Well, stopping shut-down is pretty tangible, and will hopefully have an end-point. Soldat might have a tiny hope that "get better" will have an end-point, that maybe someday they will actually be better, and won't have to worry about the slog towards being fully functional again. "I guess I don't do anything by half-measures, do I?" they ask with half a smile. "They're important, though."
