Who: Tobirama Senju (AU) & YOU!
Where: Kitchen, Quiet Car, Gym/Training room
When: Poi 1 - 10ish range.
What: Tobirama's bored which means he's getting up to no good. Making paper, scrolls, and doing what he does best: creating jutsu he probably shouldn't create. Though mostly just testing limits at the moment.
Warnings: None really!
-- COOKING UP... PAPER?
Its the very crack of dawn or whatever dawn would be in void space; not before curfew ends though he assumes not shortly after. The train seemed silent and bare of people which was an ideal time to take some of the paper he had bought on Osiga and make more paper with it. As this is what one does, clearly, with their mornings.
And so anyone looking to have some early morning coffee or tea might find a man dressed in a simple blue yukata. Technically his pajamas but who's counting. He has made tea, made sure access is still available, but the space is in an organized (and actually very organized) state of mess. By the time anyone rolls around there's quite a lengthy line of parchment paper on the floor and some kind of beige pulp drying on it. It, too, had been tucked as out of the way as possible to make room for people.
Tobirama himself is taking care of the mess he's made finding the whole process quite calming and gratifying. Diligently so. A nod of acknowledgement to any curious enough to drop by.
-- INK & BLOOD
It's late. He chooses the quiet car, ironically enough, as an appropriate place to make what are essentially bombs. Sitting cross-legged with tea on the far end of a table, a brush and ink set and paper he's picked up from Osiga. He stowed away... a lot of paper. Some now reimagined into last morning's scroll experiment.
The tags, though? Not inherently dangerous. They can't activate without specific steps so to the outsider's view it merely looked like he was doing calligraphy. And, to be fair, he took great care in the formula after cutting the paper just to size; quite care in placing the ink. Eyes flick up to passersby every now and then, happy to keep quiet company. He may, in time, move on to different seals and formulas. Making sure he's well prepared.
Though if enough time passes, well, he might get curious and start cropping up a few other more experimental formulas. Whether they will work is debatable but such is the way, isn't it?
-- BORED INNOVATION
Some few days into the month of Poi, perhaps even a week, and Tobirama finds himself in the gym car well enough away from others to do the things he has an interest in doing. Though it's not a popular time, as he tends to choose his timing wisely. The Senju was known for his water techniques but, given the lack of ways to pass the time, he figures why not strengthen his other elemental releases. Technically, he knew how to use many of them. Was he particularly skilled? Not as much.
But since he's here, and since he's got a burning desire to get up to no good, he starts to tinker, curious if he could find a way to produce an element from a place where no such element exists. Such as wind or earth. Because he can generate his own chakra into water, but the other elements... again, not as much. Lightening, perhaps. was the only secondary one he could crop up without any such sign of lightening about. This might well be what someone walks in on so ducking would be a good idea. Although one could walk in on various things. Since the fourth war, and a brief conversation with Yondaime, he's since upgraded his body flicker technique as well. And he's made a few formula tags to test. For science, as they say.
Though if you're looking for a more peaceful experience someone can always wander in during setup or a more calm experiment. Since he's also curious how much of his skills can be used here as opposed to home, if there are any changes. That and why have one practice weapon when you can have a hundred? Do they keep their form? Well, time will tell.
-- WILDCARD
At any given time he could be reading, could be wood carving with a sharpened rock until he gets a dang knife, could be making tea, and frankly could just be cleaning. It's oddly meditative for him. Feel free to drop in on any of these activities or whip something up yourself :) HMU on discord if you wanna chat about anything: yikes#4009

As for hat he'll ask about, its quite focused. Feet move over to the scroll he had set aside ready for exactly this purpose but does not yet hand it over. This besides, he needs to share how to use it. It took some added formula on his own behalf given the person using it will not naturally have chakra to unlock it but he's known shinobi before without the ability to wield their chakra, so.
"There's four main teams, although it seems less known to some there are splinter teams. Perhaps less official? I'm curious what they are, and on broader terms I'm curious how most missions flow. From Amaya's message, planning seems to not be the greatest skillset but perhaps this is more circumstantial than a lack of skill."

