Blue Meeting:

Who: Gladio + Blue Team and Friends.
Where: Dining carriage. (Change of venue, larger space)
When: Grasshopper 15th after lunch.
What: The first Blue Team meeting with the new Leadership in place.
Warnings: Unknown. Possible cuteness. Snack induced jealousy. Will update if something comes up!

To say that Gladio was nervous would be an understatement. He hadn't been able to get much sleep the night before worrying if this would work out the way he had planned. Would people be receptive to what he asked? Would people even come to this meeting? He had been assured by several people there would be at least some (who could resist lovingly prepared snacks?) but it remained to be seen.

Gladio sat at a table, there was a notepad and a pencil in his hand. He would be taking notes of things he deemed important.

Once people started filtering in, Gladio began to feel somewhat better. Calmer. He watched them milling about with a smile. It was only when he thought there was enough that he rose and gave a call to get people's attention.

"First, I just wanna thank everyone for coming. I know it was short notice, but between the mission and platform day coming up, my hands were tied.

In future I'm going to do my best to have a meeting like this before every big mission, once we get the info. I don't think a little organisation can hurt. And... with that in mind. The reason I wanted to get you all here. I want everyone to get to know each other. And I want to learn more about you all. I'd like, if you're all willing, to assign simple roles within the team to each person for missions. If you don't want to be part of that, just let me know. That's your choice." He smiled wider. "If you do... I'll get to you. If you've any questions, I'm open to them. Piccolo and WangJi are also here to answer your questions and concerns. Not just here and not just for missions, but any you have. We're here for you."

With that his smile became a grin. "Now... I know two of our number have been working hard to make delicious snacks, so do me a favour? Make them happy and dig in! Enjoy them and... chat. Mingle. Get to know your fellow blue. We're a small team, lets make us the best team!"

Was that an order? It didn't sound like an order but what would he do to them if they didn't obey...?

She waited to see what Axel would do.

"It is?" Wei Wuxian had never really considered it particularly long, it was only three syllables. His title, Yiling Patriarch, was longer. "What sounds good to you? If I don't like it, I'll tell you," he offered.

"As for what I want to do? I make a fabulous second," he said with a shrug. "I was trained to be my brother's second in command, so I'm pretty good with kids, know how to run training sessions, not so good with paperwork, that sort of thing." Also at protecting people to the point of antagonizing those in power, hiding how much pain he's in, lying about how bad a situation is, and prefers potatoes to radishes--even though radishes are cheaper and easier to grow, but that last one might only matter to Wen Qing.

"It is my new favorite," he assured her, taking a big bite. The sugary sweetness flooded his mouth, and he made a very happy noise. "So good! How do you keep yourself from eating them all? Should I check each one for tiny bite marks?" he asked, teasing her.

Wei Wuxian tried not to simply glue himself to Lan Wangji's side. His husband was now a leader of the team and did not need a smart ass at his side when he was trying to make a good first impression. So he wandered about the room, greeting the people he knew and introducing himself to the ones he didn't.

"Hey, great meeting so far!"

I admit I have no idea what one of those is.

[And yes she did seem baffled as to what exactly one was. She had never heard it before, not even in comics or video games.]

[Gladio wasn't really shocked by that, so he just grinned.]

Generally a military term, but it works well here... Basically, it's down to the quartermaster to supervise supplies and provisions. It's their job to organise and distribute them. Depending on the mission, it'd be their job to make sure the rest of the team have everything they need in terms of supplies we provide and the train.

It could extend to watching over those that do the cooking to make sure there's enough. Dealing with surplus. Keeping stock of the items we have to use, be it food, equipment or weapons and letting me and the others know if we're running low on anything.

Basically... If you say yes, you'd have a hand in near everything the team does. Because I think the role would suit you well.

It didn't seem right for him to really mingle around and get involved too much seeing he was just here to talk with Gladio as a 'sometimes/maybe Blue', but when he spots Wei Wuxian, Tidus decides to go over to him with a hand raised in greeting.

"Hey! How are ya? How did the mission go for you and the husband?"

[He waited for Tidus to make himself comfortable before he smiled again.]

You don't need to come over to the Blue Team, Tidus. But you said you'd go where you felt you were needed? So if we find a mission where you'd want to go with Blue, I'd like to know what you're about.

What you can do would be a great start. How did you handle the last mission?

Alright. [ Though, it comes with a scrunch of his nose. ] Didn't like the fiends and how we had to deal with them, but I have magic--thunder, water, haste and slow. Wasn't all useful, but it covers the basics of what I know. And healing.

[ He waves a hand. ]

I was fighting too, but when I jumped over, it was really just to heal. I'm not the best guy for it, but when you're desperate.

[ Anything helps, right? ]

Not long, but more formal in Gladio's mind. It was his whole name is was using, surely there was a shorter form of it? "How about your given name?"

