OTA Purple Team Meeting!
Who: Anyone interested in Purple Team, being nosy, whatevs.
Where: Sports gymnasium
When: 2 Llama
What: So you’re in Purple Team. What now?
Warnings: TBA.
[ An ICP call is made out towards the end of breakfast, announcing that the meeting will be in half an hour for Purple Team, and they should use the SCA’s countdown timer to know what that is; this’ll be a particularly good meeting for any newbies. Half of the sports gymnasium has been reserved for this simple gathering, a collection of the double-chairs from the music carriage unbolted and borrowed, and a few people already stand waiting for the meeting to begin.
A table has been set out with some cups and a jug of water, and some sheets of the Purple census. Also, let's be real: someone brought snacks. Kitty is sitting on the table near the front of the room, her feet swinging lightly. Once things quiet down a bit, she hops off the table and faces out to address everyone with a friendly smile. ]
[ Roland stands in quiet contemplation beside Kitty for the most part, laying low and keeping his head tilted down as he reads something from his notebook settled on the table. The only time he brings attention to himself is when he feels the slight dip and pause in the flow of conversation after she speaks. A gentle pivot from one heel leads him to face the gathering crowd with practiced ease, arms crossed over his chest, and a determined expression he seems to wear rather well. ]
[ He glances briefly behind him. ]
[ He shows his back and nods confidently at the said point persons and Kitty herself before he takes his small gathering of notes in his arms. ]
( ooc: Welcome to the Purple Meeting! Kitty will speak about missions, Roland about Purple roles, Cassie about inventory and team supplies, and Tidus and Inigo about available equipment and training. Soldat will be mentioned as helping with food prep, along with Mami, and anyone willing to help them are asked to approach them one on one.
New or old, if your character wants to speak about anything, give their own advice, ask questions, do so! People will be encouraged to share their skills, and also to offer any training - combat or otherwise - they're willing to teach. )

Hey, guys! My name’s Kitty. Welcome to the meeting for Purple Team. For those of you who are new, I know things might be a little confusing or overwhelming right now, but that’s what we’re here for! This meeting is just to give everyone a bit of information based on what we’ve learned from our time here on the train, and if you have any questions about anything, don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. I can’t promise we can give you answers for everything, but we’ll do what we can to help out.
And if you have something you’d like to share, feel free to speak up! These meetings also let us exchange information, so if there’s something you think should be discussed that we haven’t talked about, definitely let us know.
And if you have something you’d like to share, feel free to speak up! These meetings also let us exchange information, so if there’s something you think should be discussed that we haven’t talked about, definitely let us know.
[ Roland stands in quiet contemplation beside Kitty for the most part, laying low and keeping his head tilted down as he reads something from his notebook settled on the table. A gentle pivot from one heel leads him to face the gathering crowd with practiced ease, arms crossed over his chest, and a determined expression he seems to wear rather well. ]
On that note, please do consider attending our Purple debriefings before we’re deployed off the train. This is where we assess the information sent over our SCA’s, figuring out who’s better off helping another team, and who will be staying with our group. Any showcase of powers that might be relevant to the task at hand will also be welcome information, so we can support you come game time. [ A beat. Then, a hand gesture. ] That is, if you’re comfortable enough to share it.
[ He glances briefly behind him. ]
Before I forget, there are a couple of things left to discuss...ah, but what am I saying? [ Roland’s lips crack a small, controlled smile, though not lacking in genuine mirth. ] We’ve got plenty of liaisons ready to assist you for any and all questions you might have. [ His memory is stoked, and before retreating behind the table again, he says one last thing in no particular rush. ] For those I have yet to make acquaintances with, my name is Roland Crane. Rest assured that I’ll be doing my utmost to assist this team to the best of my abilities.
[ He shows his back and nods confidently at the said point persons and Kitty herself before he takes his small gathering of notes in his arms. ]
Floor’s still yours, Kitty. Everyone. Please, mingle away.

