On the Train

Like clockwork, the Voidtreckers are awoken by a familiar message this morning.

"Good morning Voidtreckers, it is day sixteen of the month of Llama. Points have been updated on the system."

With points updated, everyone can spend the morning shopping. Most people will be expecting the second announcement that comes a few hours later.

"Shortly arriving into a designated void platform. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one." A lurch and a jolt and the windows fill with the fog that means they are at a platform. They will be glad, when the doors open to find it is plesantly warm. A breeze flutters through the platform and the sun shines in patches through the fog.

As usual the first to leave the train notice nothing, walking silently, rucksacks on their backs, towards the barriers. Alleyana Tabris, Asriel Dreemurr, Dr. Otto Octavius, Evangeline A.K. McDowell, Homura Akemi, Noctis Lucis Caelum, Phineas Mason, Riku Replica, Saash, Sam, Shadow, Sherlock Holmes, Steve Rogers, The Doctor; all pass through the platform, not looking back before they disappear through the barriers and into the fog beyond.

But on the platform itself there are new faces. Wearing hoodies in all four colours, in various states of confusion.

For New Passengers

At first all they can see is steam billowing around them as they come to their senses. As their eyes adjust, they find themselves on a platform. Behind them is a set of barriers, and in front of them is a single set of tracks extending both ways into thick fog. The air is warm and there are some flowers growing in pots near the barriers, bright blooms of colour within the fog.

They are standing, in clothes that are not their own and a style they might not even recognise. They are carrying a rucksack on their back. For a moment it seems to just be them, alone in the white haze; then the fog begins to fade and they realise they aren’t alone.

The platform isn't large, and seems smaller with eleven figures scattered around, all facing the tracks, all dressed in cargo trousers and hoodies. Then there is a roaring sound and out of the fog arrives a train. Jet black with gold writing on the side. The Voidtrecker Express. There is a hiss as the doors slide open and out pours a strange assortment of people, over a hundred at least. Some are human, some are less so. Most are wearing the same hoodie in one of the four colours, red, orange, blue and purple, though some are sporting different clothes in a variety of styles.

Behind them, the doors close, and the train is cloaked in the same fog that hides the world beyond the platform.

The Train

After a short time, the fog clears and the doors hiss open again. Those from the train may encourage those on the platform to board. It’s not like there's anywhere else to go and even if there was, you feel a pull. A need to board, a feeling that staying on the platform would lead to something terrible. If that is not enough, there are plenty of people on the platform now, to encourage them onto the train.

Each ICP shows the same message and next to the screens there are stacks of leaflets written by those on the train, with further information (see
'Publications'). The store rooms have been restocked with fresh ingredients, including several crates of nori, the ingredient of the month of Llama, as well as all sundries.

For passengers that have bought items, these are also scattered around the luggage carriage in various suitcases and bags.

New passengers will find their ticket allows them into their cabins. They may need to negotiate for beds with their new roommates.

Room is tight but there are storage cubbies at the head of each bed, beds fold up and the bottom bunks double as benches for the small table. There is storage under those benches full of spare blankets and pillows.

Departure

A second horn sounds to encourage any stragglers taking advantage of the fresh air, and the doors slide shut. Veteran passengers know what will happen next, but they may wish to brief their new companions.

The train sets off, the fog obscuring the view again as it picks up speed.

"Welcome aboard, passengers of the Voidtrecker Express." A female-coded artificial sounding voice echoes throughout the train. "Please take the time to read the passenger information displayed on the Information and Communication points and familiarise yourself with the layout and emergency exits."

The train begins to tilt, leaving the ground and rising up into the fog-filled sky.

"Entrance into Voidspace imminent. New passengers are advised to remain seated. Entry into Voidspace in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."

A shudder, a jolt, a lurch to the left. A flash of light, colourful and blinding. As quick as it happens it is done. The train seems to steady itself. The fog from the windows is gone now, replaced with a kaleidoscope of ever-changing colours.

Welcome to the Void!

He wakes up groggily, blinking the exhaustion out of his eyes in his room - where he's spent a lot of the past few days. It takes him a while to get moving, because it's a platform day - he's not going to be able to stay in bed anyway.

He makes the long walk down to the kitchen, contemplating making something himself before just grabbing something to shove in his face. It's not like it's going to be all that long before they arrive.

He does head into medical briefly before they get to the platform, just to have his measurements taken and to have someone take a general look at him to make sure his exhaustion hasn't become something worse. Thankfully it's still just exhaustion.


[Platform]

Ken has his orange hoodie on, despite not being part of orange team. He glances out into the crowd of people... no one. He's getting to the point where he'd even take SEES people, if only so he could yell at them.

He's very tired, so he won't stick out on the platform for long, but the small boy is around if anyone wants him.


[Later]

There's new people around - not an excessive amount, but... enough. Enough that Ken really doesn't want to deal with too much right now. For a bit he hides out in the music carriage, trying to keep himself busy by poking through songs and trying to find something interesting.

Later, it's incredibly easy to find him in the games car - his Duel Monsters deck is scattered on the ground in front of the beanbag he's collapsed into. He's curled up in his sleep, one hand on one of his bag's straps.

When he makes his way over to the kitchen in the morning, Madoka is already there. After all, it's still the blue team's turn for meal preparation, and she takes that very seriously - even if it means getting out of bed pretty quickly after waking up, just so she can make sure to have something ready for when most people start to arrive.

Ken is a little earlier than most people though, and so Madoka glances up as she watches him show up.

.. she stares for a moment, wondering if he's really not doing all that well, or if she's just imagining it.

"Oh.. Good morning, do you want some food..?"

Messing Around in the Standard Car

Yondu's been trying to find something to do. Just something so he doesn't have to think, so he's not obsessing over his losses, so he has some vague feeling of control. The last mission and all the reminders of his fuck-ups or being fucked up is sticking with him (as it's likely sticking with a lot of people). It's harder to feel any sense of control on platform day, when he hates to tell people that they're stuck here and unable to do anything about it.

Not to mention a few more people left this time that he actually knew. That he actually liked.

As soon as he can get back on the train and go through the adventure of digging his shit out of the luggage car, he goes to a standard car table to wait for anyone he knows to pass through. He's got a box of snacks by his side and a couple of items that, if he doesn't see their potential owners, he's going to have to go find them.