"Hmm... And what kind of training sessions would those be? Can you train self-defence at all?" That would be a huge help, if he was honest.

Gladio listened and nodded slowly along with her words. He lost count of how many times she said 'duty', and found himself smiling gently.

"Listen... first I'm going to say to hell with duty. Go where you feel you're needed the most. Would I love you to be here with Blue? Course I would. But it's your choice where you feel you'd be of more use. And if you've someone you need to be with, then be with them.

But... if you do come with Blues. I think I'd like you to lead our medical team, if you wouldn't mind? Noct isn't a healer, but he can make a potion that can help in a pinch. Mami generally comes with us and is an accomplished healer." His smile widened some. "If you'd need anything else, let me know. Supplies, anything."

I don't think anyone'll mind, Prom. This meeting is for the Blue Team and anyone who comes with us.

[He tightened his arm around Prompto just a little.]

You belong here as much as anyone else.

[Gladio was feeling a bit confused, he wasn't sure what he was being told here, so he shook his head and held up a single hand.]

Hold up, lets go back a bit here and start again.

[He grinned.]

Tell me what YOU are comfortable with. Not "if there's no other choices", I need to know what your primary options are. What you're prefer over everything else. Skills you think'll be useful on a mission.

Do you think you'd be better in an offensive position or a defensive one?

[Gladio nodded along with what he was being told, and made a few notes so he wouldn't forget.]

So there are limits to how much you can heal? What about magic? Is it a finite resource?

And what about weapons? Anything you're handy with?

Uh, I don't know how long I can last with magic, [ he says with a small awkward chuckle. ] If you wanted me fighting with it for a few hours? Sure--I usually mix up magic with swordfighting. And I can through a bit of healing...? Depends on the wounds. I just wouldn't want you putting me in front of someone with a hole in their gut, you know?

[ He even grimaces through his smile there. Gross...! ]

I'm more of a fighter. But if you need someone for that--I mean, healing in general, I'll come. I can take on a few. And I'm getting stuff in to help me keep at it.

We've a doctor and a healer, but having backup never hurts...

But I'm more interested in that magic. [Gladio grins.]

Maybe a silly question, but do you have the ability to infuse weapons with your magic?

[blitzcheer]

That depends on whose weapon you mean. Mine? Sure--I can stun or put a fiend to sleep with a whack! But never done it to anyone else's.

Think it'd be something you'd like to experiment with?

[Ignis could do that kind of thing, but magic was different from world to world. The chances of it working were minimal. But if there was a chance...]

Maybe it doesn't work, but if there's a chance, could help in a pinch?

[Having his sword infused with something that had generated light, even fire, would have given him a hell of an advantage in the last mission, after all.]

[blitzcheer]

[ His brow furrows, more from though, his head tilting slightly before correcting itself. ]

If someone can teach me...? Sure. I guess I could try learning it on my own, but... [ Uhhhh. ]

You know anyone who can do that?

[He frowns.] Man I told y' I'm better at impr'visin righ'? Primary options are no other choices. I work w' what I got, tha's tha'. 'F there's somethin' to fight, I'm gonna go fight it, th' end!

[It seemed simple enough to him. Perhaps a concerning thing to hear if Gladio's familiar with the typical sort to end up in Blue though.] 'Nothin' is what I'm most familiar w'th- staff's more like...'f y' know y' can't get close enough w'thout hittin the bitey end 'f somethin'. It'd just be in th' way otherwise.

[Gladio held back a sigh as he wrote down a few things into his note book.]

Not here, you won't, kiddo. [He didn't look up as he said this.]

My goal is to keep you guys from dying. There's no 'to the end' here. And if you're gonna be stupid enough to run into a fight you've no way of getting out of, I'm going to have some serious words. And none of them'll be polite.

[Gladio looked up then, expression serious.]

I'm tempted to team you up with Romeo. He has magic he can use as a shield. It will offer you protection. But your job would be to make sure he is protected in turn. You die, no one's protecting him.

I did, but he left... [Which was why Gladio was in this position in the first place.]

Maybe Noct would know the details, but it's not important. Would have been nice if you could! But if you can't, it's no huge loss.

[He chuckled as he made a small note on his pad]

Your skills are really broad though... What do you prefer? Offence of defence?

[blitzcheer]

Offence! No matter what, I'm better with a sword than I am with magic. [ He waves a had. ] I know Watera and Thunder, but that's 'cause I was travelling with someone who taught me. The same with everything else I know.

[ He was telling the guy since he figured he was making note than because he was super amazing at these things. If only they had Lulu around... ]

But most of it's to help with me a sword. Get in there, and get back out! [ Said with confidence. That's his style. ] I only really mention the healing 'cause we end up needing it, with all the fiends flooding in every mission.

I can appreciate that method of fighting.

So offensive, with magical assistance if needed and healing abilities... Though I don't know if we'll need healers, unless one or more of ours is taken down. But it's good to know.
