Ichigo was doing his best to keep better hours in the med car, and had just finished a shift. He had Shiro in his arms, rubbing the gangly kitten's belly as he entered the kitchen. His senses told him that was where he would find Grimmjow, and he wasn't disappointed. Walking over, he lightly kissed the edge of the arrancar's mask and smiled. "What're you making?"

Grimmjow looked up from where he was stirring a pot of.... something. On the stove, shrugging his shoulders. "No fuckin' idea," he replied reasonably. "Just threw a bunch of stuff in." It looked and smelled like some kind of curry, but Grimmjow's secret was that he'd just tossed in anything he'd found that was already cut up. Meat, veggie, fruit. There was a little bit of everything in there. There was at least one avocado pit floating in it, too.

Looking into the pot, Ichigo watched a few things float past. He did point at the avocado pit. "That's not food. It's the seed of the fruit, and we could prepare one for planting in the greenhouse, but it's not edible." Shiro did his best to crawl up onto Grimmjow's shoulder because he could.

Leaning over to make Shiro's attempts a little easier, Grimmjow picked up a slotted spoon and fished out the avocado pit, dropping it onto the spoon rest for later consideration. "I thought seeds were edible," he countered, lifting a brow at Ichigo. "You humans gotta make up your minds about what is and isn't food."

He was still going to try to eat the avocado pit, at some point.

"It depends on the plant, really. Some plants rely on their seeds being eaten to grow new plants, some can handle it on their own." He could hear Shiro purring on Grimmjow's shoulder, and he couldn't resist pressing himself a little into the arrancar's side. "The rest of it smells good, though."

A blush dusted across Grimmjow's cheeks, but he kept his attention on the soup. "Sure hope so, 'cause I got no idea what I'm doin'." He admitted it quietly, like he was afraid of someone managing to overhear. "So you here 'cause you're hungry or somethin' else?"

"Little bit of both." The blush was really cute, and Ichigo stepped to Grimmjow's other side so he wasn't in the way of the arrancar stirring the pot. He slid his arm around Grimmjow's waist and leaned into him because he could. "Had an idea for our rings, so I thought I'd come find you."

The blush was only getting darker with Ichigo touching him like that. He leaned into it, allowing himself the luxury, knowing that he could trust his fiancé. "Oh, yeah? Somethin' fancy?"

"Yeah, kinda." Since Grimmjow was leaning into him, Ichigo stayed put. He even rested his head against his fiancé's shoulder because he could. "I was thinking something where the metal of the ring looks like folded steel, like in a sword. With just a few stones set in the top. And that we could do the stones based on the colors of our reiatsus."

He loved the touching so much, Ichigo might've just signed on to stay at his side for the rest of the evening. He hummed in appreciation at the description of the rings. "Sounds nice," he replied. "They'll match, right? 'Side from the stone colors?"

"There might be some slight variations in the patterns, but yeah, they'll mostly match." The food smelled good, but Grimmjow smelled better, and Ichigo might have been giving in and sniffing not so subtly at the man's neck. "Yours'll have rubies, and mine'll have blue topaz."

He nodded, a little grin creeping up on his face as he noticed the sniffing. "Yeah? I like it," he replied softly. "How d'you know when stuff's cooked?" He pulled his spoon out of the pot, pouring a little of the broth out. It was bubbling gently, but he wasn't sure if that counted as 'cooked'.

"Is there meat in it? Making sure that's cooked through and that the veggies are soft are how you know it's done." Not that he was pulling away to get a little tasting bowl, of course.

[kingcat]

"Only meat that was already cooked when I put it in," he replied, fishing out a chunk of potato that at least looked nice and soft. He picked it up between two fingers and blew on it a few times.

He'd learned his lesson about putting hot food in his mouth, at least. When it was cool enough, he took an almost dainty nibble off the edge of it. "S'soft," he decided.

"So I should get some bowls to eat out of, I suppose?" Not that Ichigo was moving to do so just yet, of course. He was quiet happy to be up in Grimmjow's personal space.

He hummed softly, giving a little nod. "Cookin' a little longer won't hurt it," he said softly, leaning a little more of his weight against Ichigo. "Besides, the bowls are all the way on the other side of the car..." he sighed heavily.

Humming softly, Ichigo pressed a kiss to Grimmjow's cheek. "Turn the heat down a little, then. Otherwise it'll overcook." And if they were going to let it simmer, he was going to take advantage of more of his partner's attention.
