Make the Clock Reverse (Day 22 Jelly)

Make the Clock Reverse,
Bring back what once was mine.

On the evening of Day 21, before it goes dark, any Voidtreckers who look out of the windows might see the void is a little more chaotic than usual. There's a little bit of turbulence. Nothing too bad, nowhere near how bad it got during the void storm, but noticeable all the same.

It doesn't last long, and the night continues. Those who are not early to bed may see the odd golden flicker out of the corner of their eyes, darting away and vanishing if pursued.

Strange...

Heal what has been hurt,
Change the fates' design.

"Good Morning passengers. Today is day twenty two of the month of Jelly." The morning announcement wakes everyone up as usual, and they awaken in their own beds.

Though, for some passengers, those beds may seem completely unfamiliar: a strange room full of people they don't recognise. For others the room and people are perfectly normal, just... bigger than they remember them being yesterday.

Or it might be that they feel healed, old scars faded. The changes might be small, sporting their embarrassing teenage hair cut; or drastic, their whole body younger.

Either way, it is clear that something very strange has happened on the train.

(OOC: All the information about this event is Here. All changes will reverse the next night and passengers will wake up normal on day 23.

Update: In early afternoon the dressing carriage cupboards will open and animal onesies will be available in child size.)

She had wanted to make things for other people right? And it seemed like she was leaving it up to him, so he would go with what he knew.

Yoite selected a loaf of bread and then considered, what could they put on the sanwiches?

He gestured at the shelf and then shrugged. Would she like to pick something?

Thankfully the choice of bread does make the instant thought of sandwiches pretty easy. Madoka can't really think of what else he could want by pointing out bread of all things - maybe toast? But they'd need some other stuff for that..

She'll just assume he meant sandwiches for now. Even though it makes Madoka look around for other stuff to put on there. Not like they're just going to eat plain bread!

"Are you sure you don't have a preference for what you want on it?"

Since she figures that shrug means he doesn't mind.. But who knows, maybe it's just that he'd want her to pick what she prefers. But Madoka is okay with everything as long as the other person is happy.

Yoite considered that a moment and he nodded. He didn't mind, and he was hoping she had a suggestion. He was going to enjoy this one, but he didn't know which kind of sandwich he should try while he could.

He pointed at her, a little more insistantly. Wouldn't she like to pick?

"Okay, okay, I'll pick!"

Madoka doesn't seem to mind though. Instead she laughs as she looks through the ingredients. Putting avocado on it would probably be overkill, considering how much of that there is this month..

But then her eye falls on something else, and a realisation dawns.

"Oh, I could make strawberry sandwiches! Do you like those, Yoite-san?" He's from Japan too, so she's sure he's familiar with them as well. Unless he was really sheltered..

He actually had no idea. He'd never had them before. He shrugged helplessly, he had no idea, but he did gesture towards the strawberries. Maybe she could show him?

He was unfortunately, exactly that sheltered.

.. Madoka stares at him for a moment, before curiously slightly tilting her head sideways. That's an odd reaction.. Had he never heard of them before? Madoka thinks they're so common though!

But she does grab the strawberries. If he had no protest, then she's totally going to make those. She loves it. So here goes Madoka, taking the stuff along to the counter so she can start making the strawberry sandwiches.

"Well, even if you haven't had them before.. I'm sure you're going to love them, Yoite-san! They're so delicious and sweet!"

Yoite smiled at her and nodded as he set out the bread, look he could help with that part. He knew that part at least. He hadn't ever considered a fruit sandwich before, even after he learned how to make them.

Madoka was clearly an experimental genius in this area.

~~Yes, clearly she's not just mimicking something she's already seen before..~~

But she seems happy to work on it all the same. Especially if it gives Yoite something to do too, rather than just sit around by himself like that. It already seems so hard for him to interact with other people on most days, let alone when he can't even talk to people right now..

So she's eager to give him more to do too, pulling out the strawberries and moving to grab a knife.

"Can you help me cut the strawberries too?"

He seemed to consider her question and he nodded. He figured he could manage cutting strawberries just fine.

He reached out and selected a knife and held out his hands to be given the berries.

It was bound to be an interesting sandwich, wasn't it?

Madoka smiles and hands the berries over to him.

