If he could save Wen Qing, if he could save Jiang Yanli, even if it's on a world that isn't his... even if he'd never know their lives, it would be worth it. Or, given time here, given a second life that they can mourn over their first during but be alive enough to mourn? Worth it. Worth it for everyone not Meng Yao or Xue Yang. Even his misguided martial uncle deserved to live... and he supposes at one point, Meng Yao might not have been entirely without better purpose, less murderous offense.