Aside from the gifts he's acquired a few 'training materials' to help out anyone that might have a similar interest. A box of locks and a box of cuffs with transparent components.

He already has a set of newly purchased Nova Corp cuffs in front of him, popping them open over and over, timing it each time by how fast he can unlock them. He finally clamps them on his own hands and turns his head to pull a dart from his coat, and uses that to start picking the lock with his mouth, the piece of metal sticking out from between his jagged teeth to pry at a hinge in just the right way.

Like hell is he going to slack off and make himself an easy catch, now. And he's going to make sure that he's not the only one. After a bit of time and heavy concentration one side of the cuffs come loose and they hang from the other arm.

Cherry had exited the train as was the train's normal habit, but once she was allowed back on she had returned to her room and curled up on her bed. She hugged her pillow as she lay with her back to the door. She wanted to sleep so that she would stop thinking about how to deal with Jack, but every time she closed her eyes she could only see the illusion of the death of her family from the last mission. The train made sure she slept, yes, but her nights had been restless and filled with nightmares.

She tried to ignore the knocking on her cabin, but she was alone, and the second or third attempt was enough to tell her that it was meant for her and she should at least see who it was. So she peeked over her shoulder and saw one Mr. Yondu. Her grim expression lifted a little. She got up and opened the door. She was smiling a little as she looked up at him.

"Hi Mr. Yondu. How can I help you?"

[ Platform ]

The platform isn't large? Well ya know what, it's gonna feel even smaller soon.

With the passengers stepping off the train, there's one woman carrying... a folding table. And some boxes, which look fairly heavy though she carries them with ease. She doesn't look that strong - not a lot of muscles to be honest. The most notable features are that she's wearing a white wrap shirt instead of a hoodie or polo, her nice tan, and her shifty eyes.

The table is put up, and the items in the boxes spread out. There are crystals, a couple shitty T-shirts (they have a Caster's Knick-Knack Shack logo), some metal ingots, and a couple very fancy bottles of wine. A small wooden sign sits in front of the items, proclaiming CASTER'S KNICK-KNACK SHACK is big bold letters. Smaller, underneath Items for sale, trade, or exchanged for favors.

The woman stands behind the table, calling out to.. whoever, honestly. "Deals! Deals you wouldn't believe! Come and buy!"

Hey, she has a captive audience while everybody waits for the train to open back up. Let's take advantage.


[ On the train ]

Caster's pop-up stand only lasts for as long as the platform stop does, and then she's packed up and her stuff stored away somewhere don't worry about it.

She spends some time roaming the train, looking among the newbies for any easy marks. Or the oldbies. She's not picky.

This is your cue to run into her if you don't want to get scammed into buying something stupid on the platform.

Platform

Yugi had come to the platform simply to see who was leaving and who was arriving. The Kuriboh in his arms as he did. He knew that honestly, he should maybe stop carrying it around, but he still kept feeling at the moment that sense of unease even though nothing has happened.

Plus it just turned into more of a comfort thing in general.

But as he was about to walk further on he found himself pausing briefly, eyes glancing over at the table. His head soon tilting a little bit as he read the wooden sign.

"So you have people trade in items for favors? What kind?"

Ghost | OTA purple but we're here for one thing only

Meow.

Once people are allowed back on the train, Ghost takes a deep breath and makes for the luggage car at the quickest pace he can manage (which is, in fact, a series of wispy black flashes around and/or through the other passengers who might be on their way there). Once there, it's not hard to spot him making his way to the frankly oversized cat carrier sitting among the various purchases.

"Hey there, pretty kitty."

Ghost carefully reaches out a hand for introductory sniffs. There's a distinct thump, as the cat in the carrier bonks her head against the metal grate of the door in search of pets, and from there it's just a matter of getting her out of it.

Following that, Ghost can be found in most of his usual haunts around the train - avoiding the kitchen car, because we don't need food full of cat hair - with his arms full of fluffy black cat. Very full of fluffy black cat. It's downright comedic, honestly, considering that Ghost is on the smaller side for a human dude and the creature in his arms, front paws braced on one of his shoulders so she can stand and look around, is probably the largest domestic cat anyone on the train has ever seen.

And especially if he knows you or knows you had a hard time last mission, Ghost is very much enthused about getting people to meet his cat, pet his cat, and maybe relax in the way that only petting a very fluffy animal can make someone relax.

Entrapta is merrily going around, trying to find all the new people, take an unsettling look at them to see what makes them particularly interesting, maybe spark up a strange conversation.

She passes by Ghost on the long journey from sleepers to stores, being followed by a rolly polly Sandra in her ball form.

"Oh! Aren't you abnormally large!" she says cutely to the animal Ghost is holding. Before adding in a, "I don't mean you. You're smaller than standard on my world." It's... not said to offend. Just a very awkward and friendly clarification stated with a big smile. And it's not like she isn't five-feet tall. The teenagers at least have an excuse. She's a full decade past gaining height.

She wiggles her hair a little at the cat and Sandra unrolls on the ground behind her, toodling off to pick up a piece of stray trash.

Ai Haibara | Open

[ Platform ]

Haibara is both easily noticeable and hard to notice when the other passengers are getting off the train. Easy to notice because she's a tiny seven-year-old girl wearing a lab coat. Hard because she is, well, tiny, barely waist-high even to teenagers.

She tries her best not to be noticed, her eyes darting around for any sign of familiarity but otherwise trying not to make much movement. But she knows little kids tend to draw attention when people think they've been kidnapped. We'll see how it goes this time.

[ Medical ]

Haibara makes her way back into the Medical Car when they are let back on. She enjoys taking shifts there on platform day. It's public enough that she doesn't really have to worry about being murdered, especially with all the new people exploring. It also gives her a chance to see the new people in a more controlled environment than the platform.

She can also answer questions about medical or take down basic patient information. You know, the thing one does when taking a shift. She's surprisingly knowledgeable - very surprisingly, usually, for new people. Since she is, as mentioned, a small child.

[Luggage]

Caleb wakes up and looks at the message scrolling across the screen. Much of it is what he saw before, but packages - ugh. It's still using his old name. At least no one knows who that is if they don't pay attention to the roster.

