[ On the evening of Nebula 18, Seto pops onto the ICP screens. The only thing different about his appearance is that his hair is slicked back (someone's experimenting), and he clears his throat. ]

...Good evening. We hinted at it during our game the other day, and we've told a few of our closest friends, but it's official. Yugi and I are getting married tomorrow night. We realize it's last minute, but a few recent circumstances forced our hands and we didn't find it prudent to wait anymore.

As it's last minute, we don't expect a lot of company, but anyone's welcome to witness it. Don't worry, it's going to be a very quick ceremony by wedding standards. We'll also have light snacks afterward.

[ After...not that much planning, to be honest, the day is here. The gym is clean, with about 30 chairs lined up in front of a clear space. A small smattering of blue and purple balloons decorates the hall, and overall it's just set up to be a quiet commitment ceremony.

Let's see if it stays that way. ]

[ Time for the serious preparation. Seto's well-practiced at putting a suit on and straightening it, but anyone selecting their own clothes in the dressing car will see how many times a sleeve can be pressed and re-pressed.

Should he slick his hair back? He pushes it up, frowns, and drops it. No. ]

Hm.

[Ken's decided to get dressed up, but he can't help but notice Seto fiddling with his shirt and his hair. He wanders over to Seto and puts a hand on his elbow.]

Stop. You look fine.

[ Ken's here. Thank goodness. Seto glances at him, unsure, and then slowly lowers his hands. ]

We rushed most of the planning. We both wanted to...but no matter what, I won't disappoint him today.

... I don't know anything about romance or weddings or anything like that but... you love him, right? So I don't think you could disappoint him.

Screw what everyone else thinks. Today's about you and him. You could show up in your pajamas and it'd still be fine.

[ On a whim, Seto plunges his hand into his suit and pulls out the locket: yes, he's still wearing it. The ring is no longer on the chain, now safely guarded by their adorable ringbearers, but the familiar card is there.

He opens it, revealing two pictures: a boy with messy black hair, about four or five years old. And next to it, Seto and Yugi, wearing tie-dyed neon onesies, arms around each other like they just came off the dance floor. ]

This was a few days after we arrived here. Most of the people we met then are gone by now...and I was still getting used to the idea of us not being enemies anymore. He's a lightweight, and when I sampled the spirits, this happened.

Our first dance.

[He looks at the picture - well, pictures, but he'll ask more about Mokuba at another time - and smiles a little bit.]

Yeah, like those. ... You look really happy. And... and I hope that you stay that happy as long as possible.

[He squeezes Seto's arm gently and looks towards the car exit.]

Would it help if I walked some of the way with you?

I've been asking myself if these moments of happiness are worth the pain that will follow.

It's not easy. But it's worth it.

[ He glances at the exit and nods. ]

...it's nearly on the other end of the train. I didn't think this through very well, did I.

We can take the portal things.

[Like he knows or cares about the proper name.]

You were kind of in a rush. It's okay. I'm sure you'll live.

I always forget about them. Normally I'd be all about the exercise, but we might be running late.

[ He starts moving toward the portal. ]

It's strange. I thought I'd be warier about committing. But I guess he's not the only one I've committed to. Months of practice on that front.

[ He glances at Ken and smiles. ]

Mhm.

I...

[He blushes a little bit and nods.]

There's a lot more people here that are.... good people. A lot more than I'm used to. And people take me seriously...

[But today's about Seto and he slips his hand into his brother's.]

But I'm glad you're happy.

Again...you never deserved to be treated any differently.

[ He squeezes Ken's hand. ]

And I'm even happier that you're by my side.

[His face is bright red at this point, but he tries to not pay attention to that.]

You deserve this and more. That's really all there is to it.

[Seto's had a hard life, too. He might not have fought monsters, but he'd dealt with people who were just as bad, it sounds like.]

Ah Kaiba. [Taiki hadn't expected to see him here, but where else would he be getting ready truly?]

How are you? Do you need help?

[He looks nervous, which was understandable. Wedding days would be nervewracking he was sure.]

Taiki. It's good to see you again.

[ Kaiba gives him a respectful nod and a smile. ]

Largely reassurance that I'm not about to make a fool of us. We threw all of this together in less than a week, and I'm hoping that was the right decision. Simple or not, long or short...the vows are the important thing. Right?

[He smiled gently and reached out for Kaiba's hand.]

What is important is the love you and Yugi share. Everything else is just...

[He looked up at him.] It will be wonderful.

[ The kind gesture is appreciated. Seto glances over at Taiki, and remarkably: it works. He's reassured, feeling a new wave of calm. ]

I never thought I'd feel any of this. Definitely never thought I'd marry.

Happiness...turns out it's real after all.

[ A little laugh. ]

Glad you're here.

I am glad you have found it. [Happiness was real and it fills his heart that Kaiba knows it.]

I am glad to be here too. It will be wonderful. So you need not worry.

Thank you, Taiki. Now if I can just get my rationality to cooperate...

[ Laugh. He fixes a stray hair one last time, then takes a breath. ]

Ready to come with us? It's a short ceremony.

Of course... If you are ready.

[He smiled, glad he could help even a little bit.]

I am.

[ He looks at the reflection one last time, smiles, and turns away from it. ]

Right through the gate. And...thanks again.
