A New Platform [Intro Post November]
On the Train
The train continues its journey
"Good morning Voidtreckers, it is day one of the month of Orchestraa. Points have been updated on the system."
With points updated, everyone can spend the morning shopping. Most people will be expecting the second announcement that comes a few hours later.
"Shortly arriving into a designated void platform. Exit from void in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one." A lurch and a jolt and the windows fill with the fog that means they are at a platform.
The doors open. As usual, those who leave first notice nothing, walking silently, rucksacks on their backs, towards the barriers. Agent 8, Ai Haibara, Ea-nasir, Hajime Aikawa, Ienzo, Jade, Jon Snow, Merwen , Ryu, Son Goku, Takato Matsuda, Phil Connors, Wen Sizhui; all pass across the platform, not looking back. And then they're gone, disappeared through the barriers and into the fog beyond.
But on the platform itself there are four new faces. Wearing hoodies, two in purple, two in red, in various states of confusion.
For New Passengers
At first all they can see is steam billowing around them as they come to their senses. As their eyes adjust, they find themselves on a platform. The platform is long but narrow, a brick wall running across one side. It is not quite enough to shelter them from the torrential rain that falls around them.
They are standing, in clothes that are not their own and a style they might not even recognise. They are carrying a rucksack on their back. For a moment it seems to just be them, alone on the foggy, rainy platform; then the fog begins to fade and they realise they aren’t alone.
The platform isn't large, but it is enough to hold the four figures scattered around, all facing the tracks, all dressed in cargo trousers, hoodies and waterproofs. Then there is a roaring sound and out of the fog arrives a train. Jet black with gold writing on the side. The Voidtrecker Express. There is a hiss as the doors slide open and out pours a strange assortment of people, over a hundred at least. Some are human, some are less so. Most are wearing the same hoodie in one of the four colours, red, orange, blue and purple, though some are sporting different clothes in a variety of styles.
Behind them, the doors close, and the train is cloaked in the same fog that hides the world beyond the platform.
The Train
After a short time, perhaps ten minutes or so, the fog clears and the doors hiss open again. Those from the train may encourage those on the platform to board. It’s not like there's anywhere else to go and even if there was, you feel a pull. A need to board, a feeling that staying on the platform would lead to something terrible. If that is not enough, there are plenty of people on the platform now, to encourage them onto the train or just the fact it is pouring down- the train might be alien but it is dry at least.
Each ICP shows the same message and next to the screens there are stacks of leaflets written by those on the train, with further information (see
'Publications'). The store rooms have been restocked with fresh ingredients, it seems the food of the month is octopus.
For passengers that have bought items, these are also scattered around the luggage carriage in various suitcases and bags. For those from red team who go and investigate they will find a box of miniature pumpkin cakes. There is enough for one each including the new team members.
New passengers will find their ticket allows them into their cabins. In most rooms, the occupied beds are obvious, leaving the spotless, empty spaces for the newcomers. Room is tight but there are storage cubbies at the head of each bed, beds fold up and the bottom bunks double as benches for the small table. There is storage under those benches full of spare blankets and pillows.
They won't be the only ones looking for their room, it seems that Sleeper Carriage Four has disappeared and those who were living there have been reassigned, their new room is on their ticket and they will find all their belongings safely stowed in their rucksacks in their new room.
Departure
A second horn sounds to encourage any stragglers braving the tain, and the doors slide shut. Veteran passengers know what will happen next, but they may wish to brief their new companions.
The train sets off, the fog obscuring the view again as it picks up speed.
"Welcome aboard, passengers of the Voidtrecker Express." A female-coded artificial sounding voice echoes throughout the train. "Please take the time to read the passenger information displayed on the Information and Communication points and familiarise yourself with the layout and emergency exits."
The train begins to tilt, leaving the ground and rising up into the fog-filled sky.
"Entrance into Voidspace imminent. New passengers are advised to remain seated. Entry into Voidspace in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."
A shudder, a jolt, a lurch to the left. A flash of light, colourful and blinding. As quick as it happens it is done. The train seems to steady itself. The fog from the windows is gone now, replaced with a kaleidoscope of ever-changing colours.
Welcome to the Void!

Welcome to the Void!

"Just find it kicking around luggage with my name on it, nothing special." He grins. Oh this thing? He just found it, honest.
"Figured I should finally have one of my own since I'm learning how to use one. Maybe be useful in a fight for once."
no subject
"Well I wish mine tucked itself away! Probably too big though." Admittedly. He does come closer though to give it a look, taking in the length of it, head tilted to an angle.
"How's it feel? You want some target practice? As long as you go easy on me," he says with a grin. Don't touch the hair!
no subject
"Pff, don't you 'tuck' yours away in your arm band?" That's better then it folding into something small and easy to carry isn't it?
"Mm... kinda heavy, or heavier than the training ones, but not a whole lot more. Still gotta get used to it." He gives a half hearted flex of one arm, "S'why I've been working on my gains, yeah." Dennis grins.
no subject
Which he includes a wave of his wrist with said arms band on it. But he then pauses, and moves out his hand to bring out his blade, blue and aquatic and chunky. He did offer to be some target practice, after all. He rolls his shoulders, bouncing off his feet.
"Come on then, give a swing! Let's warm you up!"
He'll be ready to meet those swings with his own blade, give a bit of a pushback and a swipe to be blocked - just something to give Dennis a real test of his new toy with.
no subject
But he's excited to use his sword against Tidus, even if it looks small and boring by comparison. Tidus meets his 'attacks' easily of course and after blocking a follow up swipe, Dennis will rock back on his heels and smile.
"That all you got?" Big talk for a guy who only just got his own sword. He'll take a swipe at his good ol' pal and when he returns the favor brings up his hand instead, a blue barrier coming up to block the hit. Dennis looks pretty proud of himself, smiling.
"Still ain't much yet, but with this and a sword maybe I'll be badass soon enough." Maybe.
no subject
Smart.
"You better hope so," comes to meet the remark of future accomplishments, hurrying after "Show me what you've got now-!" as he bounces on his heels, pushing off the ground and towards Dennis feet first, around his chest. It's either that or a barrier he's going to be meeting, which either of those will give Tidus a momentum to jump higher, with those unfair physics.
And he'll come down from above with his blade ready to strike - but on the flat side, in case he actually ends up bonking Dennis on the head.
(But he's got to scare him a little after that last move!)
no subject
Though for all his attitude, Tidus is quicker and actually good in a fight, unlike Dennis. He does manage to block the first attack but barely with his own blade, stumbling backwards and landing ungracefully on the floor.
The barrier 'saves' him again, the flat of Tidus' blade still getting through it as it's not that strong using it so soon again, yet it does make the bonk on his head easier to take.
"Oi. Now you're trying to do my head in!" Some pal!
hello i never got this tag, let's fite
"Call it a lil' payback! But hey, don't sweat it, you're doing good! Well, even on your butt."
A state he's going to try and help with, offering out a hand.
"Keep going at it, and you won't fall for that for long. I'll have to find new tricks!"