He shuffles towards the luggage car, picking through boxes and bags to try to find his packages.

"Ah... where is it? I should be able to find that one by the smell..." This is frustrating.


[Platform]

Caleb does not appreciate being dumped out onto the platform. It's too warm and he hasn't had a chance to change into his normal clothes. He looks around and... no. None of the Nein. He stands around in his purple shirt looking somewhat out of place before finally heading back in, but he's available for a bit if someone needs questions answered.


[Notes]

He finally gets a chance to change into his normal clothes and makes his way to the library, sitting at one o the tables downstairs with a notebook. He's writing in a messy hand in Zemnian - what many passengers would recognize as German. Every so often he pulls a small rock from a beat up leather bag and a few softly glowing orbs appear around his head. He lets them circle around a bit before they vanish again, and he chuckles.

Cantrips are easy enough to use, and he can't check some of his spells due to resources or... well. Sheer danger.

Zelgadis can recognize magic, but the spell is off enough from how his world uses it that it is a bit disorienting to see the effect, like someone's first exposure to another language.

Emotional Support Pet Get!
Even before she leaves parcel pick up, there is a small (two foot tall!) plant? creature? planture? in Eva's arms, and she doesn't seem at all keen on letting the thing go at all. Not that the mass of living vines(?!) seems to mind, given how sleepy tired it is.

Then again, it's old. Very old, given the faded colour of the vines, and greying fur around its snout and eyes, and Eva certainly treats the pokemon (it is one, as there's yet another 'ball on her belt (where the rest of her pokemon are currently tucked away)) like it's something to be careful with. Something that means a lot to her. The tangela for the most part, just blinks sleepily at the world, vines sometimes shaking or extending curiously towards those around. Or sometimes snores as it sleeps, as if it's used to being carted around like a living teddy-bear by its owner as Eva traverses the train, stopping to chat with near everyone who even looks remotely interested.

"Oh? Her?" A nod at the pokemon in her arms- and then Eva grins, honest and happy. "This is Skeeta. She's my pet."

Greenhouse- or old lady tangela just wants to sleep (or say hi?).
Much, much later, when Eva's talked enough ears off about the tangela, she and Princess follow Skeeta's Quest-For-The-Perfect-Soil-Patch-To-Sleep^TM.

That mostly, it involves a lot of stopping to nibble leaf litter, or nose at plants curiously, or snack on the berries Eva's planted while the trainer tries to harvest some (it's mostly a lost cause because somehow the vines grow and shrink and act as extra 'limbs?'). Or, you know, flop down right there because the bright lights here are Nice, thank you very much.

Or maybe Skeeta's wondered up to say hello to you with a small snuff and somewhat unnerving(?!) shake of vines before she noses at shoelaces. Or just feet if no shoes are worn.

Rapunzel had been on her way through the train to just go on a little walk, which on a train one can only go up and down. But she found herself curiously looking at the new addition as she waved.

"Whose your little friend,? They're cute."

A. First Impressions
Autiti squints through the fog, and lifts a hand to shade her eyes - the light here, thankfully, doesn't seem to be nearly as intense as daylight on Alternia would be, but even so it's brighter than is entirely comfortable for her and the white mist isn't actually helping matters. It takes her a moment to really take in her surroundings, and then her person. Ugh. Is she wearing orange? And -

"Oh, come the fuck on," she gasps, her hands frantically patting down her own face - ears, nose, brow, even briefly her tongue. All of the locations where there should be bits of metal threaded through her flesh. The piercings are still there, she can feel the holes when she runs her fingers over them just so, but all of her jewelry is gone. "You've got to be kidding me? What's even the point of that?"

B. Train Arrival
At least now there's more people around, and most of them look less totally and completely bewildered than the others who'd arrived on the platform with her. She hasn't spotted any other trolls, but so far none of them seem to be either cowering in abject terror of the horned girl or preparing to attack her, so probably she can attempt some diplomacy here.

She choses one of them more or less at random, squares her shoulders, and walks right up to them. "Hello! Explain what's going on. Now, please."

Nailed it. This is definitely what diplomacy looks like.

Boarding
C. Sleeper Upper 2, B
Auditi's found the sleeper cabin listed on her ticket, and if the way she scowls as she ducks inside is any indication, it doesn't live up to her expectations. She's not sure exactly what she was expecting, but this is smaller than her dorm back on the Levity and sleeps more people, and to her eye it completely lacks proper sleeping furniture. Not a single recuperacoon in sight. Is that an alien thing? It must be an alien thing.

She quickly schools her scowl into something more cheerful - and just a little forced - when she sees one of her roommates, though. "Oh! Hello! Do you know which... sleeping shelves... are spoken for? I just got here."

D. Departure, Standard Car
When the train begins to move, she's passing through the standard coach, and she's got enough sense to take a seat as the train starts to... climb? She hadn't seen any sign of an incline from the platform, but then, she hadn't seen much from the platform. Even with the countdown, she yelps a little in surprise as they make the jump to voidspace, and then...

"Mirth." The way she says it, it's clearly an oath. Auditi scoots over to the window-seat, blue eyes going wide at the swirl of colors outside.

E. Medical or Triage
Although Auditi takes time to give each of the train's cars at least a cursory once-over, she lingers longest in the medical and triage coaches. In either place, she can be found poking methodically through the supplies with a thoughtful frown on her face. She's being careful - not opening anything that's sealed, putting everything back where she found it - but she's also being very thorough.

F. Wildcard
But on the other hand, she does at least drop in at each car over the first couple of days she's on the train. Feel free to run into the troll wherever.

Eva blinks -that's rather direct, but maybe that's just how the alien language is outside translation? Pit if she knows-, absently pats down a few of Skeeta's vines so she can get a better look at this arrival, then shrugs a bit. "Hi yourself." There's a grin through, Eva clearly trying to find some humour in all of this.

"So... Short version: Welcome to the VoidTrecker Express. We've all been brought here against our wills to be heroes for worlds in need. Yes, we are working on what's going on and why this is happening, along with a few other projects. We're sorted into teams, and I'm one of the Orange Leads: Eva Iden'no."

