Purple Party Power! | OTA (not just Purple) | Grasshopper 27

When: Day 27rd of Grasshopper, starting in the afternoon, about halfway between lunch and dinner.
Where: Music car, 2nd level
What: The Purple Team Town Hall and Mixer
Who: Though this is primarily for the Purple Team to get together and discuss things, no Team exists in a vacuum. If someone wants to attend, please come.

The upper floor of the Music Carriage is decorated for a party (you can thank Kitty), and there will be music and entertainment after the Meeting portion (you can thank Kitty). Chairs are currently set up facing the small stage, and to the left and right of the stage are the two drink tables. One contains drinks suitable for all ages, the other is clearly labeled, "Alcoholic Beverages, please drink responsibly." To the sides, near the two entrances, are the snack tables (snacks made and donated by generous passengers, including Mami, and Glorfindel, so you know they are good!)

Two of the Purple Team Leads are at the two entrances as well, Glorfindel at one door and Roland at the other until the Meeting starts.

"Welcome to the Team Meeting and Mixer! Please grab some refreshments and a seat, we'll be saying a few words and taking some questions to start, then the party will get started."

[OOC: 1. Threadjacking is encouraged; 2. There will be Top levels for topics but if you're here to crash the party for bonus AC, go for it! No one will stop you!! 3. Glor and Rolo will probably just help keep discussions going if tags get stagnant so people can jump in again! 4. Have fun, don't let either of the team leads DJ LOL!]

As more and more people fill in the Music Car, some holding food, some just standing around waiting for things to begin, Roland, with a thick tome in hand and a pen in the other, straightens up and takes his place next to Glorfindel while addressing everyone with his signature poise. Jema'grethy's events aside, they still had a commitment to keep.

"Thanks for coming, everyone. We appreciate your time, especially after coming from an...interesting holiday. This wasn't mandatory, yet here we all are." His arms are crossed over his chest.

"Why don't we get the ball rolling on Purple's very first get-together with the most important topic: mission protocols." The journal in his hand is opened promptly as he reads out from well-organized notes. "From our last post on the network, we determined that two of the most pertinent issues to iron out and help organize are disseminating support to other Teams, and determining those who can function for Medical support."

He leans his closed fists against the nearest surface, a makeshift table in this case, as he smiles in earnest. Like this was exciting, for him. "With that, the floor is yours for suggestions and volunteers." And so the silence breaks away as the first hand is raised...

The forum moves smoothly enough unto the next topic at hand, which Roland latches on to as soon as the amicable chatter falls into quiet once more. He nods as no more hands are raised, and he proceeds to read from his notes once before looking back up at the crowd.

"Thanks for the lively discussion. Now, on to the second matter of equal importance: supplies." He sighs quietly. "The awarding of points is still a mystery to us, and the most we can do is hustle hard on the train or off of it in hopes that we get enough to purchase what we need or want. But we also noticed that the following issues have arisen from our previous post, as well as when Glorfindel and I began canvassing separately for some ideas."

"There is first, the matter of how to go about acquiring supplies for team or mission usage, and the responsibility of being Quartermaster. That is, someone who can ration out supplies, food, water, medicine, and whatever else have you during missions. Lastly, if anyone has noticed lapses in supplies, please do bring it up now so we can note it down for future purchases as a priority."

Roland twirls his pen and nods to Glorfindel. "Alright, let's hear it everyone."

The writing and note taking continues in earnest, and they're just about halfway done with official business. So as soon as it is appropriate, hushed whispers and separate discussions dying down, Roland moves it along.

"You know, this is all reminding me that we really do come from different backgrounds and specializations. That said, I want to give the floor over to all of you who are eager to showcase your talents to the rest of the team." Roland smiles widely. "Our only jobs here as team leads, I think, is to make sure the right people who are the best at what they do, are where they are needed. So, to the degree to which you're comfortable with, feel free to showcase abilities or skills one at a time. Especially if you've been using them as lone wolves on the field. Remember: you're not alone anymore."

He checks the pages of his book for another note. "Ah, and I know we have a couple of people in Purple whom we've spoken to numerous times who are willing to hold classes. And they're not exclusive to just Purple. So please let us know too. Alright, who wants to show off first? Heh."

"Looks like that's about it, for the main agenda." He flourishes off his script on his mysterious journal that's been going off this entire time they've been talking, closing it with some degree of finality before crossing his arms back against his chest. Can he do this all day? Probably!

"Before we adjourn, did we miss out on anything? Do you have other issues and concerns that all of us might be able to help resolve?" He turns to Glorfindel with a sparkle of mirth in his eye. "I know Glor here would love for some ideas on train improvements, courtesy of Purple. I don't have an eye for decoration myself, but I do appreciate making things look a bit more homely and inviting."

He leaves it there, an open-ended invitation to speak should anyone want to jump onboard that train of thought. It's a bit more casual now, as they proceed further into the afternoon.

He lets out a big sigh of pleasant relief, happy to have had a productive session with Purple. Roland can read the room pretty well too; looks like it's just about time for them to stop the work and start...whatever it is they wanted to do now. He's certain some of them definitely stayed to start with the booze table first.

