fall out boy intensifies
Who: Thief King Bakura & you
Where: Your bedroom. Yes, yours.
When: Llama 20
What: Bakura has decided she's waited long enough to get the heat off of her. She wastes no time doing the things she do.
Warnings: She has broken into your cabin. So don't tag in unless you're okay with that.
[ Bakura has been lurking.
She has been lurking so well she basically missed the whole platform. The whole mission, too - whatever. But her secret explorations have her thinking stealing the Voidtrecker Express isn't going to be something she can actively plan for. (Something she can someday absolutely do, sure! When she sees an opening!)
What's more, it's now been enough time that she bets nobody is gonna care what she's up to anyway. She doesn't see a guard....
It would be smart to keep lying low.
But it would also be dull.
In short, when next you open your still-completely-locked cabin door, there is a woman standing there. Holding your stuff.
She turns, and, without looking too upset, raises a hand. ]
Yo!

Next move. Diabound, over to the floor, closer to the door. Flash just a hint of wing, peering from the wall. Get the opponent wondering what the hell is up.
This is fun!

Bakura's voice, disembodied, floats around the room.
"Figure it out yet? I'll give you a hint. Ka possess powers their wielders most desire.
My name is Bakura, King of Thieves.......
What ability do I want the most?"
no subject
“Logically, to move unseen,” she replied. “Though in this case ‘petty thievery’ seems also valid.”
no subject
She's been living solo for fifteen years and she has to make her own fun okay.
"But you're off by circumstance! If I weren't limited by this shitty metal tomb, you'd find my thievery anything but petty.....There's no trap built that I can't escape!"
Ignore how these two things seem to contradict each other, please. Bakura has merely not yet escaped the Voidtrecker Express. Just because it has yet to happen does not mean it is impossible.

“Your presence here would indicate otherwise,” she replied, evenly.
It’s almost as much trash talk as she dishes out.”

"I'm taking my time," Bakura insists. And steps out of the wall, hands up in a universal "nothing up my sleeve" gesture. It's tempting to just make a full getaway, but as this woman has put up such a fantastic show, she figures she owes one final showing to her opponent.
She smirks. "Riddle's answer is 'wall phasing', by the way."
Something invisible, still contained in the wall, slithers.

“And how long has that been now?”
Said with just a touch of actual curiosity.
“I would imagine a criminal would feel quite caged. I would have, as I once was.”

In fact - now what Bakura wants to take from this woman, more than anything, is her story. How'd she end up this skilled? How instantly will Bakura be fucked if that weapon she's holding goes off, and therefore how badass will it be if she avoids (temporary) death at its hands? These are the purely hypothetical questions that a thief starved for enrichment must ponder!
"Swap you," she proposes. "My history for yours. As a favor, I'll make it an even trade."
no subject
And she's suspicious of this - but...information is information. And her life, and her nature, is hardly a secret.
"Very well," she replies, after a moment's contemplation. "That is acceptable."
no subject
"You first."

"And trust the supposed Monarch of Criminals?" she replied. "I believe the phrase is: 'I was not born yesterday.'"
no subject
Monarch of Criminals. She's gonna have to remember that one. And see what happens if she goes first, as a favor.
"Then I'll take the first move as a show of goodwill!!" Where to begin? Hm. Bakura leans back on her heels, thinking.
Ah, she's got it. "I don't suppose you've heard of Pharaohs."

She smirks. "You don't have to answer. It's obvious."
There is a point to this lecture on the hypocrisy of monarchies. She swears.

"I am the last," brags Bakura, "of a village of thieves. By attempting to abscond with your valuables, I uphold a tradition these play-judges would stamp out because it doesn't fit their ideals! And as King of Thieves, I claim the right to define 'justice' of my own......."
She'd looked cocky, but now there actually is an ember of something darker in her eyes. Something real. Something raw, and hurting.
"A justice that won't be sated. For what happened to Kul Elna."

“Thus you define your thievery as an act - or tradition - of rebellion against corrupt authority. But by targeting other passengers, you are thereby aiming not at that authority, but rather targets of convenience. Which would be, by any definition, more piratical than upholding a lineage, surely?”
Meet the most noble-minded droid you’ll ever meet, Bakura. In part because, once, she wasn’t.
no subject
Nobility is rather in short supply on this side of the conversation.
no subject
"Ah. Please continue."
