Gwen wanders the train when there’s nothing to do, when she’s run out of ideas for a possible drum kit set up. When she’s gotten bored of dancing in the gym to zero music. Or when her spider sense tells her to just move. How she find herself at the dreaded wall today is anyone’s guess but she’s there in time to see what Danny does and she can’t help herself.

She laughs. She feels evil for it. But there it is.it reminds her of the stupid crap her brothers do and she misses them all day every day. This helps.

“Oh, my God. I’m so sorry for laughing. Dude are you okay?”

She’s still giggling some. Just a tiny bit.

Peter's in the same place he usually is around this time of day-chilling in a webhammock in the dressing car and reading a book-today is calculus so he's also got a pen to work through the problems. He offers a half-hearted hello to his girlfriend as she passes him and doesn't spend too much time wondering why she's going into the storage car.

Almost immediately after, he hears the crash and looks up from the problem he's currently working on and frowns. What was that? He rolls out of the hammock and moves into the storage car to see Gwen laughing and Danny looking a little confused.

"Dude, tell me you didn't just ignore the sign. It's kinda there for a reason."

Danny rubs at his forehead where it had hit the wall and staggers back a few steps.

And then he realizes that he'd had an audience. Great. Glad that being kidnapped to a space train hadn't changed the long running trend of having witnesses for his most humiliating moments.

"I think I gave myself a headache," he says, while privately hoping that neither one of them asked what exactly he'd been trying to do. "I always figured signs like that were more of a suggestion."

“As someone who punched the wall a few times and broke her hand? It’s a hard rule. Just trust me on that one.”

Oh, Danny. Oh, honey no. You’re in the presence of two super heroes. They’re going to ask the question you want asked the least.

“What were you trying to do?”

Peter, at least, winces in sympathy. He Understands better than anyone, don't worry. Or worry, because you don't want to be the same mess that is Peter Benjamin Parker.

He glances at Gwen because he was just about to ask that same thing. "Were you hoping for a kind of Platform 9^3/4 situation? 'Cause you coulda just asked."

Danny panics. Very quietly. He really didn't have any excuse for this that didn't involve explaining that most walls were only solid for him if he wanted them to be.

"Uh, no? I don't think so? What's Platform 9 3/4?"

Maybe if he didn't answer the other part they'd forget about it?

Danny uses Dodge the Question! It’s not very effective. That’s a tactic her brothers use when they’re being stupid and it’s not gonna work for her. At all. One eyebrow ticks upward and her arms cross over her chest, expression less than impressed. Typical big sister shit. Don’t mind her.

“What were you trying to do?”

She’ll worry about the Harry Potter stuff in a bit.

Peter looks offended at that question. How could he not know Harry Potter? It's only one of the best book series ever. He opens his mouth to ask but Gwen talks first and he just looks at her and then back at Danny.

"We won't judge. Or, at least," he shoots a grin at his girlfriend. "I won't judge."

"I... just kind of walked into it?"

He had no plausible excuse for this.

“That’s walking where you’re from? Because where I’m from, that looked a lot like running and I’ve seen a lot of running. Car thieves. Bank robbers. Muggers. My brothers when they’re playing tag.”

She leads an interesting life. “Are you okay? I can get some ice if you need it.”

Peter just nods along side her, trying to think of a group he missed.

"And Bicycle thieves." He adds on the example, as if that one should definitely be mentioned. They both lead interesting lives.

"It's always weird when they run," Gwen points out, turning to look at Peter with a look of I don't get it on her face. "It's like...you just stole a bike. Why not try to ride that away? Why run along side it? What's that going to accomplish? And when they do try to ride the bike away, they almost always run into something very stupid."

"Is it weird if I find it a little concerning how many kinds of minor criminals you guys are familiar with?"

Not that he had a lot of room to talk. Although with all the ghosts running around there honestly weren't that many bicycle thieves and muggers in Amity Park any more.

Also please keep talking. If he was really lucky they'd forget to ask about the wall incident.

"I know, right?" Peter asks Gwen, arms crossed as he looks over at her. "I still haven't figured that out yet. Have they tried to like yeet the bike at you, yet? This one dude did and then tried to scale a fence. I don't know why he thought that was gonna stop me, or even slow me down."

