This is dumb. All so dumb. Yet something about what Piccolo says makes Inigo move out of the booth too until he’s standing in front of Tidus, between the two. Not to hug Piccolo though - he really doesn’t look like he’s about to. Instead there’s something weirdly defensive about his stance.
“Nothing about hugs is dumb! And more importantly—- why would Tidus need an especially there, huh?” Most normal people might figure Piccolo just doesn’t want hugs from just about anyone. But Inigo is both dumb and also can’t help but feel a bit more protective over his friend with how much of a hard time Tidus has had lately - even in this case that protectiveness is used in absolutely the least useful situation.
“You aren’t being mean to my friend, are you? I won’t stand for that!”
That might have been a tad more impressive if Inigo didn’t look like a pouty toddler as he says it.