I. Typical Platform Morning Prep - Kitchen Car

Soldat is perhaps a little more subdued this morning than most platform mornings. There's no singing or bopping around to their music (though there is music), and they're moving kind of slowly, but they're still in the kitchen car, making breakfast for the train and prepping sandwiches for lunch and putting cookies in for the newcomers on platform day. Anyone passing through gets some cocoa and a cinnamon roll slid down the counter their way. Only belatedly do they ask, with half a smile, "Want some?"


II. Let's Do It Again, Only Worse! - Platform

Last platform, Soldat had lost a friend. That wasn't fun. This platform, though... this platform, the most important person is walking away: the one who knows who they used to be. The one who saw the thing that tried to kill him and then never spoke to them again.

Soldat can only stare after him as sunlight catches in his hair and on his shield and... and maybe they're crying a little bit. It's silent, it's all but ignored, but there are definitely tears rolling down their face. They already know he can't be stopped, they tried with Prisoner, but they're... well, they're gonna be pretty useless for new people this time. They sit at the edge of the platform, in a little patch of sun, and stare at where Steve disappeared until it's time to go.


III. No Welcome Wagon Today - Garden Car

The cookies get left on plates in the dining car, dinner is left to someone else to make. Soldat collects their things from the luggage car, slow but efficient, then settles on a bench in the garden car with a faintly-glowing jar sitting on their knees and their lantern sitting at their hip. A little plastic ghost that glows and bobbles drifts to and fro next to that.

There's music coming from their headphones, but they're just toying with the netting on the jar, eyes down and ignoring passers-by.

Otoha sits down next to Soldat, not saying anything for a bit. He stares up at the sky and then finally holds out a water bottle and a towel.

He doesn't say anything - he doesn't have to. Soldat's upset, and that's what takes priority.

Cleopatra Selene II | Red Team | OTA

A. PLATFORM

Selene thinks she's dreaming. After all, she doesn't understand most of what she's seeing — the train, the ticket in her hand, even the clothes she's wearing. Perhaps she's being punished by the gods for her theft of the Shard from the Temple of the Vestals; why else is there a shackle around her wrist? (And she does actually spend a minute trying to get her SCA off her in panic, not that she's able to successfully figure out how.)

Then she's moving like the rest of them, into the train, almost mindlessly, like she's being carried along by a thick crowd in a state of mass hysteria. Though once she's onboard she just... stands there looking absolutely lost and confused. She realizes that the people around her are dressed in colors, and that she's in red like some of them, but she doesn't know what that means. Neither does she know what she's supposed to do with the ticket she's holding or the rucksack she's carrying.

B. ROOM

Selene is probably the last one to make it to her cabin, and she's frowning at the realization that she has roommates. She's never had roommates before. Not even in Rome, where she was technically a hostage. So instead of finding a bed and settling in it — and they're strangely shaped beds, too — she tries to leave.

Maybe the person who'd shown her to the room was wrong, and she'll still be able to catch them and ask them what's going on.

C. KITCHEN

Selene's in the kitchen, but she's not there to do chores. What are chores, anyway? Aren't there servants for that?

Instead she's checking the available food, perusing the ingredients that mostly look unfamiliar to her, and, with a not-so-surreptitious glance around her to make sure no one's looking, samples some of the items. To varying results. Some taste weird, others she actually likes.

Anytime someone walks in, the 14-year-old has a standard reaction: "I was just looking for the wine."

[Uh oh. Silvia recognizes that sort of reaction, the confusion the panic. Weaving her way through the crowd on the platform she takes a deep breath and tries to see if she can be of some aide this time]

Hey really. It's ok.. that is just a device meant to help us. It's a safety control apparatus, and we're supposed to wear those whenever we're not on the train.

Warns you when there's danger.

Asch | Blue OTA

Platform

Practically as soon as it's feasible to exit, Asch exits stage left, no, further left than that - as far down the end of the platform, out of the way of everyone else, as he's able. He's pretty distinctive against the crowd of train uniforms, since he's fully abandoned the train's uniform after the last mission. Instead he's wearing a coat that makes him slightly self-conscious, as the strap-crossed chest panel puts the glow of his core crystal - a glowing crystal in shades of shimmering, almost opal-like red - on full display for everyone to see. Coupled with the dramatic flow of crimson hair down his back, and even if he's far from tall compared to a lot of the people who are exiting the train, it's still a dramatic look.

It gets a bit more dramatic, and significantly more difficult to ignore him, when Asch conjures his weapon.

The greatsword materializes seemingly out of thin air, and it's immediately obvious why he doesn't do this - hasn't been working on any kind of practice - in the train. The blade is generally oversized compared to Asch, as tall as he is when he summons it point-down at the end of the platform, and although it's conjured out of shadowy energy, it's very much solid. Which is why Asch made his way as far down the platform as he can manage with it - away from the crowd.

People are probably going to watch him, anyway, and he doesn't like it, but he does his best to ignore it as he sets to working out some of the... Everything, that happened on the mission. So he sets about swinging, harder and faster than someone with a weapon of that size should be capable of moving it, the blade's weight reacting as though it's made of something much lighter than metal. The motions are wide slashes - very obviously unfriendly to the cramped environment of the train.

Aside from dealing with anyone who approaches him, he'll be doing this until nearly last call, dragging every minute of open space from the platform stop that he can.

Inside

Once they're all back aboard, Asch is honestly a bit at a loss for what to do. There's not that many new arrivals - less than half of what there were last time, when he showed up - and Asch is not exactly the best person for comforting the distressed among them. His bedside manner is better suited to a battlefield, and he knows it.

So instead he winds up digging out the free notebook and pens the train allotted and settles in in the library car, with its empty space and more comfortable seating, and starts writing on something. At the very least, he can get some kind of working document up so that he doesn't have to keep explaining the same questions over and over about blades and the blade system.

Of course, deciding what actually goes into that document - how much detail, in particular, about how much the previous incarnation of the blade system sucks - makes him have to stop frequently, and he's wearing a frustrated scowl the entire time. Given how much people tend to frequent the library, though, that probably won't save him from interaction; especially not with his core crystal still on full display, glowing red set in the upper part of his chest for everyone to see and know, immediately, that that's not a normal human sitting with his paperwork.

[Whatever it is you like - aside from the library, Asch in particular has to get food at some point and tends to hang out in the standard car otherwise. You might also spot him in one of the training cars, late, playing with what seems to be elemental magic on a small scale.]