He turns back to Danny and just offers a shrug. It's not even kind of concerning to him.

"Eh, it's kinda what happens in New York. I'm from Queens so petty crimes are pretty high. But a crime's a crime and I got a job as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to keep those crimes to a minimum."

As far as Reigen could see, a teenage boy had just run straight into a wall for no real reason. "What the hell--oi, idiot! The wall doesn't break down that easy!" He walks over to where Danny is to assess the damage to the kid's face. "You bleeding at all?"

Despite how abrasive he is about it, Reigen really is concerned.

Danny was more annoyed than hurt, although he would probably have a decent sized bruise on his face later.

And of course someone had been there to witness the humiliating moment. Because when it came to his life and secrets, it was never easy.

"I'm fine," he says as he gingerly feels around his face. "It was a wall, and I wasn't running that fast.

Although now he suspected he would have to come up with some kind of explanation, and he has no idea where to even start on that.

"Whew. Ok, nothing looks broken. Let's just get you some ice." Reigen surveys Danny's face, deciding that they should take care of this sooner rather than later. Still, he's not about to let go how...ridiculous that is.

"Why did you run into it anyway? Do you have some ability that lets you break walls?"

"What? No! That would be ridiculous." He grins nervously. "I just lost track of where I was running."

On a train. Into a wall. Somehow.

"Hey, there are a lot of super-powered kids and former dead people running around. I wouldn't be surprised." Reigen's always been used to the supernatural, so any other phenomena are pretty easy to shrug off.

"...seriously? Watch where you're going, it all goes one way on here." Yeah, he doesn't sound like he's buying it. Sorry Danny.

"Well obviously I know that now." It might have been a stupid excuse, but he was stuck with it and running with it for now.

"Uh, superpowers and former dead people? Haven't run into anyone like that, as far as I know." That was absolutely not the expression of someone feeling guilty who was also bad at lying.

"I mean, there are plenty of people who would talk about it if you asked. Hell, I work as a psychic where I'm from. If you ever have evil spirits to deal with, I'm your guy." Reigen offers a hand for Danny to shake.

"You only got here a few days ago, right? I'm Arataka Reigen."

Danny reaches out and shakes, with his own noticeably cold hand.

"I'm Danny Fenton. And did you say psychic? What good is something like that against ghosts?"

Hm, well, that cold hand is a little strange. Is this kid alright?

"Well, you can sense and exorcize ghosts when you have psychic abilities, so it's the kind of thing that helps for some jobs."

Danny could honestly say that he'd never heard of that method before.

"Weird. Most ghost hunters back home just use ectoweapons."

"Ah, ectoweapons! I've heard of those!" No he hasn't.

"Those aren't really as common where I'm from as they are in the West, though. Not as many sources for ecto-technology, so holistic exorcism is just easier."

Danny eyes him skeptically.

"Okay... so what's holistic exorcism?"

"The kind that doesn't use technology. Haven't you seen movies?"

There's gotta be at least one movie that has a semi-accurate portrait of exorcism (or one that benefits him), right?

"Plenty. But people usually don't watch movies about ghosts back home."

Why would they when there were real ghost running around outside?

"Probably because of the ghost technology, right? Is the existence of ghosts just accepted fact in your world?"

He's got many questions, so the whole wall crashing and body temperature thing has been forgotten for now. Lucky Danny.

That surprises him into a quick, bitter laugh.

"I'd say so. We get so many ghost attacks my school runs ghost drills and the ghosts have their own segment on the nightly news, just after the weather."

Raven had already done at least a cursory examination of the train. She'd had other things on her mind, not least of which keeping herself calm and controlled. She thought she'd been used to feeling lonely...

So she was, once again, going to see what she could tell--IF she could tell--if there was anything about the Engine Room. Beyond what they all had learned already. Except someone was there; she could sense the presence before getting to the door.

She'd found she could phase somewhat between the cars, but not outside of the train. With someone there though, Raven used the normal door. Just in time to see the impact. Internally, and a bit externally, she winced in sympathy.

