It's a pretty simple principle--you don't get optimal results working people half to death. My job is to bring out potential, not make them resent having it to begin with. I don't tolerate careless mistakes, and I always ask that my students give me the absolute best they have. Usually, they end up giving me better than that, and that's the ideal end goal.
