Who: Koumyou Sanzo, OPEN
Where: All over the train!
When: Kazoo 17-20
What: Koumyou Sanzo napping in increasingly ridiculous locations all over the train. (Giving it its own post because it's not platform day related.)
Warnings: Probably nothing.

(Unless stated otherwise, Koumyou is in his usual Sanzo uniform. Mr. Wiggles may be in some of these as well. I will match prose or brackets. TY Avie and Matt for suggested spots.)

xxxxx🌙 In A Cabinet

Your character opens a cabinet somewhere. Under the kitchen counter? Above the kitchen counter? In stores? Literally anywhere else with cabinets that aren't locked?

And instead of finding what they were looking for, they find Koumyou Sanzo, fast asleep, drooling a little bit on the wood under his cheek.

xxxxx🌙 Washing Machine

He'd tried to do laundry. He really had. It's blue's turn, and the priest had thought he was up to doing it...

But now here he is, standing in front of a running washing machine with his upper half leaned over onto it, head pillowed on his arms, absolutely passed out. At least it's kind of warm?

xxxxx🌙 Under A Table

Your character takes a seat at a table in the dining car, only to realize there's something underneath it, down at their feet. Something soft?

A body!

But not a dead one. Koumyou is just conked out on the floor down there, like you do. A pitch black cat with glowing purple eyes is curled up on top of him, giving your character a look. Excuse you, can't you see they're napping here?

xxxxx🌙 In The Sauna

Well, at least going into this location, Koumyou had known he'd probably end up asleep. That's normal, for him. But sitting upright in the sauna in his swim trunks was still new for him, head tipped back and to the side against the wall behind him.

That's a lot of scars and bruises on display, stretched over his wiry frame.

...Is he snoring? He's absolutely snoring. And he's definitely going to have a sore neck after this.

Here Koumyou's sitting on the floor with his back against a bookcase, an open book on his lap and a black cat on the book. This time, his head's tipped forward. Maybe he's reading?

He's... slowly tipping over to one side, so maybe not.

xxxxx🌙 Wildcard

(Feel free to think of somewhere else he could have passed out for your character to find, if you like. Or we can do something else entirely, I'm easy-going. He won't climb INTO a washer or the fridge or anything like that, but otherwise shit's fair game. On the climbing frame in the gym? In a sleeper car hallway? On top of a food crate? Go wild.)

Washing Machine

After managing to change in his cabin, Thanatos makes the long trek back to the laundry room. He's in a drier change of clothes, having been soaked, but that leaves him with soaked clothes needing to dry out.

Thanatos hangs up the wet clothes and then finds his own spot to curl up and fall asleep in. He's wearing the blue hoodie he exchanged with Zagreus, so he actually appears to be doing his team's chore even though he's waiting for a red hoodie and cargo pants to dry.

And that's how things are for a solid several minutes. Just two guys napping in the laundry room, nothing weird there.

The washer Koumyou's slumped over goes into a spin cycle, and even that doesn't wake him up on its own--

Until it shakes him right off of itself, sending the priest to the floor with a startled yelp.

Two guys just napping in the laundry room.

Until there's that thud and yelp startling Thanatos awake. He summons his sword in alarm, but the laundry room comes into greater focus. Thanatos disappears it again. "Are you all right?"

"Owwww..." that's a pitiful whine coming from the floor, where Koumyou has remained. "I don't even know what happened..."

Thanatos will just slowly float and bob over to Koumyou and offer a hand up. "I don't know either."

Koumyou accepts the help up with one hand, rubbing the side of his face with his other. But he's immediately distracted, because--

"Oh! You're the floaty guy!"

Very. Useful. Observation. Koumyou.

[controlsthedie]

"I... yes. My name is Thanatos." Was this really the same person who could charm weaponry back on the mission? Perhaps he's been drained by the events as much as Thanatos had.

[its_dad_sanzo]

"Thanatos the floaty guy... who thought a bald little monk must be superhuman, even holy."

That's right, he's referring to the time most of the train got aged down. Remember Houmei, Death?

[controlsthedie]

Bald little monk... Oh!

"Houmei. You look and act very different." Thanatos had changed a lot too, but he's still recognizable, he thinks. Mort squeaks. He's still here too! "Are you a demigod, or did you discover another answer?"

