a wild bird appears (open)
Who: Willow and anyone (OPEN, will match styles)
Where: Kitchen & general locations
When: Grasshoper 19 - whenever the event is
What: Grumpy/Distant bird does things
Warnings: TBA (nothing rn but will update if necessary)
Chores (closed to orange team)
[Cooking wasn't something terribly difficult to her, but carrots were one of the few things Willow did not really understand in terms of cooking with. All she really could do were make stews that happened to have them in them, but any other fancy thing, she had no idea what to do with them other than bite into it raw or offer to any livestock. So when it came to making Carrot, Halloumi and Dill Balls, she was entirely lost. Sucking up her pride, she lets out a sigh and looks to someone near her, who would hopefully help her.]
Err... I am not very familiar with this, in fact I've not made it before. Could I, perhaps, have some help on this?
Garden Car (OPEN)
[This was a car that while exploring, she had found some peace of mind, and if she remembered correctly was where she had found the wooloo creature. In here she found herself laying in an out of the way part of the car, just relaxing for any and all animals in there to come near if they chose, or people for that matter. Nova is playfully darting about above as Willow is teasing her with a small ball of fire, much like a cat would be with a laser pointer, although with fire and the fire itself isn't dangerous nor would it ignite any of the very likely flammable flora or fauna in the car.
A quiet giggle escapes her lips as the bird makes whining like noises from being unable to catch the tiny fireball.]
[ooc: feel free to interrupt her, feel concerned, or be curious about the little fireball]
Standard Car, library? (OPEN)
[She might as well try and see if there's any book about this damned thing that's hurtling her and others the Tharsi know where with swirling colours around that give headaches if stared at for too long. There are very frustrated noises when nothing of use can be found, and then an exclamation of said frustration as she puts the last book back, surprisingly gently in her visible irritation.]
Useless, the information about this infernal thing is useless!
[She growls out as she finds a seat, not paying attention if anyone was sitting near her or not, crossing her arms in a huff. Nova is nowhere to be seen.]
4. WILDCARD!!
[ooc: Want to request Nova? You're more than welcome to make a top level with her specifically. Or if you want to find Willow at any point. Cabinmates can hassle her in the room as well. Toss 'em at me, I ain't picky!]

Then he hears the voice of a new teammate and makes a 'hm' sound. Yet another task the train thrusts unprepared people into, leaving them to struggle to help each other. So he looks at her, face impassive. ]
Have you ever used a grater before?
garden car
Cottonball, however, was under no such worries or compunctions, and since the most important business for her (read: eating) had been tended to, she could play! And so without any second thoughts, she flittered off after the fireball and the bird as well...though it probably looks something like a chubby toddler stumbling after an older sibling.]
Hey, just let me know if I bother you, okay? Or if she does--she's harmless, that's Cottonball. [He's just trying to stay out of the way, hanging out in his little spot and doing what he does best...tend plants.]