Danny staggers back from the wall and rubs at his forehead, where a headache was already getting started. That... did not go at all as planned.

Not noticing his company yet, he immediately goes back to the wall and starts testing it, pressing his hand up against it for a few seconds and then trying another spot.

Raven just observed a bit more before speaking softly. "Looking for some kind of switch?" He hadn't been trying to walk through it, had he?

"No," he says absently with all of his thoughts focused on the problem in front of him. "I'm just trying to figure out why I can't walk through it."

Suddenly he realized what he'd just said and quickly turns around and jumps back in a panic.

"And... I didn't mean to say that in front of some person I've never met before." He grins, extremely nervously. "Because its not like I can walk through walls or anything. Normally. Because that would be ridiculous."

Danny can't exactly see it, but Raven might be smiling slightly, hidden in her cowl. "Don't worry." Walking closer to him and the wall, before reaching a hand out. "I'm good at keeping secrets." A circular section, shifting and with slightly jagged edges, of the wall became outlined in what could only be energy. Black energy that was like the absence of light, with white edges.

Raven pressed her hand against her dark-energy, and found no give. "I can't phase through it either, or teleport to the other side. It's blocked."

Okay, that was different. Also seriously cool-looking.

"So.... I guess you're one of the teens with superpowers everyone here has been telling me about?"

Was she some kind of ghost? But she wasn't setting off his ghost sense.

Also, she wasn't green or blue. That was usually a good hint.

Definitely not a ghost--if anything she's very pale, and slightly grey.

"I'm not surprised if there are a few of us here." Raven murmured, sighing and withdrawing her hand. "I can't sense anyone or anything behind the wall either..."

"You can do that? Awesome."

Danny cringes a little. "I guess there's not much point in pretending to be 100% normal any more." He sighs. "But I can say that I can't feel any ghosts on the train right now."

The compliment makes Raven smile a bit under her cowl. She's not used to being called 'awesome'. "You seem normal enough to me, although I'm not exactly the best person to measure that against." Trying to keep the sarcasm out of her voice--at least any of the mean sarcasm. "I'm an empath--I can't sense any being that might have emotions on the other side of this wall. So either something is blocking it, like with our teleporting and phasing, or it's a being that doesn't have emotions."

An eyebrow raises. "You sense ghosts huh? I haven't sensed any either, although I don't specialize in it."

He shifts uncomfortably, before finally deciding to go for it. If anyone could understand, it would probably be another teenager with weird powers. (And if it was partially the loneliness of being the only non-evil non-clone one of his kind causing him to jump at the chance of a meeting with the first other teenager with powers he'd met, who would know?)

"I'm half-ghost," he says. "If there are others around I can usually feel them. But I'd be grateful if you could keep that a secret. I'm not really sure yet whether there are any ghost hunters on board, and I really don't want to be exorcised. Or dissected."

There's a slow blink, before Raven laughs softly. "I'm not sure I want to know how being half-ghost works but don't worry. I'm good at keeping secrets." She was also fairly sure that her being half-demon would mean she'd be the one dissected or exorcised first.

"Oh, good. That's a relief."

He really hadn't been completely sure how she'd take it.

"I'm Danny, by the way. Danny Fenton."

Raven simply makes a small amused noise. "For what it's worth, I've seen far stranger than a half-ghost. I live with at least 2 stranger people, normally. " Hopefully that'll help some more too. "Raven."

"Those must be some interesting roommates?"

Though Danny found it hard to picture. He was kind of used to being the weirdest thing in the room, if you didn't count certain ghost's eccentric personalities.

Or his parents experiments.

"I live with a cyborg, an alien princess, a shapeshifting vegetarian who turns into different animals, and a former circus-acrobat-turned-vigilante trained by one of the greatest detectives of our world." All entirely in a deadpan as if that was normal. "I was also raised in an entirely different dimension by pacifistic monks, before coming to Earth."

Yep--totally normal.

"Okay, you definitely win. All I've got is being a half-ghost in a family of ghost-hunters."

Raven blinked slowly under her cowl. "I didn't exactly mean it as a competition." Pausing, and she looked down slightly. "More to show you that you're not as abnormal as you think."