Murphy remembered what Asch had said about blades, and it was something to be commended to no longer give a damn what people thought. He plops down in a library seat, holding one of the books from the fiction section. He's wearing his nice new suit sans the jacket and his brand new shoes, just enjoying his own capacity to dress up this corpse he has to lug around.

"So I suppose this last mission left you feeling that same 'the hell with it' vibe most of us got, right?"

[Masumi knows the drill by now. Head out to the platform to greet the new people, see who's leaving, and wait for the train to let people back in.

So she heads out, putting on a friendly face for the newcomers while enjoying the nice weather on the platform.]

It's always nice when the weather's good on the platform, huh? [It's sure better than when she arrived, given the weather back at that platform had been hail.]

[She's got mail, so it's off to the luggage car to collect. The books she ordered in are easily found and tucked under one arm to go read later, but her other order...]

Yes! [Masumi's delighted when she finds the box with her name on it, scooping it up and immediately heading off to go open it elsewhere. It seems she's been looking forward to this package!]

A. Platform

[ The announcement had surprised Lena a bit, but somehow she still found herself at the doors of the train after it stopped, and while she doesn't step out of the train she can still see the people standing around on the platform. A part of her is kind of hoping that she'll see someone she recognizes, but given that Della had been here for so long before she came around, she isn't trying not to expect too much.

She also stays close by the doors of the train, keeping a bit of distance. Most of the people she sees are definitely more human than anything, and she figures that seeing a "talking duck" might freak out some people more than they already were. Even so, she sticks around, just in case the sight of her might distract them from the situation instead.

So while she doesn't initiate any conversation, she at least remains approachable (she hopes) if anyone did want to talk. ]

B. Around the Train (Wildcard)

[ After having her fill of being social for a while, Lena retreats back into the train. There are still a lot of people, though, since there are newcomers boarding and looking around. And she could get that, having just boarded the train at the last stop.

She still doesn't start any conversation, but she does keep an eye out for people all around the train who look like they might be having some trouble. And she might linger for a little bit, in case they have any questions they might want to ask. ]

[ Kitty can't help a small sigh as she watches the passengers who depart the train. She had only known a few of them, but it still hurts to see them leave, and she can only hope that things will be okay for them wherever they end up.

Taking a moment to compose herself, she then turns to the people that are still on the platform. There are a few people she recognizes that, like her, had come to see those that were leaving, but most of the people are definitely new. Whatever the case, she approaches someone who might be a little sad or confused. ]

B. Luggage Car

[ Deciding to take a bit more time for herself, Kitty heads to the luggage car to pick up her package. Even if it's not the best place for some quiet time, there definitely aren't as many people at this end of the train this early in the day.

Looking around the car, she glances up and looks over at whoever is nearby. ]

Hey, could you let me know if you see a package with my name on it?

C. Around the Train (Wildcard)

[ After they start moving through the Void once again, Kitty decides to walk around the train to see if there might be anyone who needs a bit of help. There is a lot to take in, after all, and she knows it can be a bit much at first.

So as she walks through the various train cars, she keeps an eye out for anyone who might need a hand, or just a friendly face. ]

Casper finds his package easily, chucking it through to his hammerspace. He doesn't stick around for long as he makes the trek back to the kitchen, stopping in the library to scan for some new books. ... Not yet, but maybe soon.

When he manages to get there he starts making smoothies. A lot of smoothies.

Maybe too many smoothies, but he knows that platform days can be chaotic and it's easier for some people to grab a smoothie than shove four pieces of bacon into their mouths.

He's got his purple hoodie on today just to minimize confusion, wandering among the newbies. He grins at all of them and he's likely to slide up someone who looks lost. "Hey, you doing okay?"

He wants to stay available to new people, but Casper also has a textbook he's working through. The cover makes it obvious it's a grief therapy textbook, and he keeps having to push away a very insistent-seeming raven.

The garden might not be full of plants, but there's still benches and it's still warm.

Make that minus one bench, as one of them has been taken over by a large Siberian Husky with slightly greying fur and a scar on one of his back legs. He'll perk up if anyone approaches, but otherwise he's in a lazy semi-doze.

... The nearby raven might be a big clue as to who it actually is, though.

Della arrived at Casper's sleeper cabin, lightly knocking to check if he was there.

Gone was the inexorable pull toward the shining Tower. No longer was he clad in shining armor or familiar robes, though the body he wore was at least the one he had last been making use of. The fact that the body's clothes and accessories are dramatically different doesn't appear to be worth troubling himself over right now. Steam may billow and obscure the senses briefly yet Elidibus was at least able to determine this much. But where was he?

He knew with absolute certainty this place was nowhere amongst his world's scattered fragments.

A sudden catch to his breath escapes him. With a look somewhat akin to panic he lifts both of his hands, palm upward... and empty. Not there, not in a small pile of varied colored stones at his feet. Eyes close and both hands clench into fists as the Ascian stills and seeks to hold back the emotional impact of losing something so vitally important mere moments after...

Wait, no. One remained. It took a moment to set down the rucksack and reach in but it was done swiftly. And with a wave of relief he couldn't quite hide, Elidibus drew out the stone which had been of his own creation, chronicles, and experience imparted within it. It... was a surprising comfort to know it was not lost with the others.

The rest, he had the recent experience of them. Elidibus could make them again he was certain. There was still... time. But first, he would need to collect his bearings. Which begins with an appropriate assessment of what he has, from rucksack to personal attire. The SCA is probably given the longest scrutiny when it comes to inanimate objects, though the ticket is also offered due attention.

He is aware of others in a similar state of arrival to him and they are kept an eye on. He is not unapproachable but there's no immediate intent to move to join others. At least not right away. Then again after that initial flurry of panic, he does appear to be a rock of calm in an uncertain situation.

II

A train is revealed, briefly. And people stream out of it. The differences in species matter little to Elidibus who has by now collected himself and seems content to observe at first. This is no stand-offish, hesitant presence, however. Those who chance to observe him- a brown-haired young man wearing a red hoodie, the typical cargo pants and holding tightly to a rucksack strap- may get the impression that he is seeking to learn the ebb and flow of traffic and interaction before finding a way in which to add himself to the mix.