Roland Crane | Purple Census, Roles, and Others | OTA
If you haven’t seen this yet, [ - the sample ballot is waved once in his hand. ] it’s a short census to consolidate who’s who in Purple. A personal assessment of your strengths, if you will. We’re one of the largest, if not the most populated group on the train, so there is a need to properly acknowledge the variety of talent from all walks of life. [ Roland grips his fist tight. ] If you have some time to spare, grab a pen. If you’re unable to write for any reason, then let me be your hand and I’ll jot it down for you. It’s not required, of course. You’re free to ignore this and surprise us later on. But understand that we function as a cohesive unit, and this helps prepare us for all the surprises our missions tend to spring without warning. I promise you, they get hairy real fast. So the more I know who can do what job, the better we’ll be when things go south.
[ He gets comfortable, leaning against the nearest surface. Arms back up to his chest. ]
Regarding the roles, they’re as simple as it can get. As lead, I primarily organize our merry band of fellows so that those most skilled in certain areas are placed precisely where they need to be. I’ll typically call pre-mission briefings just to get an idea of who’s coming and who will split to assist other teams as well. Liaisons help in this regard, and those who sign up for the role are generally very people-oriented, supporting veterans and new passengers alike in acclimatizing to the void missionary life in and outside of the train. Inventory Managers run our supplies and take stock of what we need. The only thing I will insist on as an order is to take healing items, food, and water with you every time you disembark. Please see them for that.
[ The steel in his tone disappears as fast as it was commanded. ] Combatants are exactly as they sound - and we’ve got plenty of melee and magical fighters in our ranks. Be sure you’re capable of defending yourself before signing up to defend others. Finally, our Non-combatants branch out. There are those who can perform Medic duties, those who are able to Gather from the world’s environment to take back to the train, those who distribute Supplies while we’re in the thick of the action, and those who watch the Communication lines for important information when our SCA’s go online. Someone always has to be there to man the Team Line and the Open Line across all groups.
[ He nods in finality. ] That’s it. The rest of the details, you can read for yourself. I’m looking forward to working with you all in the upcoming deployment. And if you’d like to chat about anything else, I’m here with open ears and all the time in the world. Thank you for listening.
[ After all is said and done, Roland will be found in his own, quiet corner of the venue, eyes roaming in either deep thought or shallow wonder, finger to his chin. ]

He's a bit wary, but despite his resonances he's a truth blade, not a justice blade, which means what he needs here is answers, and observing won't get him all the answers he needs. So Jade crosses the gym to approach Roland.
"Roland Crane, yes?" Jade asks, and waits precisely long enough for confirmation before continuing. "I was just wondering what role you have in these missions. Obviously a leader must lead, but I do find it difficult to trust leaders that let everyone else do the work for them."
Forgive the bitterness. It's not you, Roland, some grudges just get lodged in your chest and stay there.

Tidus & Inigo: OTA (Equipment and Teaching)
[ Tidus jerks his head back to a few suitcases by a wall, where some swords, daggers, rifles, shields, and other peculiar gadgets may be seen at a glance. ]
-so I can show you what we’ve got. You wanna borrow any for training before then, Tobes is a good guy to ask. Bald, Red Team, hangs out in the training gym all the time; he’s got access and usually has some out when he’s there, and there’s those wooden swords too.
[ At the mention of training Inigo speaks up, an easy smile on his face. ]
If anyone doesn’t have any combat experience or any idea where to begin when it comes to training with those weapons, there’s plenty of people willing to help you out. Usually you can find someone if you just go to the training gym and ask around, but I’m sure some of your teammates will be more than willing to help!
[ Inigo glances at everyone present, as if to find confirmation, but then puts a hand on his chest. ]
I, for one, am more than willing to teach anyone the basics of swordfighting. And if anyone else is willing to train others as well, just speak up now! Perhaps you could find someone who requires training to pair up with here.
Let us know about anything else you can do too. Magic, tech - whatever's good, [ Tidus says with a nod, smiling. ] Missions aren't all about fighting.
[ A beat, wryly: ] Just, most of the time. For us.
( ooc: For a tl;dr of items that might be of interest, there's manadrives that let your character do magic; the grav-con that lets your character defy gravity; healing potions of a variety, and idk I will bring up anything you want your character to know about. )

She's listed a fair number of things on her census sheet, but talking about her skills in person in this sort of setting seems a tad too... well, arrogant. And she'd already been called out in the past for her arrogance and overconfidence.
"Hey." She rocks on her heels, hands in her pockets. "So... what kind of missions are we expected to undertake? Sorry, I'm new."

