might not have liked, or was enough to shock others. Did it mean something else in their language, maybe? Surely she would have said something if it did...?

He shook himself out of his thoughts at the next question and actually felt his cheeks start to colour. "It's... nah, it's not something I usually do. It's weird having my hair down and... people around. Making me feel twitchy if I'm honest." Maybe he hadn't been ready for that step after all?

Glorfindel laughed. "As someone who died from his hair being grabbed at the wrong moment, I can completely sympathize. But, in my way of thinking, I can let fear rule me, or I can do what I like. I think your hair looks lovely and suits you like that. Perhaps you just need a bit more practice, having it down?"

No, that blush had NOT darkened. It was just your imagination!

Duo pushed a lock of hair behind his ear and smoothed his hand down the loose strands. It was the one thing he was really ever self-conscious about, had been since he was a kid. Having it down, even though it wasn't all down, some of it was bound in a braid, it still left him feeling unsettled. And it was part of why he was doing it.

"That's what I was aiming for. Practice makes perfect. If I do this enough, maybe it won't bother me as much?" And it helped when people like Glorfindel actually complimented him. While he didn't need the flattery, knowing he didn't look bad or weird was a good boost to his ego.

"I know I'm not as lovely as Nerdanel, but if you ever want help, or to learn a new pattern, feel free to hit me up," Glorfindel offered. He also didn't give off 'mom' vibes, which may or may not be a bonus.

"Personally, except for combat, I just use the decorative brais, rather than the single plait." Glorfindel ran his hand over and down his own golden locks. "It still stays out of your face, but feels lighter, in my opinion."

"You can do..." Duo stopped as a memory poked at the back of his brain. Nerdanel mentioning Glorfindels name the first time she braided his hair. So yes, he did know the guy could do it, it just hadn't occurred to him to ask. After all, he didn't know him well enough.

"I've worn a single braid since I was a kid." Duo replied with a grin. "Never really changed it up. But sure, yeah... if you think you can teach me as well, I'm game."

"My schedule is remarkably free, so any time. You strike me as someone both smart and good with your hands, so I'm sure you won't have any trouble learning," Glorfindel said with another smile.

"Sometimes it's nice to change things up. Or, at the least, to have the options to do so if you want to. You may still continue with the single braid, but having the option means you do so out of choice." His smile turned to a grin, here.

Duo blinked up at the guy for a second, and then laughed. Smart and good with his hands? So much flattery. When was the last time anyone had said anything good about his skills? He honestly couldn't remember. Not that Glorfindel had any basis for his claims, but it was nice all the same.

"I like the way you think. So yeah, yeah I'm down to learn some new ways to style my hair. Just..." He lifted his hands and waved around the top of his head. "Nothing all piled up on here... Feels weird."

"We elves tend to save the updos for really fancy events. It looks stunning with a tiara," Glorfindel said with a straight face.

Duo just stared, not sure if Glorfindel was joking or not. He really wanted to see it as funny... He couldn't see himself with his hair up and a tiara unless he was trying to infiltrate some rich kids all girls school and the only way was via a party where guys weren't allowed.

"... You've got balls, Glor. Don't think I could pull off a look like that!" And no way he would try!

"It's really more for a formal event," Glorfindel said, letting him wonder for a few moments longer. "Usually by the queens and ladies, though, to be honest. When I wear my...at formal events, my braids get fancier, but I don't wear it up, no." His eyes twinkled now, showing he'd been messing with Duo a little.

Duo stared some more... before he burst out laughing when he realised he was being teased.

"Jerk, I believed you then!" Though he honestly thought, of the both of them, Glorfindel would suit an updo more than him.

Glorfindel laughed, probably turning a few heads as he did so, since he laughed with his head back, the laughs peeling out like chimes of a bell.

"I know! I probably shouldn't tease you, but you made it so easy," he said, once he could. He hadn't had a good laugh in too long. His eyes still sparkled with his mirth. "Despite what some say, it isn't quite as hard to tell male and female Elves apart as it is Dwarves."

"Don't got elves where I come from." Duo mumbled before he reached out and lightly punched Glorfindels arm. Payback for being an ass and teasing him. Yet, even though he pouted, violet eyes were still rather amused despite it, when he looked back at Glorfindel.

"Most we know about elves are weird stories in books. So I'm learning on the run here, Glor! But I'll try and remember all this." And, of course, that he would need to pay him back somehow, some way...

"Then it is high time you learned about real elves, right?" Glorfindel asked. "We're elegant, full of grace, can run on snow, need very little sleep, and...we have a sense of humor, we bleed if we're cut, can die of a broken heart, and enjoy a good drink with friends." He gave a half shrug as if to say, Look, People.

Payback is a dish best served cold...just remember that Glorfindel is always hot.