"We haven't been told explicitly what our team designations mean, we've had to infer them from comparing who gets placed where and what missions we're assigned. But as far as I can tell, it's this:
Red team members tend to be heavily tied to the fates of their worlds. You're important figures, the 'chosen ones' if you will. There's usually a ruthlessness and willingness to defy gods in you, so you get assigned the most dangerous tasks in a mission as a rule.
Blue team members are the other side of the chosen one coin. They're willing to sacrifice themselves at the drop of a hat for someone they love. They tend to be given diplomacy-like missions, helping out the citizens of whatever planet we visit and working together to protect them.
Purple team are the hero class. They're generally all competent in battle, and tend to get the broader-scale 'defend home base from invasions' missions. With the power in their numbers, they can turn the tide of a war.
As for orange? We're the leftovers. Anyone who can't fight is assigned to us, and our missions tend to alternate between tech support, exploration, and puzzle solving. Skilled fighters get assigned to us sometimes if they have exceptional intellectual ability, but we've been ambushed before by the enemy taking advantage of our collective weakness. That's why I'm training."
He pauses for a breath, then continues.
"Now that Kumoko's returned and she can use her teleportation powers to move people around, the subunits can resume. They're black and white, designated by armbands she gives out as a way to track her members. Black team are powerful fighters who are willing to teleport anywhere where they're needed---for example if orange is ambushed again and her powers aren't disabled, she can send us a few fighters for protection. White team are healers. They warp anywhere where people are wounded.
As for how the missions work, we tend to be split up according to the outlined categories. The train gives us a short briefing on the day of a mission that details the tasks, and people can self-sort if they feel they're better suited to another team's task. Then we touch down on the world and get to work. If you're backed into a corner you can usually evacuate by pressing the SCA, but it's a one way trip---there's usually no rejoining the mission if you do that.
Does that explain things?"

"I also have a fix for if her abilities are," a pause... considering how to phrase it, "deactivated, I suppose is the best word for it." He does like the sound of the black team. Unless red or blue have a mission he's particularly in alignment with Tobirama finds himself more drawn to the idea of placing himself where absolutely necessary to protect the most vulnerable or do what others can't.
"You mentioned however you have a small group of scavengers. I'm curious if there are more subunits outside of what you explain with black and white."
no subject
So maybe he should go? Not that he knew her very well either, but...he could try. As for the other query:
"The scavengers aren't really an organized group, though we probably should be. There aren't really too many other groups that I know of, just people trying their own things." He sighs and rolls his shoulder.
no subject
"I'll talk to her, at least," a pause, "the scroll, though. Let me show you how to use it."
no subject
Seto is particularly bitter about one very recent loss, and that might come through in his tone, so he has to take a moment to breathe.
"But I'm ready to learn."
no subject
Anyway, the scroll. So, he had to do some... experimenting. Given the people who will be using the scroll are not people who have chakra or know how to use what life force they do possess. "There's room for improvement but this will do for now," he starts to explain, unraveling the scroll.
Upon first glance, it's clearly filled with highly stylized kanji in a unique pattern that looks more formula than text, but a closer look shares a deeper story. It's not modern Japanese at all, rather entirely archaic. In the middle, within a circle, is the word for seal. He exhales, squatting down and thinking some.
"It can only have one user, that user needs to activate it will blood," he points to the place to do that, "a smear from your thumb will do, it just needs to know you. "At the moment, you will need everything at once. So I suggest what team you have find a place to keep materials for bringing back to the train. When everything is present, you can seal them. There is no limit to the amount but there is a limit to the radius that it will seal, and it will seal everything except human bodies so don't put your goods on a table unless you want the table to come with it."
A pause. "Truth is, Uzumaki Mito is the expert on seals but I was bored," he lets a short few laughs rumble under his breath, "and I know a thing or two about innovation and experimentation, so here we are."
no subject
Once done, he rubs his hands together, checking that they're clean. It wouldn't do to prematurely activate it.
"I'll fill everyone in on the plan when we land, then. Thank you."
Everything seems to check out with what he can manage to read, but...he wonders.
"Are there any side effects I should look out for?"
no subject
That we being Mito and he, well -- if Mito continues to find interest in aiding, at least. "No, it takes from the chakra I've stored in it. You're merely using that, and so there are no repercussions for you." A beat. "Nor me, really. It's a very small amount. These tools are, in our world, quite common. In their normal form at least."
no subject
He lifts a brow.
"Are there any variables that would affect how much chakra it takes from you? I don't want to be responsible for you falling ill at the worst moment."

He paid his debt, didn't he? Kaiba tries to project confidence, but it's not the easiest thing.