With all of the organizational nonsense going on... ugh. This sounds too restrictive or him. There are too many people here. This is nonsense. He should leave. He should... ugh. If Frumpkin were here... but he's not. Not yet.
Once people are done talking he gravitates towards one of the walls, watching people with his bag over his arm. All the better to figure out what's going on... and also if there's anyone he needs to pay attention to in particular.

So it's inevitable that he eventually ends up approaching Caleb, just to make sure the guy is okay. It's good if he's just trying to take everything in, but hey, you never know. And Inigo is aware that it can be rough when you first show up on the train.
"Hey," he says as he approaches Caleb with a slight smile. "Taking everything in?"

Raven--Here as Liason and Medic. OTA
Hi. I'm Raven, one of purple's liasons. You'll also find me in medical a lot as I'm one of the healers on the train.
[She also has a small sign with her that reads "Please tell me if you have trouble with sleep."]

Bucky/Soldat | Food supply | OTA
So during the introduction, they're awkward and staring at the floor, but once the meeting breaks up for questions, they're a lot more relaxed in one-on-one conversations. "I'm usually in the kitchen car," they answer people, "doing daily meals and prepping stuff for the missions. I do training in the evenings, though. Particularly for people who don't have much fighting experience."
They are also be the source of at least some of those snacks: three types of cookies (of course), a cheese and bread platter, and some chopped veggies with a variety of tasty dips.

Murderbot('s Drones)
However, you may or may not notice a couple of itty bitty drones - we're talking about a centimeter across - tucked away more-or-less out of sight. You probably won't, though, unless you're very perceptive; Murderbot has painstakingly scoped out some vantage points where it can watch through them without them being bothered.
This Is Fine.]

Small as they are, they could just be part of the general decor, but Tony spent his first week going over the train with a fine tooth comb, and has the sketchbook crammed with drawings to show for it. Paranoid, much?

Jon Snow (new arrival)
Even with technically being a king back home, habit has him settle in the back of the group as he listens to everything being told. Wallflower, invisible, it's what he's been brought up doing. Even if really, between his build and his intelligent grey eyes, he rarely gets ignored. Without the furs and leathers, even in the hoodie he's been wearing it's easy to tell there's muscle underneath, though his sword has been left in his cabin. He wasn't sure walking around with an open weapon would be a great impression on his first few days learning the lay of the land.
Once the meeting breaks into social groups, you'll likely find him in two places. He'll either gravitate toward the food spread - specifically the cheese and bread to nibble a little. Or he's just kind of watching everyone against one of the walls as he tries to absorb everything he's been told while also watching the group. He knows you can learn a lot by watching the people around you, the way they motion while they talk or move. So he's likely watching you at least for a little while.
Re: Jon Snow (new arrival)

Mami, cooking lessons
"Hi there. I'm Mami, one of your resident medics. I sometimes jump into one of the smaller teams on the planets, but here on-board I'm always willing to help. And if you want to join our food prep team, I can always take students! Cooking really is fun when you get the hang of it, and I promise it's easier than it looks."
no subject
"Not bad." Is her verdict. Though what Mami makes of some kid taking it upon herself to deliver judgment on her tea is another matter entirely.
"Ever performed tea ceremony?"
(no subject)
Cassie Cage | Inventory Management | OTA
"So here's the way it is. I'm Cassie - I'm the head inventory manager for Team Purple. That means I'm in charge of tracking and distributing all the items in our common stock. If you think Purple is short of something we need, come to me about it. If you buy something from the train store that you want to add to our stock, come to me about it. If you want to check out an item from the armory that comes from our team stock, come to me about it. For every mission before we roll out, come to me for your go-kits. This'll be a package full of essential supplies that you'll need to keep going for a multi-day mission."
She gestures toward the other members of the team as she continues.
"If I'm not available or too busy, Trunks is an assistant manager. Anything you can run by me, you can run by him. We've also got Soldat and Mami on meal prep. But we could always use more help. If there's anyone who'd like to join the inventory team in any capacity, we'd be glad to have you."
She crosses her arms behind her back and nods.
"Alright, I'm done. Any questions?"
no subject
Not through any fault of her own, it's just that she reminds him of too many commanders of the Righteous Brand that he'd seen - stiff and commanding. Not like his father hadn't been similarly stiff, but that had been his father - and had been a long time ago. Nowadays, military types make him nervous, because they just indicate trouble.
Still, he hesitantly approaches her once her speech is done and once she's relaxed a little bit. "Ah... entschuldigen - er. Excuse me. I was wondering if you had a list of inventory supplies? I.. have some unusual components required for my spells, and I was wondering if the inventory here had any of them."