[its_dad_sanzo]

"Koumyou Sanzo, now. Or just Sanzo for short," Koumyou corrects cheerfully, "I gave up that name a long, long time ago."

What an easy way to gloss over that whole... thing.

"I'm human! But for whatever reason, I can snap my will into place like," he snaps two bony fingers, "that. I think I'm just weird, and that's fine by me."

Unlike young Houmei, Koumyou has learned to accept being a freak.

"People who aren't weird probably don't doze off on top of washing machines, right?"

[controlsthedie]

"Hm, well, if you're satisfied with that answer then, that's that." No need to dwell upon it. Koumyou Sanzo seems happy enough, though he could also be hiding his pain. Thanatos doesn't know him either way to really tell.

"On top of, no. Even after an exhausting mission." Thanatos may have fallen asleep where he didn't intend to, but he hasn't been sleeping on top of any machine. Especially one moving and making as much noise as these.

(Thanatos is still weird, however.)

"I've met a couple other people now who can do the same, so I think it's just extremely rare."

And not, you know, some divine gift. Or something that made him a freak, like he'd been told so often as a kid.

[controlsthedie]

"... Sleeping on top of a washing machine?"

Thanatos has to wonder if he's somehow met Hypnos. Hypnos would fall asleep on top of a washing machine. Or at least fall asleep floating above a washing machine. He could probably fall asleep anywhere.

Koumyou laughs at that, equal parts exhausted and delighted.

"Maybe so!"

In truth, he'd meant the whole magic without chanting, thing... but this is much funnier.

[controlsthedie]

Sometimes, Thanatos really hates how vague and confusing words can be. Is it any wonder he has such trouble with communication?

"Please do not count me among those who sleep on washing machines. I am waiting for my clothes to dry, not be washed."

[its_dad_sanzo]

"Really? You've never slept on one once? But they're so comfy..."

Leave it to Koumyou to troll Death.

[controlsthedie]

"I normally do not sleep." And he really doesn't trust that those are comfy at all.

[its_dad_sanzo]

"Well, no time like the present!" Koumyou can't fucking help himself. He pats the washing machine next to his, and then leans down onto the one he'd been slumped onto before. "If you're brave enough to try it."

[controlsthedie]

"I'm not one of the ones who constantly have to prove themselves for the sake of their pride."

So that means he stays exactly where he is.

[its_dad_sanzo]

"No? That's a shame," Koumyou actually stays slumped onto the washer, though he lifts his head and props his chin on a hand. "People with big egos are fun to poke at."

[controlsthedie]

"You'll need to find a different target." Still, Thanatos forces himself up to check on the status of his clothing. If it's not dripping wet, he can drape it across the railing of his bunk to finish drying.

Laundry is such an annoying chore.

[its_dad_sanzo]

"Ah, just as well," Koumyou straightens up and gives a big stretch, arms up over his head and all. "That floating trick's still cool."

[controlsthedie]

"It's not a trick. It's just something that I do." Thanatos folds his clothing, even if it's slightly damp still. He gives a curt nod of farewell before he wobble floats out the door. Maybe he'll pass out once he reaches the cabin.

Sauna

[nutkrusher]

Cassie's got a bathing suit, a towel, and a bemused smirk on as she stands with the sauna door open.

She's never been one to be excessively polite, so she gives him a hard nudge as she prepares to sit down.

"Yo, wake up before you sweat yourself dry."

Koumyou cracks open an eye at the hard nudge, but doesn't otherwise move.

"Is that really a thing that could happen?"

[nutkrusher]

"Feel free to go back to sleep if you'd care to find out," Cassie says.

"Hmm," the priest looks like he's going to do just that for a moment, and then he lifts a hand to the gaudy armband clamped high on his opposite bicep, and in a flash of golden light he produces a bottle of water.

Uncaps it.

Chugs.

All while looking like he's an inch away from falling back asleep.

Once the bottle's empty, it goes back into the ARMs band and Koumyou slumps against the back of the bench again, cracking a yawn into one bony hand.

"Took the third road."

[nutkrusher]

"Yeah, I think you've been in here long enough, my dude."

She nudges him a little more firmly.

"At some point you're gonna have to get up to piss out whatever you don't sweat."
