Ukoku. The heretical Sanzo must not have been in the room, which was probably why he'd 'missed' Kouryuu and hit the larger body shielding him, instead.

"...Ukoku never liked how much of my time and attention went to my son," Koumyou continues quietly, feeling rather detached from it all. "I believe the intention was for Kouryuu to die, and for the youkai to provide plausible deniability."