"Just cut off the stems first, and then.. um, if you just cut them in half, I think that should work!" It's been a while since she was able to have these sandwiches. It's been such a long time since she's last been in Japan, after all.. So it takes her a moment to think of what exactly those sandwiches looked like.

She's pretty sure though that they had halved strawberries in them.

"I guess in the meantime I could see if we have anything I could make cream out of.."

Yoite can manage those simple instructions easily enough and he sliced through the top of one strawberry.

He tilted his head a bit in askance at the cream.

Then, he waited for Madoka's back to be turned and that strawberry disappeared into his mouth.

Thankfully for him it's very easy to let that escape Madoka's notice, especially since she's busy thinking about the possibility of whether there can be cream or not to make these strawberry sandwiches perfect..

Which means she's thinking rather than looking at Yoite for a few moments, mentally going over all the ingredients she knows they have this month. Maybe she could substitute it with ice cream from the ice cream machines-- but no, that'd get weird, wouldn't it..

"Ah, well, I guess we may have to do without.." Strawberries should be delicious on bread regardless, she thinks. Right? Like jam!

It's then that she finally looks back over at him. Hopefully he isn't in the middle of eating yet another strawberry!

"How are you doing with the strawberries so far, Yoite-san?"

Yoite may have been suspiciously chewing on something that may or may not have been a strawberry.

He also had only managed to have three cut on the board in front of him.

A couple may have mysteriously vanished.

Her gaze drops to the board.

".. Y-Yoite-san, where did all the strawberries go?"

Did someone take them while she had her back turned?! Did someone bully poor Yoite, and he couldn't even tell her about it since he can't seem to talk right now?

But then her gaze slowly travels back up to his face, and-- oh.

Oh. There's the culprit.

"Y-You ate them already?!"

When she comes to the realization Yoite glanced at the board and back at her and offered a sheepish smile.

He held one out to her. He was sorry?

Yoite ought to be glad that Madoka hardly ever - or, well, more like actually never - gets angry. It means she doesn't even feel annoyed or anything that the other ate the strawberries they were going to use. All she does is give the offer a slightly awkward smile before shaking her head, slowly coming down from her surprise.

"N-No, it's fine.. You can have it.."

Her goal was mostly to give him something to do and something to eat in the first place, so she.. supposes that has been accomplished now.

"Do we still have enough strawberries left to put on a sandwich though..?"

Yoite shrugged at her question, he was kind of glad she wasn't mad, but he hadn't really meant to eat more than one, it just happened.

He gestured with a sweep of his hand for her to look and see if what was left was enough.

Madoka moves over to look at the strawberries..

.. and her expression drops a bit.

"Ah, I don't.. think that's going to be enough.."

There's not a whole lot left now, after all. And technically Madoka could go grab more from the storage, but she wants there to be some left for other people. It'd feel too selfish to grab more.

So the girl shakes her head, and then smiles.

"But.. I think there's enough left for one sandwich! So don't worry, I'll still make you one..!" She'll just have to pass up on having one herself.

He looked like he was thinking about it and then he reached over to take the bread to mime his point.

Then he put his hand over it like he was cutting it in half diagonally.

Maybe she would like to share?

"You want to share..?" She asks, as if to confirm she got the meaning of the gesture right. Hey, maybe he just wanted his sandwich cut in half, who knows!

But Madoka likes to think Yoite is nicer than that, so she figures this is the more likely interpretation.

"Are you sure? It's your first time trying it, so I wouldn't want you to only have a little bit!"

Yoite was actually very pleased that he got his point across. He offered her a smile and a nod. He would very much like to share, even if it was his first time trying it, since she was going through the effort of making it, and they were friends right?

"Okay then!"

Honestly, even though she absolutely adores strawberries, Madoka gladly would have let him have it all if it seemed like he wanted it.. She's selfless enough for it, after all.

But if he really wants to share, she's not going to make some big fuss about that either. Instead she just cuts the finished sandwich diagonally in half before stepping aside.

"Here, you can take whichever half you want. I hope you enjoy it..!" That's the main point here, after all. Even if Madoka is happy to have some sweet strawberries herself, she mostly wants to see if he likes it or not from his expression!

Yoite smiled at her.

He selected the half closest to him and held it up before taking a small bite.

He paused a moment, tasting it which was part of the novelty of the day and then flashed her a thumb's up. It was really good!
