Party Time

Who: Everyone who wants to attend.
What: It's a party for all, but the pairing up part is for singles only.
When: Day 19 of Fiddlesticks
Where: Gym Carriage
Warnings: Who knows atm just Minako being Minako will add more as things happen.

[Minako figured she did the best she could for the party. Though she also wondered if perhaps she might not have that many people come. Sure she wanted to put singles together, but at the same time, she simply wanted people to have fun.

In the dressing carriage, people will find costumes and masks that were more gothic in nature. There was food and hopefully some forms of sweet treats for those looking for it as well as a variety of drink, mostly non-alcoholic.]

[ Bryn's not a particularly traditional girl, so when she shows up to the part it's... well, her outfit is in keeping with the spirit of the dress code if not the letter, exactly. The rose growing out of her eye makes an actual mask a bit of a difficult fit, but she's managed to find a half face mask that she seems particularly gleeful about, for some reason.

And of course, when she gets here, she immediately makes a beeline for the food. Because why else would Bryn be at a party? She'll be hovering at the food table more or less her entire time here, munching away at all the food, but... well, even Bryn ends up balking at the charred remains of Minako's cooking. ]

Is... that supposed to be so burned?

[ Ouch.

Aside from food, she's also knocking back her share of drinks and holding her liquor surprisingly well considering her size. She doesn't seem to get more than mildly buzzed and even then only really occupies herself with clapping along to the dancing. This music isn't really her scene, so she'll wallflower a bit for once in her life. ]

[ Since Della has officially declared she and Bryn are Good Friends now, she immediately makes a bee-line for her. She hadn't really put much thought into her own outfit, but she had to admire Bryn's creativity.]

Totally groovin' look you got there. Is that the "steam punk" thing I hear is so popular?

[ She's a little behind on the trends, but she's trying. ]

[ Bryn, with her mouth unsurprisingly full of food, can only give an "mm!" of affirmation for a moment before swallowing her giant mouthful of party food and giving a shrug. ]

I really wouldn't know! We don't have these sorts of styles where I'm from... I just thought the roses might be a nice match!

[ When you have an unavoidable aesthetic, might as well lean into it. ]

... I hope I'm using those terms right. It's been hard trying to find out what slang is current and what makes me sound lame.

Oh, I'd be the worst person to ask for that! [ She titters to herself. ] We really don't use slang like that at all where I come from, so I'm not sure what would be outdated and what would be current...

[ She taps her chin thoughtfully. ]

But I suppose you could always just pretend that whatever slang you use is up to date where you're from!

[ Della raises her eyebrows, then cups her beak in thought. ]

That is... amazingly brilliant. I could say whatever nonsense I wanted and get away with it!

[ Bryn gives her a big ol' grin. ]

Don't worry about what anyone else might think of you! In a place like this, it's not like anyone can tell if you're strange or not.

[ They definitely can, Bryn. ]

Yeah! Since we're all from different worlds, we're already strange to each other - so it loops around to being from being so strange that it's not strange at all!

[ warning - trying to think through this logic may leave you crosseyed. ]

You could even have some fun with it! You could make up something truly ridiculous and run with it, and whenever anyone asks you a question, you just say "what? that's exactly how things are in my world"!

Well, we need to have some fun where we can, don't we? And it's not like playing around like that ends up hurting anyone. So it's a win-win for everyone!

Don't those usually grow back quite slowly, though? I've heard it can take several days, depending on the hydra...

[ Looks like we've got a wallflower x2 combo up in here. Alice is also hovering near the food table very awkwardly, avoiding the dance floor like the plague. So of course she catches the way Bryn looks at the natural disaster that is Minako's cooking.

.. considering the impression she got of the other the last time they talked, Alice can't help but wonder if Bryn is thinking of trying to eat it anyway.. So after frowning at the burnt remainders, she turns to Bryn and only says: ]

Don't eat it.

[ With the immediate, slightly panicked defensiveness of someone who was definitely about to do the thing they've just been told not to do: ]

I wasn't going to eat it! [ She says this, despite her fork having literally just been en route to the plate of... whatever the fuck that was supposed to be before Minako put it in the oven. ] But aren't you at least curious enough to try taking a closer look at it?

[irrationally]

Not really. I've seen similar things in the hearth after the fire died.

[ In other words, please don't eat it, Bryn. Think of all the brain damage it could do! Alice is at least 99% sure it tastes just about as bad as it looks. ]

I doubt it's little more than like shoveling soot straight into your mouth. Who thought it was a good idea to serve this at a party?

Maybe she just hoped no one would notice?

[ She gives the solid black lump a cautious prod with her fork. A huge chunk of it flakes off and falls to the plate and Bryn pulls a face. ]

It's... hideous. Maybe it'd be better to throw it away before anyone else can try and eat it...

[irrationally]

[ Alice glances over at the other, giving her a dubious look. ]

Do you really think anyone would even make an attempt to eat-- [ She stops herself mid-sentence, letting out an exasperated sigh and pinching the bridge of her nose. ] No, you're right. There are most certainly people on this train who might just attempt to do so.

[ After all, even Bryn herself was close to doing it! ]

[ Nodding, more to herself, than Alice– ] Then we absolutely have to get rid of it!

It's a shame this isn't a normal train, or we could've thrown the whole thing out of the window...

[ As much as I want to say sike, this is Not a joke. ]

And poisoned a bunch of innocent cows?

[ Is that really the worst possible outcome you could think of, Alice.. ]

Maybe we can get it out to the garbage before anyone notices. The last thing I want is for some sort of huge argument to start about these.. [ She pauses. Calling it food would feel like she's doing a disservice to food in general.. ] .. things.

Oh!

[ Uh oh. Just look at the way she's lighting up at the opportunity to Cause Problems On Purpose. ]

Perhaps I could cause some sort of distraction, while you whisk the plates away?

[irrationally]

[ Usually Alice wouldn't mind this suggestion. After all, she'd greatly prefer for anyone but her to be the distraction and make a fool out of themselves. She hates attention.

But the way Bryn's eye lights up like that is suspicious. So suspicious. ]

What are you thinking of doing? [ BETTER CHECK FIRST.. ]

I haven't quite decided yet! [ TERRIFYING ] I could climb onto one of the chairs and make a speech, I could make a drunken spectacle of myself and then mysteriously sober up once you're out of sight, or I could have some sort of horrible, attention-grabbing accident on the dance floor... really, the possibilities are endless!

[ Bryn........ Please!! ]

Those are your plans? [ Listen, they're not necessarily bad plans when it comes to drawing attention, but they're also just.. ] Aren't you embarrassed in the slightest when thinking of pulling that off?

Not particularly!

[ She shrugs her shoulders in a pretty off-handed way. ]

People will laugh and they'll remember it for a time, but they'll forget soon enough. I don't imagine it'll linger in people's minds for long enough for it to have any real effect on me.
