A day in the life of one Allen Walker

Who: Allen Walker and Open
Where: Gym Carriage, Dining Carriage, Games Carriage

What: Allen doing various things instead of going to his new cabin room

Gym Carriage
[Since the move from one cabin to the other Allen had checked out the names and noticed that two of them were female. So Allen knew that at certain times of the day he would be quick to either leave during the morning or stay away until he figured it would be okay to go back. So for those times he figured he might as well do a few things while he was about.

So of course he found himself in the same place he always training. After all he could feel and move his left arm again so why not. So of course his first thing was handstands and push ups at the same time. After a few hundred he removed one of his hands and waved the moment he could see anyone passing through.]

Hey there, you need the use the carriage or just passing through?

Dining Carriage
[When training was done his next thing was to go grab some food like always but this time he had a few guests with him. Timcampy was as usual sitting on his head watching as Allen was giving some food to a blue seal, a teddy bear and what seemed to be a mouse. He smiled slightly as they seemed happy.]

Game Carriage
[Allen would normally go to the games carriage to play a game or at least try and play a game but today was not one of those days. Today his pokemon friends were gather around him as Allen held up what seemed to be juggling balls.]

Okay now when I throw this at you, you can try and catch and then throw it back.

[He knew this probably wasn't going to work but hey he was going to try and teach them this trick for if he ever needs to pull something like this for a reason. Plus juggling was just fun. So he threw the first place to Teddiura who just managed to miss but not by a lot as Allen smiled.]

So close Lenalee. You'll get it next time. Now Popplio your turn. [He looked at his seal friend and threw the next one. She of course couldn't catch it but did manage to boop it with her nose and sent it a short distance back which caused Allen to clap lightly.]

That was good. Well done. Now Miccino you give it a shot. [With the last ball he throw it gently towards Miccino who tried to catch it and just barely managed to catch it. Allen seemed happy at the catch giving Miccino a clap, even Timcampy was flapping it's wings as a way of clapping.]

Well done Link. It seems like we are getting somewhere.

[Cute pokemon need to be fed too, he cannot help it at all.]

I do. They need some company and also feeding to.

[He smiled slightly as Teddiura was currently nudging at him for attention as he smiled and happily picked her up.]

I don't think I've introduced you to some of them, right?

I remember that one.

[ She gestures at the bear-like creature he's currently holding. Alice remembers seeing that one, if not just because she thought it was so cute.. That's how it kept sticking on in her memory.

Though after saying that, the young woman casts her gaze out over the rest of the present crew. ]

Though I am not quite as sure about the others.

Ah, so you remember Lenalee.

[Okay technically she was Jr, but he hadn't seen the original Lenalee in so long that really he was pretty sure at this point she wasn't ever going to show up again.]

So then the others are Popplio who I don't have a official name for still. Then we have Miccino who is called Link

[ Alice seems to consider the names for a moment, her gaze gliding over each of them as he points them out.. Though once he's done, she can't help but just let her gaze return to the guy here with her instead. ]

Why did you only neglect one of them when it comes to naming? You might end up making them feel left out.

[ Yes, this is what Alice is concerned with. For as blunt as she might be with people, she is extremely weak to animals. ]

It's more because the name I wanted to give just doesn't suit them...and I'm awful at thinking up others. So I tend to call her Pop sometimes.

[Not the same thing however, but the name he had originally planed was more for a reason that no longer worked.]

Plus the names I've used are based on people I know and it suited them but Popplio...I haven't got another perfect name based on a person I know.

[ For a moment Alice almost feels like naming these things after people he knows is.. a little weird.

But then Alice realises. She doesn't recognize any of those names. And while she isn't exactly social enough to know everyone on the train, she's fairly sure she at least knows the names of the people who have been here for a while now.. And there's no one named Lenalee here, for one.

So it's probably more Allen trying to remember the people close to him. To give himself something to remember them by. It makes her swallow up the compliment instantly. ]

Well, you could make one exception, right? [ She instead says, focusing - perhaps uncharacteristically - on the lighter topic here. ] I think Pop is a terribly cute name. It suits her.

Yeah, but it feels odd too.

[He didn't mind it though, it was better than calling her by her Pokemon name while others had actual names. There were exceptions to that and those were the Pokemon he didn't yet have back. One of which he hopes he never gets even if possible unless he thought it would be a benefit in someway.]

But sometimes not basing it on anything and making it thier own is a good thing.

Exactly!

[ She's not sure if that's him entirely agreeing with it, or just temporarily making something up so he can justify it to himself.. But either way, Alice seems to wholeheartedly agree with it, nodding as she reaches out to gently pat whichever one of the Pokémon is currently closest to her. ]

Is the important part not giving them a name you feel suits them? One you are comfortable always calling them, considering they are your precious friends.

[ Look, usually Alice is not willing to get this sappy.

But for a bunch of cute Pokémon? Maybe. Just a bit. ]

[He leaned back slightly. At least it was something he was fully agreeing with. After all the name he wanted just didn't work, but trying to think of one from a boy who was named after a dog was something else. It was a work in progress.]

I think that's correct. I mean it should suit them and their personality. But I've never really had to think up actual names before so... it's really not as easy as it seems.

[ .. is it really that hard? Alice seems to consider it for a moment, like she's wondering if it is for other people.. After all, as for her-- ]

I remember giving things names all the time when I was younger.

[ Before everything had gone to hell in a handbasket real quick. ]

I would give all of my stuffed animals names and pretend to have teaparties with them. Giving things names works better when you aren't thinking too hard about it. Then you might just only end up giving yourself a headache.

[ Also, yes.

