Vassals served the Overlord in more than one way, after all. A vassal who didn't turn against the Overlord when said Overlord no longer served their purpose was a poor vassal indeed. The potential threat of a servant with any meaningful power would help him get back on his game, even if this guy proved completely useless otherwise.
