a man for flowers ✿ ( INIGO ) ([personal profile] flatteries) wrote in [community profile] voidtreckerexpress 2020-10-24 04:30 pm (UTC)

There is just so much in what Roland says. Maybe a little too much, a little too overwhelming. Because Inigo's eyes can't help but fill up with tears, despite Jumblie's influence, despite her light shining so brightly that it feels like it reaches right into his heart. Maybe that's the only thing that keeps the tears from falling, but they're still there, Inigo's eyes getting so glossy.

If not just because he can see it. The emotion in Roland's own eyes. That tone he uses to say all those words. And then the implication - I kind of know what that's like, not having something to go back to.

Roland is hurt too. It's so obvious. It's been obvious ever since that day on the vulcano, when Inigo's heart flowed over with worry for the other man. Inigo isn't the only one carrying so much with him - not the only one carrying a heavy burden, since Roland must too, maybe even moreso. Inigo is only a price, after all. Roland was the president. The king. Roland was like his father.

He's not sure what to reply to the rest. He's not sure of his future, what he wants to do with it, if he even wants something to do with it. Inigo has no words for it.

But he does have words for something else.

".. What happened to you, father..?"

Instead of Roland squeezing Inigo's hands, it's Inigo squeezing the one he's still holding onto now - tightly. Not tearing his gaze away from Roland, wanting to see the truth in those eyes.

"Don't avoid the question this time. Please.. tell me."
