Quiet Rooms
May finds herself in one of the quiet cabins after breakfast with a book in her hand. She was settling into life on board the train easily enough. She was glad that Peter was there with her so she didn't have to worry about him at home by himself. Also, she was internally grateful to Mr Stark for keeping an eye on him when she couldn't. It was a debt she wouldn't repay anytime soon. Of course, everyone else she had met so far seemed quite nice. She was looking forward to properly meeting everyone else though.

After finishing up in the quiet room, she made her way to the kitchen where she put together a bowl of salad and grabbed a can of tuna to add to it, one of the few things she could successfully make. The meal in hand, she settled at one of the tables and flipped through the network to see what she had missed.

Seeing May there now, Ignis paused mid stride. He hadn't had a chance to ever speak to the woman himself though he'd certainly inquired after her settling in with Peter. He'd also heard stories about her from Tony but this was different.
Her back was to him so as he went to grab some coffee, his gaze stayed down on his cup. Seeing the salad and tuna that May had in front of her made him wonder if he should..yes he was going to.
Decision made, he moved over to the refrigerator. Ignis immediately took some of the pumpkin soup out and gently poured it in a sauce pan to heat up. There was some pumpkin bread pudding that he'd made too along with a vanilla sauce so those things were being heated up as well. Renee's recipes from memory had proven to be an invaluable source.
Once everything was under control, his hands went back around his coffee mug. Words felt stuck in his throat, but Ignis had to do this. Keeping a small distance between them so as to not intrude on her personal space, he spoke up, gesturing with the coffee cup towards the stove.
"I'm warming up some pumpkin soup and some bread pudding if you would like some."
Re: Meal area
"Have we met?" she asked curiously. "I'm May if we haven't," she said with a smile introducing herself to be polite. She'd spoke to a lot of people on the train since arriving but hadn't yet met so many people in person as she would have liked.

But then she asked if they'd met and the advisor halted again, blinking before turning back around. That half second had given him an idea as to how to introduce himself without giving anything away.
Shaking his head, the advisor gave May a small smile. "No we haven't. It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Ignis." He'd heard so many wonderful things about her from Peter and according to Tony she'd been the one to deliver his devastating news to him. But none of that was mentioned.

Gathering all of the food stuffs to him, and started setting it all down for her to have. If this was a different person he would serve them but instead he just let her help herself to the soup and the bread pudding.
Setting a few plates and bowls with utensils down, Ignis finally took a seat across from May and patiently waited for her to be done.

Looking up at May with her question, Ignis played everything off and cool. "It is a rather interesting place I've found. But everyone has been quite pleasant and rather manageable." This was a reference to Tony but May wouldn't know that at all. He shook his head.
"But enough about me, how have you been settling in here?"

I agree it's interesting and everyone is nice. It makes things easier than if they weren't. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better though."

Ignis reminded himself that this was Peter's aunt and he seemed to have gotten his inherent friendliness from her. It was hard not to like the boy really even if he got himself into trouble. "There doesn't seem to be anyone with ill intentions aboard." At least, not yet.

"I just hope it stays that way," she replies unknowingly echoing his thoughts.

He nodded to May. "We've enough trouble during missions. Fighting amongst ourselves when no one willingly showed up in the first place would be ridiculous."
no subject
"It would be. I'm just glad that everyone seems willing to help."

There was another smile at May. "Indeed. So far we've been fortunate that there's been a relative sense of peace here."
no subject
"I hope it keeps up. I'm continually surprised there's so much to do around here though," she admits. "You'd think one would get bored after awhile but I'm yet to find it."
no subject
"As I'm sure we all do." Really fighting among themselves was the last thing that they needed. He acknowledged her words with a nod. "Indeed. It appears there's always something brewing in a place that should be quieter."
He's speaking of Tony of course.

All the food he could eat, lots of people to meet, and not a single ectoplasm sample on the fridge or half finished ghost weapon on the counter.
It was kind of weird, but still cool.
Today he'd thrown together a quick sandwich, before heading out to find an empty spot to sit. Seeing a free chair by May, he waves at her with his free hand.
"Hey, is anyone sitting there?"
no subject
"Not at all," she replied with a smile. "You're more than welcome to join me."

He was kind of hoping this was one of those messed up time things. He'd hate to see what was happening back home if it had really already been that long since he disappeared.

"Have you settled in okay?"

And it never, ever, ended well.
"Peter?" Wasn't that the guy that had been there when he had failed to walk through the wall?
"So I don't have to worry about flunking tenth grade? That's something, I guess."
no subject
"No, you don't have to worry about failing which must be a relief."

He shrugs. "We've met. Sort of." At the time he'd mostly been trying to find a way to get out of a very awkward conversation.
"That's cool, though. I don't think I've met anyone else here yet who has family here."
no subject
"I hope more people get family here, it is nice and I imagine it makes it easier."

They were his parents and he loved them, but...
He suddenly remembered the time he'd disappeared for one afternoon and they'd started towing a billboard sized photo of him through the city streets while calling his name through a bullhorn.
And that wasn't even getting into the issues with being half-ghost around them.
"Actually, I'm kind of hoping the rest of my family stays safe at home.
no subject
"Well that's fair, not everyone is close to their family. Do you at least have someone here to look out for you?"
no subject
He shrugs awkwardly. "No, I'm here alone. But I'm sure it will be fine."
He was perfectly capable of taking care of himself, despite what his sister said.

He grabs what sugary snacks he can find and is halfway out of the kitchen when he pauses and turns around.
“You’re Peter Parker’s aunt.” It isn’t a question—they’d met briefly once before.

It wasn't until he spoke that she looked up again. "I am," she said responding with a nod of her head. "You know him then?" she asked curiously.
no subject
The small boy cocks his head to the side, curious.
"We've also met, by the way. Briefly. My name is Joss Fitzthomas."
no subject
"Oh I think I remember, still it's good to meet you properly this time. How are you finding the train?'
no subject
"Opressive," he says, simply. "We're prisoners here. There are certainly far worse prisons to be in, but I'd much rather be at home with my foster family and my freedom."

Joscelin is currently turned away from May, digging around through the pantry for something sugary and laden with carbohydrates.
