What: A surprise that isn't surprising to anyone who has ever had a cat

One morning not long after her arrival on the train, waking up might be a little odd for Kairi. Spark, having gotten lonely and cold and remembering that hey, he's a cat, decided to solve this in the best kitty way he knew. He grabbed his pillow from his bunk in his mouth, dragged it onto Kairi'a bunk, settled the pillow behind her, so his scent was in the bed then flopped himself out over her shoulder and went to sleep, slowly stretching throughout the night until he'd claimed her whole side, pinning her arm.


The pillow, covered in cat fur, somehow wound up right in front of her face...

Kairi moved slightly, she felt something that was different so she felt herself shifting ever so slightly as she started to wake up and glanced over.

She paused for a brief moment and just wondering when he did get there? Shifting her head she moved to for the most part check to see if the other was asleep still or awake.

When she shifted, he took that as an invitation and shifted to sleep on her face with a half awake yawn.

Kairi soon moved her hands in order to pluck him off for the moment before looking up at him "Faces are not great places to sleep. Pillows are much more comfortable."

"When I sleep on Dominic's face he wakes up and then might as well make breakfast. I like fish for breakfast," he told her cheerfully. "How about you?"

"I don't even know if it's time to wake up yet." Considering they travel through a void it's very hard to actually tell when it's considered morning and when it's not. It all just looks the same out the window.

"I mean no one else seems to be awake and I don't want to bother the others by getting up."

"We'll get up quietly then," he said simply, rolling over against her to be all cute.

"You need not worry overmuch." The voice that answers is soft and sweet and maybe a little sad - and definitely a man's.

"Our other cabinmate does not find these beds comfortable so she does not spend much time here, and I do not sleep much. You can move around at ease - I can leave the cabin to you, if you wish."

"You could join us and help make fish!" he offered, like that was a grand invitation rather than his usual begging for feeding.

"I don't think we actually have any fish in the kitchen. I know when I gave you some last time there was none left, but I can make everyone some breakfast."

As to what she would cook, she didn't know. AShe was just happy to at least do it.

"Then first we must Find Fish! Fun Fish Finding Friends Forever!"

Xichen blinks at the alliteration, his face softening almost to the beginning of a smile. "I am not the best person to help with cooking, unless it is making tea or boiling rice. And I ... do not know where one can get fish on this train." Not that he's done so, but at least back home he knows where he could get fish, and that it will be fresh.

Except...

"Unless fish in a can will do? There may be some of that in the storage car."

"If there is no other fish, I suppose I could dance to the tunea some tuna fish. It's not on the same scale as fresh, but at least it is still fish. Can we go sea the food?"

"I mean it's still techically fish after all right?" Or at least it still had fish in it anyway, so it was still fish in her mind. But now it just meant she had to get out of bed in order to do it, but with her being hungry she knew it was possible.

"You both can wait here... Might take an hour to get food done though since I have to walk all that way to the kitchen."

"I can go with you if you prefur."

Xichen blinks again. It takes him a moment because while the place allows for translation, his thought process is still... well, not in English, but then he does find the puns funny, and nods.

"If you wish more company, I can join, or let you two chat?" An adult is not always welcome.

"Hey, good pun!" he said, pleased. So have fun trying to figure out what pun he meant, given that no one here knew he has a connection to France or could speak French. But for him, chat as in talk was a good pun for chat as in cat.

"Anyone who can pun that well is always welcome!"

"then I guess I will just go it alone." Kairi has yet to pun, so as a joke she figured to say this. But soon she gives a small chuckle before finally moving to get up and start her journey.

"But in seriousness, both of you can come."

"And in seriousness, you can learn," he said cheerfully. Learning is best done with fish." He jumped clear so she could get up.

"Well... the learning has not really worked well before - I have generally beet disallowed from trying to prepare food in the kitchen so that I do not set it on fire - but I can at least watch, and cut things up as you need them."

Spark... he was a vegetarian.

Vegetables go great with fish. So that's fine.

"So we'll have to teach you better!" meaning Kairi, of course.

"But how can you improve to not set food on fire if you aren't allowed to even practice?" It was at least the way to improve either way.

But Kairi went about going to grab what she needs and started to at least prep.
