Unwavering Bond (open)
Who: Seto, Yugi, and their family and friends
Where: Sports Gym
When: Nebula 19
What: Two dweebs with cards get hitched.
Warnings: Dangerous levels of sap. Proceed cautiously.
[ On the evening of Nebula 18, Seto pops onto the ICP screens. The only thing different about his appearance is that his hair is slicked back (someone's experimenting), and he clears his throat. ]
...Good evening. We hinted at it during our game the other day, and we've told a few of our closest friends, but it's official. Yugi and I are getting married tomorrow night. We realize it's last minute, but a few recent circumstances forced our hands and we didn't find it prudent to wait anymore.
As it's last minute, we don't expect a lot of company, but anyone's welcome to witness it. Don't worry, it's going to be a very quick ceremony by wedding standards. We'll also have light snacks afterward.
---
[ After...not that much planning, to be honest, the day is here. The gym is clean, with about 30 chairs lined up in front of a clear space. A small smattering of blue and purple balloons decorates the hall, and overall it's just set up to be a quiet commitment ceremony.
Let's see if it stays that way. ]

Bringing a cake and sweet treats!
Her Eevee, Lunja, had a tray strapped to her back, and was carting in a smattering of sugar cookies shaped like Kuribohs, with little frosting eyes. Being a small pokemon it couldn't carry much but wanted to be useful so Silvia had capitulated easily.
Silvia herself was carrying a layer cake and a bag with more of the cookies. Finding a clear spot she started setting them up, giving a satisfied sigh. Upon reflection she hoped.. well.. the cake didn't look too out of place. She had intended to include blue as well.. but she'd used too much food coloring to make the variations in purple... oh well. It was probably .. fine.]
no subject
He bustles over to help her put everything in place. ]
...I didn't know your skills had artistic flair too.
no subject
That's.. uh.. part of the fun isn't it? The embellishments.
[Lunja arched her back to indicate that her cookies shouldn't be forgotten, and Silvia leaned down to take them from her companion]
I just hope these will be enough.
no subject
[ He smiles at the Kuriboh cookies as he passes them over. ]
They're perfect, Silvia. How can I repay you?
no subject
That'll be nice. That'll keep the focus on you and Yugi.
[Waggling a free index finger through the air]
Huh? Repay me? You don't have to do that. This is something I wanted to do. Besides, I used to make sweet treats for my bff all the time.
[Remembering the thought fondly but also feeling a pang of nostalgia. It had been a long time since she'd even spoken to Glynis.]
Really, I was happy to do it.
no subject
[ And that's the softest sentiment he can muster. ]
Don't forget to have fun while you're here, too. Have you danced yet?
no subject
Sure thing.
[Or "you're welcome" but somehow the traditional response felt off in this scenario to her. It's not like this was some tremendous favor or anything, it was just a simple gift]
Danced? Oh.. no. Not yet.
[Shooting a furtive look out to the portion of the car reserved for the activity. It's not like she had anyone to dance with, and she'd feel kind of silly dancing by herself... or with Lunja]
no subject
Then dance with me.
[ He's done this for work events once or twice, but this is of course far more pleasant. Silvia is a friend he wants to treat right. ]
no subject
As the time stretched on awkwardly, Silvia felt a fuzzy nudge near her ankle, some encouragement from Lunja.]
Oh! Ah- that's very nice of you... but I... you see.. [Then she burst out into awkward giggling that sounded way too loud to her ears but was probably at a normal volume]
[Cough. Managing to stifle herself- she redirected her gaze floorward] I.. don't actually, I haven't danced .. well I have danced.. but not with.. [a guy. A taken guy. A very taken guy... so why did she need to be nervous? Would the babbling ever stop.] I have seen enough movies.. I could probably.. not completely embarrass you.
no subject
[ Seto offers his hand one more time. ]
It's not busy, hardly anyone's here. And you'll be ready for the next one.
no subject
If you're sure- I don't think I'll step on your toes... er.. I'll try not to.
[Then she tentatively reached out to place her hand on his. Briefly she wondered if this is what it would have been like to have an older brother that didn't detest you.]
no subject
[ He leads her out, gently guides her into position, and the fun begins. See? It's not so scary. ]
Thanks again for coming. And saving the cake.
no subject
Can you imagine- if the Kaiba I knew ever found out that we technically danced together in another life?
As they got into position, she struggled for where she should look... at him.. right?]
I mean... I had to know what all the pillows were for, right? The cake was just bonus.

[Yugi well aware of what to him amazing mean and to him something like this was pretty much amazing. After all a lot of work would have had to go into it.]
no subject
Thank you. I've just always found the whole process relaxing- something to focus my thoughts on.
[Speaking of nerves. As she continued setting up, her eyes flitted to Yugi]
You're not feeling nervous about today, are you?
no subject
[At least try and make something sweet that might be nice once in a while.]
As for nerves. A little but not as much than what I was expecting honestly. But I think that's because there is nothing to worry about.
no subject
[She added the last part a little more shyly.]
Mm. That's true. Kaiba has stuck with you through a lot, I doubt he's going to skip out on the proceedings today. You've both built up plenty of trust between you.
no subject
[He did wonder what Kaiba would like or what his friends would like. Maybe asking them might be a good idea.]
What would you say is the best thing to bake first?
[He smiled slightly.]
Yeah... Which if you have said this was where things would end up I don't think I would have believed you back then.
no subject
[That and friends are a good source for suggestions just like Yugi thought]
Cookies are generally pretty forgiving, or brownies. Their recipes are pretty simple but they taste amazing.
[Silvia bit back a laugh]
I don't think anyone could have foretold this, no.. but life isn't really supposed to be predictable.
no subject
[He smiled slightly at least]
So basically best to start easy, right with things like you suggested? [The smile soon turned into a light chuckle.]
It really isn't, but sometimes you think you are positive about something, only to discover that isn't the case.
no subject
[She cautioned suddenly]
If you don't get the temperature right, the candy won't setup and you'll have a HUGE mess on your hands... and maybe on the implements you used and any surfaces it dripped on.
[Said from personal experience]
I guess... you just never know. I mean, it keeps life interesting, right?
[Sparing him a wink]
no subject
[He laughed slightly. He knew right away he would get it so very wrong.]
But you are right, it does keep life interesting.
no subject
Oh- but don't worry if your first try doesn't turn out quite right on any recipe you select. That happens, until you get used to it. Same with anything else.
[It wasn't as if she'd never had a mishap of her own afterall. There was a small lull in the conversation when she remembered she hadn't said something important yet]
Congratulations, Yugi.
no subject
[He smiled slightly.]
Thank you.