He's also happy to have had Kitty's help in facilitating what happens after the town hall - he's definitely not the expert on that.

"Okay, okay. Settle down, guys. Glorfindel and I would like to thank you again for helping us figure out how to best organize all your amazing talents into a united cause. If you came up with any ideas after this meeting, then just talk to us anytime." He walks away from the table and waves an arm, casually.

"Go wild. See you guys around. But uh, try the baked goods before you go. Glor's pretzels are something else, and Mami's bread smell amazing from here."

Partaaaaay. And relax. Kitty is DJ-ing, not the two oldies. You're all safe. ~~For now.~~ Participants who are staying to have fun with one another will also find that extra tables have been brought out, rearranged and set about what seems to be a dance floor.

Glorfindel speaks up at this point. "After some discussion, we do have a volunteer to head up the position of Quartermaster. If anyone else would be interested in helping out, I will point you to Cassie Cage. She will be working quite closely with Sonya Blade from Red Team, so that we can make sure other teams are also taken care of."

"Though we may be separated into Teams, we are all in this together. And...we outnumber the other teams, so we need to make sure we are pulling our weight."

[ For someone who just helped facilitate a town hall and a party, why does it look like the best part of this whole thing is over for him? He's just leaning against the wall now, watching people come and go, dance and sing and be merry...There's not even a drink in his hand, the nerve! Just people-watching, a glazed look over his face. ]

[ Should you wish to come talk to him, he'll be accommodating, though, smile warm even as the lights dim and the music gets louder. ]

Hey, thanks for coming. Are you enjoying things so far?

"To get the ball rolling, so to speak, I will mention that I have already purchased a coffee and tea cart to be stationed in one of the Sleeper cars, so that those who need a little something to get going in the morning can actually make it to the Dining Car for breakfast," Glorfindel said with a grin. "It will be arriving the next time we Dock for more passengers."

"Galo, you had suggested to Roland that we make the Recovery Rooms more inviting? Can you expand on what you meant by that?"

"Also, would anyone be interested in helping me put some flower boxes in the Luggage car to help both the air quality, and to make it more welcoming to those that Return?" He was going to take a careful look at it when the newest purchases came in, to make sure any alterations were not in the way.

"So, what do you guys want? Is there anything in particular we want for Purple team?"

He's gotten used to thinking about supplies with helping Lightning, so he doesn't mind piping up for this question. He's curious, but he'll also throw in too:

"You both know about Roland's Arms Bands, but it's a good idea to share them and what they do with the rest of the team, right? They're gonna be our best way of carrying supplies without thinking about the weight."

"You've started us off with a bang, Tidus," Glorfindel said with a grin.

"How much do they cost, point-wise, and how much can they hold?" he asked. "Is there a size limit?"

"Let us not just think about the things we can buy, though. There are some things we can just make. Thanks to you, Tidus, we now have jars, so we can even can food, now."

The thanks makes Tidus a little sheepish, but he brushes it aside, shaking his head.

"I'll leave Roland to talk about the Arms, but for food, I worked with Piccolo to get us better than the jars." And though he put the Arms discussion to Roland, Tidus holds out a hand with a gold band around the wrist, and in a second, a green lunchbox with a black train emblem on front appears.

"He made about a hundred of these, for everyone. Bottles too," and as he says it, a green sports bottle takes the place of the hand that held the lunchbox. He's got full hands now.

"Food keeps in them, and Uta's offered to help make food before missions we can stick in them so they don't go to waste." If the guy's in the room, Tidus looks for him, gives him a quick smile and nod. "I got a friend who wants to learn how to make that bread with you."

"I brought it up before," in general, but he sounds sheepish bringing it up again anyway, "but if you can lend a hand to Blue or Red, they can always do with the help. Blue has a lot of protecting civilian jobs like Purple, but they don't have the same numbers. They can always do with the help."

In a way, trying to help cover them was more important than Red, but nevertheless:

"Red has a lot more being in the heat of the action. 'least, that's what I know. Finding the big source of the problem, that kind of thing."

"That's true, and you're not the only one in Purple who feels this way. Myself included." Roland looks back out to the rest of the crowd, seated and standing.

"For the benefit of those who have just arrived, Red and Blue seem to have the least number of members, but receive very heavy tasks during missions, as Tidus mentioned. If a pattern is to be believed, Red always handles incredibly offense-driven roles, while Blue acts as a shield to support." He makes a hand gesture for emphasis.

"If you find that you are more suited to Red and Blue tasks on missions, by all means please go and assist. All we ask is that we know who goes where, and to that end, we'd like to ask everyone on Purple to grab earbuds from this car before we end this session. We can help you connect it to your SCA. It will be your main form of communication, even remotely, when on duty." Incredibly handy, they are. He isn't one to pull out strict mandatories, but this is one of the few Roland will insist on.

"Oh yeah, and take one of the Purple bags from the dressing car if you grab one, yeah?" Hearing Roland speak reminds of that point, and he throws a look over to the Team Lead.

"You still doing that? So we have some way of telling each other in the teams. Look out for one another."