She's still patting the Pokemon. She's not going to stop! They're all too cute!! Just look at them! ]

I never had things like stuffed animals or anything. [Patting is good at least.] Working for a circus and all I didn't have that luxury. [For one they didn't like him and liked to not give him food if he messed up. Also lack of getting paid.]

So my friends here were the first things I ever got to name honestly. That's odd isn't it?

It is not that odd.

[ And trust her, Alice knows a whole lot about oddities. ]

There are plenty of reasons as to why people might not have had stuffed animals when they were younger. [ Though Allen's happens to be a particularly sad one - but Alice can imagine some lighter potential reasons for it too.

But as she's thinking about what else he's saying, she can't help but wonder.. ]

Did they not have animals at the circus?

[He was at least glad to know it was that much of an oddity. But at the other question he frowned slightly.]

We did, but I was not a fan... for reasons.

[But he didn't pause long before speaking, a little bit brighter than he had been just moments before.]

But we did at one point have a dog when they're owner joined... [But the smile wouldn't last long before he looked to the floor slightly.] He was a good boy.

[ ...

Well. Nothing good happened to that dog.

Alice can tell, of course. She's not stupid, and if Allen talks about an animal in such a way, then something awful must have happened to it. It doesn't seem like he's thinking of a fond memory - especially when he's speaking in past tense on top of it. ]

I had a cat when I was much younger. [ She instead mentions, trying to turn the topic back towards something a little lighter for Allen's sake. ] She was a real dear. She even saved my life at one point. [ Alice smiles a little as she says it. ] Cats are such intelligent creatures.

[Alice would be 100% correct, but at least for now she has avoided finding out something about why Allen has his name.]

Sounds like a nice cat. Though the only cats I met really liked Timcampy. {He nervously looked over at the yellow golem who just seemed happily sitting there.]

But you cat really sounds smart. Saving your life and all that.

Of course she is smart. Dinah was the best cat around.

[ Alice will claim that forever. Even though it's been so long since she last saw Dinah, and even though she won't ever see her again, Alice will forever sing that cat's praises.

Especially since she kind of misses her. ]

She was so useful around the house too, always catching mice for our family.

Cats are the best for that. I can't even disagree with that.

[Cats were just really good at hunting. Poor birds though what do they do to deserve to be killed though? At least with mice it makes sense.]

Though I guess one has to be smart to be able to catch creatures that can fly to. Though did Dinah ever do that? Or was it just mice?

[ She shakes her head. ]

Oh, no. Birds too.

[ Something that might bother some people, but Alice seems entirely calm, even as she says that.. Despite the fact that she would have been a child still when Dinah was around and actually doing the capturing. ]

She was a very active little thing, you see.

[He nodded slightly. So cat gotta catch creatures, but that was technically their job in a way. At least with the mice.]

She also did her job well it sounds.

[Allen looked down at his friends who had started to nudge him for attention. So he was going to do his best.]

I have a question. Do you want to be friends with the Pokemon too? Seems a bit out of there, but I figured it might be nice.

[ Oh god.

Allen. Allen. He's just trying to be sweet, but in his total directness he manages to completely catch Alice off guard with that question - and therefor stun her. It makes her look over at him, her eyes wide, her face frozen as she tries to process the fact that he's asking it so casually.

As if it's nothing.

And the answer is an obvious 'yes', but there's no way she can answer like that! P-Please, openly wanting to make friends is a vulnerability, one she can't afford to show! ]

Shouldn't.. [ Once she manages to refind her voice, the surprise still present, Alice speaks very slowly.

Like she's still trying to figure out where her sentence is going, even as she's already speaking. Carefully picking her words along the way. ] .. they decide that by themselves, rather than either of us choosing for them..?

[ Nailed it. Good job on not just saying 'yes' to cute animal friendship, Alice. Can't show that you adore these things!! ]

[While some might think the question seemed a bit out there, Allen himself had his reasons and it was mostly due to the fact they seemed awfully interested so he figured it was at least best to ask before giving them the okay.

Just seemed like a good idea.]

Oh they have made the choice, I just have to ask and be polite first since they can't exactly ask themselves. Unless you speak their language.

Who says I don't? [ Speak their language, that is.

.. Alice definitely doesn't speak it, but it's a defensiveness that's entirely born from the fact that she's so shy and embarrassed right now. Those are vulnerable emotions, and Alice has always learned to hide those away, to stick them deep down where no one can find them, and instead substitute them with a better emotion.

Like rebelling against that sort of question.

But it's not like she wants to hurt Allen or the Pokémons' feelings either - it's a delicate balance to strike.

So after a moment, and after letting out a breath.. the young woman shakes her head. ]

They can stick by me whenever they like. [ That's a 'yes, they can be my friends' in Alice speak. ] I do not mind them.

[Allen is at least trying to understand the language that is Alice speak. He knows that she isn't exact in her wording but there is meaning behind what she does say.

So he at least understands what she is saying at least and it was enough to get him to smile.]

I figured you wouldn't mind. But hey you might be the first to understand them if you can. I'd want to know how. I can only tell by body language.

[ It would be nice to understand them, Alice thinks. She can kind of understand her own plush animals, but that's.. different, and she kind of knows it. Deep down.

But the way these Pokémon speak is something else entirely. ]

Maybe I will be able to figure it out through spending time with them.

[ There we go. The perfect excuse. Clearly she just has to spend time with them so she can learn their language, not because they are cute and cuddly or whatever!! ]

[Allen will accept the excuse because he knows how she is. Plus a part of him does think if any one of them could understand it would be her anyway.]

Maybe and if you do that would be amazing. I'm sure they would happy to.