Or who he might approach to gain the best insight from.

He is open to be approached if someone wants to interpret his sidelines approach as an opportunity to get a head start on an inevitable question and answer session. But Elidibus is just as likely to approach someone whether he has other conversations or not. Someone who is from the train, looks halfway interested in aiding the new passengers and indicates that they are there to help rather than stretch their legs or take advantage of the confusion.

"I would ask for a moment of your time," he begins. Very polite words, without any indication that gender, age, or species of the person he approaches is affecting his impression of their competency. "I have gathered we are expected to board this conveyance. But what will occur should I choose to remain?"

Elidibus has been listening but no one in earshot seems to have touched on that subject yet. Or more likely it has. And the Ascian either wants confirmation or is simply seeking to open a dialogue with a question that will probably be on a great many minds.

[Departure]

Questions about remaining may have been asked but Elidibus is easily on the train before the compulsion has time to settle in. With some time remaining and several people still milling around outside, the Ascian finds some relevant reading material and settles into a seat in Coach B to study and wait.

He'll be found there for a time both leading up to and a little after the Voidspace. The concept of needing the vehicle to traverse space with the term 'Void' in it seems to hold little surprise for the man. To have constructed this train is an impressive feat by itself and he certainly can acknowledge the need for it given how many corporeal beings are being transferred between worlds. A vehicle of this nature had not been necessary for the needs of he and his fellow Unsundered.

Though Elidibus does feel they would have been able to create something without the lurch and jolt.

He was not expecting the kaleidoscope of colors outside the train's windows, however. He was wise enough not to look overlong at this unfamiliar 'Voidspace' and ignores the sensation of foreign discomfort over something slightly outside his realm of knowledge.

Instead, Elidibus speaks up to someone who has decided to settle nearby. New passenger or veteran, it matters now. "How are you faring?"


[Cabin]

Elidibus has obtained enough information to be certain this cabin arrangement is no mistake. Between any helpful individuals, questions he placed before someone to have answered or just reading every pertinent memo and pamphlet available- the rest will be likewise studied in due time, the Ascian is nothing if not thorough- the cramped 'personal quarters' are within his expectations. So whether or not someone is already present he steps in, stows the rucksack in an empty cubby, and has a seat. There is no indication he has a preference. Whatever was first available is what he went for with due courtesy given for maneuvering in such tight quarters.

If he has to wait because he is the first he does so patiently. But when someone does appear- or is indeed already present- the man will address them calmly.

"Shall we speak while awaiting the others?"

( Atem is short, but not as short as the one who is already ON the train with such similar infamous hair. Far more tanned, and the differences in features are very slight nevertheless there. His eyes are less soft, more intense. A violet closer to red than blue in color. Eyeliner game on point. Slightly tinted lips. You know, fashion. In a damn red tracksuit. What a shame. A radiance, though not actually seen but more felt. For those very sensitive, though. Something darker lurks deeper than those rays of sun.

Coming to consciousness in a strange and unknown place should be nostalgic for him and it would be were it not for the fog. Stranger yet was that he sensed no such magic here, and so what was this? Eyes closed for but a moment, breathing through the strange sensations and of that there was plenty. What would he notice first? The various people around him within the settling fog, the lack of weight on his body, the new clothing, or that dreadfully familiar pulse of darkness coming from -- behind him!

Eyes shot open, a hand reaching behind to the rucksack. Wait he's known this contraction before. Straps, right. Okay. Sliding it off, fingers pull it open to see. Well, many things but also ) Oh no. ( Oh no. The pendant! He quickly scanned his eyes around but everyone looked innocent, felt well mostly innocent (he was still not quite fully conscious), no one he recognized. How, how did this get here? Quickly, Atem closes it up and slides the sack back on.

How did HE get here? Everyone else looked just as confused. With the coming of that train, perhaps some answers would unfold. )

[Yugi had never really gone out to the platform all that much. The last time he did things happened later, so he was admittedly a little nervous. But it meant going was probably a better idea as that way he could be sure everything would be okay.

With his Kuriboh plushie currently deciding in his backpack for comfort purposes, he headed out into the foggy platform, eyes wandering around. So far no one he could say outright he knew.

That was at least until he spotted the sight of some very familiar hair. He knew it could be two possibilities. Either it was another him from another world with another timeline, or it could be him.

So he decided to start making his way over and soon enough he paused.]

The new clothing was the first thing he took notice of. He was not unfamiliar with the style, owing to fellow passengers on his last outing through dimensions, but it was certainly none he had ever donned before. Then the knapsack became apparent, and while strangers around him milled about, some wearing purple like himself, others different colors, he gleaned at least that this seemed to be some type of uniform. He sighed but made no complaint, to himself or otherwise. Quickly he searched through the knapsack to ascertain that yes, this was his -- a ticket with his name and Marty Hart's book were his indicators there.

A sigh of somewhat relief, and he repacked the items before slinging the object onto his back -- albeit with only mild certainty he was doing that correctly.

When the train arrives, his familiarity with the type of vehicle it is does not really reduce the number of questions he has. But he can no more make sense of an old earth sailing ship moving through space and the void, much less something on tracks -- that suggests something built them, but he already knows that's putting too much thought into it.

To most looking on him, he is short, coming perhaps to five feet when standing on the ground, and quite alien, from the shining violet carapace to the muscular white tail moving behind him and telegraphing is mood. Blessedly whatever put them in uniform did not force the standard boot on his feet, as it is clear that while that might have worked, his are ill suited.

He feels the pull, though he takes that feeling of a need to get things over with and climb aboard as a general desire not to be late. Is it possible for him to look apprehensive?

[Departure]

The first thing he does on boarding (it is notable that he doesn't walk so much as float ever-so slightly over the ground) is find a place to sit through the -- was it called a launch, when it was a train? Once it is deemed clear people can move about again, he moves to avail himself of information on the place before looking for the sleeper cabins. He will explore once he knows where he has been assigned, he decides.

The information terminals feel -- ancient. Not just because handheld devices were so common back on the Barge, but even back home, it had become the norm in his army.

[Onboard] - Sleeper Cabin Upper 1-E

The main concern with finding his cabin is regarding putting his belongings in a safe place. Now that he has belongings, and the need to keep them from other people had been one of the major reasons for not having them in the first place (not that he was one for clutter even on a good day).