"Okay then, if that's a volunteer, then Cassie Cage will be Quartermaster until further notice, in conjunction with Sonya Blade from the Red Team. She anyone would like to share that load with her." Notes are being taken down even as Roland speaks, not even looking down on the page.

There are a couple of things being discussed now that deserve some explanation, so Roland starts with the easiest. He turns slightly to Glorfindel, who first brings up the question on Arms Bands. "On the onboard shop, they're 45 points a piece. No size limit, except for weapons. It can hold three melee weapons and one ranged one, like a pistol, a wand, a bow and arrow. Guns will receive infinite ammo when attached to the Arms Band, and it will remember special skills to the extent that you learn them. For items, you can store as many as you want inside, so long as none of it is alive and breathing like a pet. Tidus mentioned food, and that's correct too. It's handy for making sure food stays edible."

He then turns back to Tidus, sitting somewhere at the back. "I do want to give a small commendation to Tidus over here for helping out with supplies. It's been his mission since the day I met him to make sure everyone on this train had enough to go around." Sorry to put you on the spot, but Roland's not one to pass up an opportunity to lift someone up! "But speaking of - is that an accurate count for every person who needs to eat and drink on the train?"

"Sure. Wear the right uniforms too. It's not the most fashionable, I admit, but it does the job of telling each other apart, heh." He writes Tidus's suggestion down as a sub-point, but it doesn't take him long to finish the task.

"I would also like to emphasize that while it isn't impossible for Purple and Orange to see combat on a mission, and those on Terra last mission will attest to this, Red and Blue often get the brunt of it early on with little to no rest or backup in between." His face falls slightly serious. "They see a lot of combat right away. If you decide to go to either one of them to help, please be confident that you can fight tough enemies. We trust that you know yourselves better than anyone in this room."

He hums in thought. "Are we all aware of the emergency function of the SCA?"

Lift someone up?? Tidus is grimacing, embarrassed, folding his arms--once poofing back away the drink and box--and looking elsewhere so he doesn't have to face the brunt of putting the spotlight on him this way. Raising a hand to rub at the back of his head briefly.

There's a small breath as he starts to speak. "Don't know about count, but they're easy for him to make. We just did that many at the time so I could put them away." Considering he had to move them...all...

"I think all of us need to figure out how we're gonna hand out food--you know, from the start. Someone can hold onto them in the Arms on the ground, but is every team going to sort their own food? Or should we be working together on this? Wouldn't it be easier?"

[ Intruder alert. Well, it's hard not to tell he's from another team when that team is orange - but Roland invited him. He's not carrying anything weird with him this time, if one discounted the fact he'd cut up one of his shirts and made it into wrist bracers.

He'll accept an alcoholic drink, one, and then he will promptly park himself off to the side, and sit down with his drink.

He's officially there, that counts as meeting his obligation right? He takes a sip and hums.]

Better than anything I've made. [ A wry and pleased observation. If no one comes to talk to him, he's fine with that, he can just officially say he attended. ]

[ He almost misses Senku, but when you're a dot of orange in a sea of purple, it's going to be near impossible, especially when you're eagle-eyed like Roland. With a drink in his hand, just a glass to nurse throughout the whole affair, he makes his way to Senku with a surprised look on his face, smiling. ]

Senku. You made it. I'm glad to see you here - [ Ready for your first ice breaker, Senku? Roland doesn't say anything else, but gestures his glass, tips it forward waiting for Senku to meet him in the middle....For what....Senku you can do it!! ]

[ It's easy to stand out on colours alone, and he's never been a fan of bright colours in his clothing choices, but what is he going to do?

He raises a hand in greet. ]

Hey. [ Senku offers the greeting, but doesn't acknowledge the comment. ]

At least they had a resource person now - Piccolo, who could replicate items in the event that they needed more. It's noted down as well.

As for the other matter, he does agree; "I think it's already a good start that we have two volunteer Quartermasters with one being in Purple, the other being in Red. We can encourage Orange and Blue to consider the same, and to prioritize the Arms Band distribution to them first." Roland speaks but addresses this to everyone else, in case someone would like to say something to add or refute the case.

"Arms Bands ideally, should be the priority equipment of those in charge of supply distribution, combatants, and medical personnel. Especially when they cost what they do, and we don't exactly have a credit line running here..." Which is a source of frustration for Roland, ever since. Would it kill their kidnappers to just tell them how to get points?

....

[ Roland pulls his face, trying not to chuckle too much, and clinks his glass against Senku's. A toast.

Wow, Roland might have been right from the start. ]

...Yeah, hey yourself. Did you just get here, or did you catch some of our town hall?

[ Sometimes, he's just not that perceptive, it's better to be direct with him. Very. Direct. ]

I just got here, so I missed it. Did you learn anything new about the situation?

[ That's what seems to be the pertinent question here. ]

[ While the rest of the passengers were doing their own thing, Roland doesn't mind talking shop at all. He takes a sip of his drink before responding. ]

Depends on what you consider as 'new' information. Though there was some lively discussion on the whole Arms Band situation. Who knew something so common from where I'm from could provide so much help, here?