Hi!
[She knows manners. Ronan was very clear that she's supposed to use manners when talking to new people.]
Chores
I am new at this dish, but it's better we work together anyway, don't you think?
no subject
I cannot say I have, not to my memory.
[She may be a hunter who can cook, but using a cheese grater? For this noble? She's more familiar with cooking stews and the like!]
no subject
[It was worth the effort to at least try to do things together.]
no subject
[ He put the grater in place above a bowl, lifted a peeled carrot, and got to work rubbing it along the grater. ]
It needs to be fine enough that they can be rolled into balls when we add the egg. Easy enough, right?
no subject
MY! Aren't you a polite girl, what is your name?
(Willow does speak bird, as a small head's up! So let me know if you're comfortable with her knowing birdspeak)
no subject
When the boy spoke, she shakes her head with her smile still there.]
Oh it is no worries at all, no bothering or anything. Your creature is most welcome to be around. [As is he, which is implied by her words and tone. Though the sight of his wings piques her attention.] Are those wings hard to move around with?
[she's also concerned about the wings being out in the first place.]
no subject
[She watches intently, then reaches for another and does the same, but on the larger grate instead of the smaller one.]
Like this, yes?
no subject
[Chainsaw imitates the sound of a chainsaw in response, which is how Ronan taught her to say her name because she couldn't quite manage to say "Chainsaw."]
Her name's Chainsaw.
[Ronan's leaning on the wall near the doorway between the cars. They were headed toward the theater when Chainsaw darted off, and Ronan only noticed when he paused to hold the door for her and she suddenly wasn't following behind him. He's just paused to see if she wants to stay and talk or not.]
no subject
[The imitation of a noise she's unfamiliar with puzzles her, but the confirmation of a name from another voice is helpful enough to her.]
An interesting name. [Not said with any disdain, more of an observation while smiling at the bird.] She is yours, I presume?
[She has stopped with the fireball that Nova is chasing around, and as such, the hawk sets down near Chainsaw but far enough away so that she can be approached if the raven wants to.]
no subject
[He was joking about it going south... he really hoped.]
So...where do we start? At least we know we need carrots. I'll grab those. [There were so many that at least they knew they could never be low in supplies.]
no subject
Mostly her own. [Chainsaw is, in a way, a part of him but he considers her separate from him.] She likes meeting other birds because I raised her on her own.
[It's a little more complicated than that, because Chainsaw isn't technically a bird, but that's true enough that Ronan doesn't feel it's a lie. He whistles a short tune and Chainsaw makes a happy noise before hopping over to greet Nova.]
Word of warning: spending a lot of time in here can give you void sickness.
no subject
[ Kaiba passes her a bowl, then passes over the remaining ingredients. ]
Then it's just a matter of forming the wet mixture into balls. Something quick and simple, we need it if we're feeding over a hundred a few times a day.
no subject
Hey, it's not like you're chasing bugs! Sure, you do that on missions, but that's like, once a month!
[But then he shakes his head.] Nah, I've always had them, so I'm used to it. They don't go in. Some full-blooded angels can do that, but I'm only half--I'm a nephilim. I've never been able to, so here they stay.
[But Xander's definitely not bothered by it, as he grins back, now. She seems nice, even if her power is almost palpable to him. Still, curiosity killed the cat.] So, are you a Fire Master?
I'm just as clueless as the bird on making this dish
[although she hoped it wouldn't fail, that would be disheartening with joining the train so soon.]
It says we need something called "halloumi" as well, and that too is to be grated with the carrots?
no subject
I should just guess what it is, right?
no subject
no subject
I am sure that Nova is just as pleased to make a bird friend while here. [Which is more obvious when the pleased bird chatter coming from the hawk is nothing but friendly.]
What is 'void sickness'? Is it the headache I had felt when looking into the whirling colours outside?
no subject
They do not go in? [Though hearing the word 'angel' makes her blink. She could swear she may have heard the word in her lessons decades ago, but she is unsure.] Oh, I see.
Ah.. you could say that, yes. [Technically, he's not wrong about that. She does briefly mull it over in her head about whether or not to show her beautiful red and orange toned wings.] Fire, and some other elements.
no subject
Are there really that many on this... train?
no subject
[Which means he has no idea how to handle cheese like that. Do you treat it the same as normal cheese or a different way?]
What do we need to do with it?
no subject
As am I, and it appears we are to grate it as well as the carrots.
no subject
[He starts to go a rummage around, so far he see spots and pan and nothing that would look anything remotely like what he needs until at least. He sees it and gets it out.]
Here we go. Now should we grate the carrots first because...the cheese we don't know how that will be.
no subject
[Of all the people here, Ronan figures that he owes this person a warning. He doesn't recognize her, which must mean she's newer, and he'd rather not have her go through what he did of two straight weeks of headaches.]
My name's Ronan, by the way. If you need anything, feel free to find Chainsaw or me. Whoever you come across first.
I'd say this can be wrapped up, yes?
[The advice is greatly appreciated, and she nods at the rest.]
A pleasure, and you have my thanks. My own name is Willow.
no subject
Ah.. yes, because the cheese may erm, not be as easy to grate?
no subject
[He is now us to cooking this much honestly, so this had never really been something he had to think about before now.]
no subject
Not that he'd really seen his types of elementals since he'd left Artepus...from any sort of element...]
Like what? I mean. I only have rapport with Earth, basically. I mean if anything else responds to me, it's due to...something else. [Like Carlson's bequest, or the fact that he's half angel...]
no subject
[She was confused, but shrugged it off with a shake of her head.]
Light and Wind, although a minor in Lightning.

[He shrugs, then. Xander just thinks it's a bit strange. Though some of his teachers might clutch their pearls and recoil in horror, he's figured out it takes all kinds.]
If I have anything else, I'm not aware of it. I can speak to salamanders and some other Fire elementals, but that's because I was given a bequest by another Fire Master. A gift. [And most people kind of get weird about his empathy, so he just won't mention that at the moment...]
no subject
Are you able to use the fire as well, or just speak with those of fire?
no subject
However...I've been taught that it's always better to be friends with elementals, instead of commanding them as if it is my right. A master might be rebelled against, whereas a friend can be told if he's doing something stupid and making a potential mistake.
[Xander shrugs a bit at that, but in truth it's always served him well since he came into his power, and when even his twin, who's decidedly too smart for his own good espouses such, the path of friendship comes highly recommended...]
no subject
sure!
[Ronan glances at Chainsaw and then whistles a few notes, which makes her look up and say "bye" before flying over and landing neatly on his outstretched arm..]
We have something to do now, but we'll see you around.
[He transfers Chainsaw to his shoulder and give a wave before leaving to, uh. Do what he was gonna before this little distraction.]

Befriending those we have mastery over is indeed wise, even if we can control their actions no matter what, but a companion is better company than one enslaved.