Once he was on board he immediately felt the difference in the size of their conveyance. No, this was no ship. But if the initial shock had been something to him, seeing his cabin for the first time was more of one, and for a full couple seconds, he could only stare. His expression is surprisingly neutral for the number of feelings he is having, though the stiff movement of his tail probably communicates enough that this is smaller than expected.

The prospect of sleeping that close to the ground, or the ceiling being that near to the ground, even? Part of him objects, still. Even when he would deign to stay over with Hart, it was, he always told himself, tolerable for being as temporary as it was.

But this was also temporary, if a good deal longer.

Freeza, he thinks to himself, your men sleep in smaller, more enclosed bunks than this, and far more than four to a single chamber. Manage.

"Excuse me," he says to the nearest other occupant. "I see the tickets do not assign individual beds. Which ones are open?"

After settling, Freeza will wander the other cars that he can access, assessing the facilities and making mental note of what important things are where, in relation to what. He still floats when he moves, and if he has reason to pause to give a room a longer look, he moves himself out of the way of the main path people would use to pass through.

She's going to be so embarrassed once her brain catches up.

Pre-train Arrival

Of all the places Xehanort is supposed to be, this is in fact not one of them: a platform in the fog, wearing clothes he doesn't expect to be wearing and with a pack full of things that aside from a notebook (and he checks, as soon as he realizes he HAS a rucksack), full of things that don't belong to him.

Well, belonged to him now, he's keeping it all because of the sheer inconvenience of finding himself somewhere unexpectedly. It's ... not the first time, and in the mist and fog the young researcher remains still and silent, running a mental inventory of where he should be, what he was doing before he found himself here, and if there were any unexpected gaps besides turning up here. Nothing ... felt missing. It might not be the same situation as when he first appeared in Radiant Garden. That left a lot of options.

There's other shapes in the mist, dressed as he was, and as the train whistle can be heard in the distance, he speaks up.

"How close were all of you to the castle before you found yourselves here?"

For pretty much everyone, there was no castle - but surely they must be from Radiant Garden, therefor this might have to do with one of his experiments he's been running, which meant all of this is quite technically his doing except why did it come with a complete outfit change and why does he have a ticket?

Well, no matter. If he got them here he can certainly get them all back! They're likely just ... a little further away than expected!


Platform

And then he's forced to recalculate everything, when the fog begins to clear and the train actually arrives. There were coincidences, and then there were obvious signs of planning that weren't his. A ticket, travel gear, and now what is certainly a train, pulling up to a dock clearly meant for trains?

Accidental teleportation to somewhere else in the world certainly wouldn't produce such specific results, and this sudden dubiousness as to whether or not he'd caused this somehow grows when the train stops and disgorges dozens upon dozens of people, some obviously humanlike, others.. a little harder to pick out the species of, dressed pretty much the same as the eleven who'd found themselves on the platform.

Well. This changes things. He shoulders his pack and looks around alertly - nothing was especially familiar in that first wave of people exiting the train, and he doesn't expect anyone who follows the first dozen or so to be familiar, so it's set aside for now in favor of spending a bit more time now that he could SEE BETTER, fiddling with the not-a-watch on his wrist. The flashlight turns on, it turns off. A timer is set ... and immediately left alone to see if it'll go off as expected.

The musical note does nothing, he has no songs saved.

That settled, it's time to investigate the platform better. Others had left, disappearing into the fog but Xehanort ... can't. At the edge of the platform, he sets down his pack and reaches to pick up a flowerpot instead, eyeing where he thinks the barrier might be, possibly right at the edge of that lingering fog that obscures the rest of the world. While it might look like he intends to throw the thing at the barrier, his intentions are somewhat less pot-shattering, pushing the thing over will do just as well. HE'S not going to touch it until he knows it's not going to electrocute him or something, so sacrifices of the flower kind must be made!

Kairi figured that first things first she was going to go out there and say hi to any new arrival that would be okay with her saying hello and considering they will want to know what on earth was going on... she figured a few might at least.

So with a spring in her step, she stepped out onto the platform with a smile on her face. As she looked around she was checking out just who was about. But soon her eyes set on a familiar figure.

Tilting her head it took her a moment or so to figure out just who it was. Once it slowly dawning upon her she wasn't sure what to do. Sure, she had met people who were on the other side but here just were not at all bad, but this one was something else... she wasn't quite sure what to make of it considering.

So she did what she figured she had to do, scope out and talk see what happens. If he tried anything she was pretty confident in her fighting abilities. At least to an extent to defend herself decently. So she walked over.

V himself had been pretty aloof himself - to the point that when Devero asked about it he politely pushed Devero away. It was bittersweet the way it worked, really. V didn't wish to be perceived, but he also was always the one who craved any kind of connection with another person, be it good or bad. This was to say that it was a lonely month after Kerry arrived. That didn't mean he wasn't aware of what was going on around him, however. He'd noticed changes in people's behavior and shifts in their day-to-day, in their demeanors. You couldn't afford to just stop being aware because you felt bad when you were from Night City.

He'd noticed that Devero'd been acting weird more recently, but he'd opted to give the man some space after that last mission. Just a little bit of time to breathe and get his feet on the ground. It had been brutal, the illusions, and V felt like he would be far too much of a dick if he didn't at least check in on the man. It was one thing to isolate himself and wallow in his cups about his own issues, but to not reach out and check in on someone who was willing to care for him was dickish even for a Night City native. At some point, Devero receives a text message - a proper one, not an awkward little text file. Nice and shiny with proper encryption and everything, V's new public key attached since Lara's encryption keys differed from his own. (He also may not trust her to be able to actually complete the handshake herself since Dev's systems were not another Agent.)

Instead he's being brought here again, being forced to play nice with people and "help" people who he's pretty sure mostly don't deserve kindness.]

[Luckily he's fairly familiar with figuring out this entire nonsense and is casually making his way towards the sleeper cabin. Under World quietly follows behind him, looking around the area and seeming to have its own bits of curiosity independent of its user. But whatever or not that means anything is up to someone else to decide. Don himself doesn't seem too bothered about Under World or the situation entirely and is just huffing and claiming what seems to be an unclaimed bed for the time being. And casually sitting down while seeming to just be asking for someone to say something or question him. Lovely.]

