The question catches Jade off-guard, a spark of surprise hitting the emotion bleed, followed by gentle bafflement. He takes this to mean Roland is from a universe that has soulmates. Subsequently he wonders if Roland's world has a concept of it that isn't the fiction-approved romantic connotations - but, it must. It really must, for him to be asking like this.

Jade thinks briefly about Kratos and Anna, then discards it. Whatever they have going on is an outlier, not the norm. If soulmates truly existed in their world - and what an incredulous thought, that! - then it would not be limited to one man and woman.