Hera Syndulla | Liaison | OTA
She's particularly interested in getting to know anyone who she didn't see in their particular form of action on the last mission. They might not know what the next one will bring, but she can at least get a sense of who her teammates are. Though she's also going to touch base with the ones she does know.
There may come a day that she will manage to not be a military officer. It's not this one.
Kitty Pryde | Purple Missions | OTA
So to start things off, let’s talk about the missions that we get assigned to. For the most part, Purple team seems to be assigned missions that focus on protecting and evacuating civilians. There are a few exceptions, of course, depending on the world we’re helping, but generally we do a lot of moving people, which kind of overlaps with Blue team sometimes. But while Blue works more closely with civilians, Purple missions tend to involve more overall protection and mass evacuation. And that does mean that there’s a lot of fighting involved too, which can get a bit intense sometimes, but don’t forget we’re all here to watch each other’s backs.
And honestly, if you feel your talents or abilities would be better suited for another team’s mission, by all means help them out. Purple is actually pretty large - I think almost twice as big as either Red or Blue? - so it wouldn’t hurt for some of us to join up with the other teams sometimes.
That should be it, I think? Are there any questions?
[ After all the speakers are finished, Kitty can be found chatting with people around the room. She'll generally approach many of the wallflowers to check in on them, but feel free to stop by and chat with her too. ]
no subject
While occasionally he'll sidle over to help himself to a snack or two, he spends most of his time standing off in whichever part of the room has the least people, careful not to touch anyone and just as careful to listen for any pertinent information anyone might have to say. Of course, "not touching anyone" ends up causing him to migrate around the room in order to dodge the crowd (and reach those snacks), so it's not like he's trying particularly hard to hide - he does make occasional scoffing faces at the disgustingly helpful and friendly speech-givers though (or maybe just at their speeches?) and starts edging towards the exit not long after mingling starts. Why did he come here? Curiosity, maybe? Either way he's telling himself he regrets it, and certainly not for discomfort reasons.

Training, Medic, Smithy
"I can offer training both with and against a variety of different melee weaponry, magic potentially as well though that would mostly be Red Magic. Less combat oriented but I also have some skills as a field medic so if you need an quick Cure or Raise I can normally traverse fairly quickly to those who need help."
She pauses, it wasn't something yet but she should let the rest know of her plans once she is able to get a hold of materials. "I currently lack the materials but I am a fully trained blacksmith, so once I can afford the materials I will be open for repairs and commissions."
no subject
"How did I not know you were a blacksmith? ... Though I guess with the ability to make whatever, I didn't really need to know." And while there were forges in Liminal, it was mostly just for the people who wanted to make stuff. "I picked up some basic metalworking at Home... if you need a hand let me know."

Sam | Borderlands | OC
Well probably not formal. There was snacks and it was some kind of weird...open, wood floor place with a bunch of equipment lying around. But it was certainly more formal than his introduction to vault hunting. Mostly because that had been 'welcome to Pandora, we're going to try and kill you now'.
Sam squints at the sheet for awhile, mulling over the questions. To be honest it made him suspicious, but since it doesn't really ask about weaknesses or vulnerabilities he fills it out...not that it's terribly informative as he gets distracted and bored so many times that most of his questions are half finished or borderline nonsensical.
Why was he doing this again...? Probably had something to do with the cupcakes. Still, he didn't know how he felt about being shoved into a random team by a kidnapping train. Yeah these people were just as kidnapped, but for some reason they decided to band together and take on leadership roles and are being helpful instead of all just tearing each other apart at the throat which is quite frankly, fucking weird.
He abandons his role sheet randomly on a table and starts wandering around, listening in on people's conversations and seeing if he can't overhear anything about maybe getting given weaponry of some kind. He's gone a month at this point with no shield, gun, or grenade, and he's starting to wig out a little bit.
"...why does everyone keep saying 'lion sons'. The fuck does that even mean..." Okay, he's in a bit of a mood. He usually is when he's in a confusing situation that he can't leave. Yes he could leave the meeting, but he's still stuck on the train.