[Of course he needs to get a lay of the land once more, things seem to have changed quite a bit since he was last around. He's almost curious to see if anyone he'd spoken to previously is still about, one person in particular, but he's not about to speak that aloud into the universe. Occasionally Stands are able to act, think and want independent of their user, but it is rare. For the skills of many Stands, the 'reality' of a virtual simulation is enough to allow their use, if one had a way of transposing it into the setting; one of my servants excels at doing just that.

1. Platform

Platform day. Platform day never changes.

As steam drifted about, a little gust revealed the Overlord's booth and the small crowd of minions around it. They had pamphlets, of course, and passed them out to anyone who showed the slightest bit of interest -- new or old, it didn't matter, and quite possibly they didn't remember anyway. A Prinny balanced on a beach ball, which would be more impressive if the ball weren't three-quarters deflated. And behind the booth, a book surveyed it all with an impatient glare.

Sometimes, you just went through the motions, because the motions were the only thing that kept you going.

Okay. No one was there that mattered. No one was there that changed their plans at all. With that established, Zetta had his minion set him down in midair in the room he shared with Persephone, then go back to the garden to wait for the others. As the door clicked behind him, the book looked over to his girlfriend.

"Okay. I'm ready if you are."

2. Don't You Want Some Body To Love

The door to the garden carriage slammed open violently, having been given quite the kick. What a jerk move, right? But can you really blame the person who stepped through, when he hadn't had a body in years?

A tall lean demon, with hair that looked like so much fire and a billowing cape that hinted at an eternity within. An unmistakable smirk and an even more iconic laugh.

"Hyaaaaha ha ha ha ha! I'm back, baby! This train better get a carbon dioxide car, because nothing it's got now can quench this fire!"

Did she dress up a little for today? Sure, it's platform day, which means her sundress made a reappearance. Okay and sure she's wearing a little lipstick and she took a little extra care with her hair after he left this morning. Because appearances and the importance of them and putting in that little bit of effort for a being you care about.

"Ready!"

Persephone tries not to look nervous or expectant when she reaches out for him. Then she pauses.

"Sugar snaps, I need a pen, don't I? Unless there's a magic pen." She dips down to find one in her bag, pulling up one that writes in orange, of course, and flourishes it triumphantly, "It feels weird to write such an important thing in orange."

PLATFORM.

[ Jiang Cheng does his checks as soon as the train stops, something that is going to develop into a habit; he sees if his sister has shown up, if Wen Qing had arrived, if anyone else he knows has found their way to this strange place. Not recognising anyone in particular he instead gathers the items he had bought and makes his way to a quiet corner to investigate.

The obvious joy on his face when Sandu is back in his hands must be clear to anyone who looks at him, and as soon as he's sat down, legs tucked under him, he begins to investigate. The sword isn't harmed or damaged, but he uses the cloths he had prepared to start giving it a gentle clean all the same, taking care of it. Eventually he opens the other package that he'd bought, the haircare items, and ties his hair back with a blue ribbon.

All he needs now to return to being Sandu Shengshou is clothes, and at least he has a good idea of where to go for those. ]

ON THE TRAIN.

[ Jiang Cheng can often be found in his usual haunts over the next handful of hours and days; if he isn't hiding away in the quiet carriage, reading or polishing his blade, then he's wandering up and down. He spends a little more time in the gym now that he has a proper sword to practice with, working through the training motions his father taught him, the ones he taught his disciples.

When he ends up back in his room he takes care to store his items carefully, but he doesn't spend a lot of time there - unless he is avoiding someone, which he does at times, darting into the room whenever he sees a flash of someone he doesn't want to have to speak to in the moment. ]

[ It's pretty rare to see joy on the man's face. Not that Madoka thinks he looks scary - not anymore, anyway - but she does think that he very often tends to look pretty serious or stern.

Not right now though. At first Madoka isn't so sure why Jiang Cheng would look so obviously happy, but as she slowly approaches him, she realises what it must be when she spots the way he's bent over that sword.

It looks just like a sword to her, but.. it must have some special meaning to him, huh..? ]

Sir. [ She says, both respectfully and carefully, as if she doesn't want to startle him. ] You seem very happy today.

PLATFORM / ARRIVAL.

[ Waking up somewhere new isn't unfamiliar to her now; she had woken up in Thedas and adjusted to that world with a swiftness that would have surprised her, if she hadn't had a sister at her side to guide her. Waking up here, however, is something a little different - she doesn't recognise the landscape, the people, the shape of anything. Nothing seems familiar.

Nothing, at least, other than the dog currently rubbing his nose into her legs. At least she's not entirely alone.

Six begins to make her way across the platform, peering over everyone's heads and trying to investigate what is happening. Clearly she has been brought here for a reason, but she's feeling a little on edge - when she reaches up to touch her amulet of Sarenrae there's nothing there, and that's enough to make her desperately uncomfortable. She's never been somewhere without Sarenrae's touch before, and although she can still feel her powers...

She has to close her eyes and breathe in and out a handful of times to keep herself composed. ]

ON THE TRAIN.

[ Six eventually finds her way onto the train and leaves her package of items in her room, but she doesn't leave Two behind; her Mabari is at her heels at every moment, on guard and watching to make sure that no one gets too close. Six, at least, has the presence of mind to make sure that her hound doesn't get too close to anyone. She has no desire to scare people with how large and frightening her dog can seem, especially not tied with her own rather large and intimidating body.

Six feet and five inches is tall for a half-elf; Six feels it, constantly, a weight that she tries to ignore.

She spends a lot of her time just walking around, offering awkward nods to anyone she meets and trying not to feel too overwhelmed, but she does also spend a little time stopping, touching her hand, pressing a finger into her palm before she continues, her dog huffing little noises at her side. Maybe she isn't quite as comfortable as she might like to pretend. ]

[Sizhui is making his way around the train, keeping himself busy. He'd just finished a bout of training and is on his way back to his own quarters. His sword is still out and rests in its scabbard in his left hand as he walks along the hallways. When he sees the hound and its owner, he beams and makes his way over. He notes the tick... the touch to her hand and the dog huffing whenever she does. He slows to a stop and bows to both of them.]
