all i see is a fake revolution [open]
Who: Murderbot and possibly YOU!
Where: Various places along the train; Quiet Carriage, as a starter!
When: Nebula 25-on.
What: Unhappy with the events on the station, Murderbot attempts to debrief those involved and gather a bit more information while also trying to figure out a plan moving forwards to Deal with the Void Ministry.
Warnings: kanye shrug
They'd been tricked.
It wasn't the fact that it happened so much as they'd fallen for such. It had fallen for such. Murderbot - Rin - really, really hated the feeling of being tricked in such a way, and the fact that everyone was all right meant nothing. It almost felt angrier for such; all this worry, all this shit, and for what?
So a bunch of assholes could interrogate them and toss them back out when they were done.
To keep itself from getting too frustrated, Murderbot doesn't bother with the comms. Considering it's about to do what it hates most - initiate social activity (though 'social' is used loosely), a couple signs will do-
-with a location being one of the quiet cars, and timeslots available for anyone who bothers doing so. Murderbot will be in one of the quiet coaches to 'conduct' these, which really boils down to it staring grumpily at whomever's across from it for a few moments before beginning, voice as flat as a board;
"What happened."
Between its own 'interviews', it remains in the quiet car just...staring at the wall. Outwardly, at least. Inwardly it's trying to piece together the fragments of knowledge, and occasionally it can even be found in the library car, searching for anything related to the Void Ministry. Because, quite frankly...
It can't not consider them a security threat.

He doesn't give much warning, he slams a few books down in front of Murderbot. The Founding Six, A Void Military, a book of architecture that he'd kept for himself called Open Spaces: The architecture of System #392, as well as a couple of related train and treaty books to go with it.
He pulls up a chair and without saying a word, opens it to a page showing a person in a mask and slides it across to Murderbot.
Then, after it has time to be noticed, he asks. "Did the rooms have doors or entrances whatsoever?"
no subject
Huh.
Murderbot looks down at the books, up to Yondu, then back down at the books- specifically, the one with the mask. It takes it, looking it over with a frown.
"From what they've said, they were all kept in one room- no doors or exits. A wall of monitors, some chairs, cots, a place to make food. I'll ask the next person to describe the mask," it adds, tapping the page. "And follow up with a few others."
But this? This is a start. This is firm information that it didn't have before.

He pulls out a sheet of paper, handing it over, a list of books.
"Most of these should be available in the library still. A couple are fiction but might have somethin' in the way of truth. Found some ways we might be able to call for representation should we need it. Ones what broke laws in the past an' some idea of what laws they broke. Ones which are declared humanitarian."
He folds his arms on the table. "...An' I still didn't notice the bastards under my damn nose...."
no subject
(They also might not be, but Murderbot isn't the sort of construct that counts on something nice happening.
"I need to read these." All of them. "And calling for representation is going at the top of the list."
He'll take his books to the library after he's done with them for anyone else
Yondu always assumes the worst. The heavy duty fighters. The SWAT. The infiltrators. The jailers. He's assumed the worst and tried to prepare for the worst for months now. And what did it amount to? Him running around in a maze like a chicken with its head cut off.
"These sound like #392 but there are others, could just be related, but considerin' all it says in here it's likely them. Gettin' in contact with Void Scouts took takin' over a TV tower. Don't know if we'll be in a position to do that again an' know the right way to holler out for the peacemakers. I've been hopin' #6 might be able to back us up if they know kid's lives are at stake, or the Mercy train might help us out."
But there's one last option, one he doesn't like to consider, but one he'd be willing to do.
"...I figured if we needed to buy time, I or someone else willin' to take the hit could volunteer for void tests. Hold 'em up. Apparently, they forgive a lotta debt for that kinda thing, even if it could mean the worst."
you are a beautiful person having all the reference links at least lmf
"One, they end up dropping the bullshit hostility and start working with us. Two- we're a threat, and they try and deal with us."
It would like number one. Guess what it's preparing for.
no subject
Maybe he's wrong. Maybe they'd hear them out. But he's not risking it. He'll buy time if he has to.
He shakes his head. "Sometimes not havin' an ID is reason enough, or not havin' a home. That's assumin' they even consider us people. I been in that place." That's why the Ravagers existed. To have a place between worlds that the expats of the other Empires could go to. "Number one is what I'd like, but I'm preparin' for both cases."
He pats the treaty book. "These sound like... if we point out a bunch of our lives depend on this train, they seem the most likely to hear us out. And I dunno, maybe the Mercy train could blanket cover us."
But he's really paying for the fact that he didn't trust most people enough to have this discussion with them. But the ones that he did trust have slipped through the cracks, vanished and strolled away from the Voidtrecker. So here he is, dumping what he knows on someone in the blind hope that person will take him seriously. Because that's the point of issue in his trust here on the train. He's not expecting much in the way of betrayal anymore. He's generally figured most people aren't so invested in fucking everyone else over that it's a risk. It's that he's expecting to not be taken seriously.
no subject
Seriously.
"Then let's see if we can convince the train to go to a stop we decide." It's still extremely uncomfortable with trying to make a direct communication, considering how astronomically powerful she is, but. For this? It'd be willing to try.
Just as Yondu's clearly willing to buy time in any way possible. It won't bother trying to argue otherwise, at least not right now; simply put, they can't afford to assume it'd be unnecessary.
no subject
Even if it was a Ministry world, maybe it'd take the risk.
"...I sent it a message and it didn't respond. Usually it gives a 'thank you for feedback' kinda thing. But I was pissed an' told it to give us the resources to figure our way out of these situations. There was nothin'. It didn't say nothin'.
"Maybe that finally answers whether it's person enough to feel a thing about what happens." Judging from silence alone. "The other option could tie in with it bringing in less people. I had a fear it was runnin' low on juice."
no subject
Whups. Just gonna fix that and-
"I'll query her systems. See if I can make any headway."
no subject
He remembers what Rich said about Jack wanting to use that thing in his head to try and interface with the train or somethin' along those lines. Yondu's not savvy enough in Murderbot experience to know that anxiousness is a seldom thing, but he's also not savvy enough in emotion in general to recognize it as anything but acknowledgment of an unwanted burden.
"If you find somethin', will ya let me know? I-" He sighs. "Part of the reason I got the flight sim was... I didn't fully trust that we'd always be able to rely on the train to defend us. Still don't." Even if he trusted the train as a well-meaning entity (he doesn't) he'd still not trust one being to be a reliable savior. "Kaiba an' I both got a vested interest in learnin' somethin' about voidcraft. If we can find out more, we was plannin' on makin' a unique program in the flight sim to study it."
And he didn't want to say all that shit where the train would hear. Maybe it'll listen less in the quiet room. But right now the future is so uncertain that he needs either all the help he can get, or pass on what he knows in case of his absence. It's then that his own uncertainty is showing.

Most of them are, well, simple. Meant for a purpose, and not thinking beyond that, because why would they need to? It's only when you get in to the level of constructs where that thinking is required that things start to get complicated. And then there's units like ART, who make SecUnits - Murderbot included - look like those simple AI.
And the train, in turn, absolutely dwarfs ART in comparison. To say Murderbot has been intimidated is an understatement- not that it'd admit such aloud. It's taken time for it to admit it to itself.
"But. I'll let you know what I find out." Yondu is firmly on the 'in' list, at this point, in regards to their security. Assuming he can keep putting this paranoia to goo duse.
no subject
Well, he just said 'we' there and he didn't need to be a part of that attempt. But the sentiment that he's invested too is there.
"I'll keep lookin' into ways to communicate. I picked up some stuff from my universe recently. If I know what we need I can try to grab some more."
