What: Ryou figures out the 3d printer, dodges sleep
Warnings: Not that I'm aware of

1. 3D Printer

[Ryou is from the 1990s, meaning he's not familiar with a lot of more modern tech. More specifically, he's currently trying to figure out the 3D printer in the standard car. Thankfully it comes with instructions, but he's still hitting a bit of a learning curve here.]

So if I put the material in here, it'll make what I want? [Seems like that's how it works. Now he just needs the material and to pick one of the default item options to test it.]

2. Sleepless Nights

[Tonight's just one of those sleepless nights, it seems. Ryou's up in the gaming car, cup of coffee set to the side as he sorts through his Duel Monsters deck.

If someone walks in, he'll turn and say hi, then go back to his sleep avoidance induced deck sorting.]

Wonder how this would work if I removed Destiny Board...

[Yugi found that the amount of sleepless nights since that incident has at least gone down but when they came up, it was pretty awful and with his ability to not want to be a pain and to deal with his own issues had gone to do exactly that. Play games until one finally put him to sleep... or the train forced it, whichever came first.

But before he could do anything he paused.]

Working on your deck at this time of night?

[Ryou looks up at Yugi, then sighs and sets his deck down in front of him.]

Can't sleep tonight. You? [He takes a swig from his cup of coffee, which perhaps implies his issue is less that he can't sleep and more that he doesn't want to sleep.]

The coffee doesn't really help I'm sure.

[So it does give him some idea considering Kaiba does the same thing if one doesn't want to sleep. But Yugi went to sit down. His plan was to eventually go back to sleep before they are forced to. But whatever happened happens.]

Just sleeping issues, but I'll be fine. But the games room is always my go to place when I can't sleep.

I'll be fine. [He's handling it. He'll be fine, even if the only sleep he gets tonight is when the train knocks everyone out.]

You too? I come here sometimes when I can't sleep, just so I'm not laying in bed awake.

[Sometimes he works on Monster World game ideas. Sometimes he writes a letter to his sister. And tonight, it's messing with his Duel Monsters deck.]

I normally do to note wake Seto up if he is actually in bed during that time...

[Sometimes he isn't, usually somewhere doing something he was pretty sure of that, but sometimes he didn't like it, but was use to it.]

Besides you know me, I'm a games nut, so for me they are relaxing.

[Quatre was more familiar with the 3d printer. He had helped set up several pieces of technology on the ship so this was fairly simple]

That's correct. It has to have a pattern to tell it what you want to make, but once you tell it that, it will print the object. It does take some time since it layers to the materials up in order to make it.

Oh! [So that's how it works!]

What kind of patterns does it take, and where do you get them?

[He's very curious about this!]

I believe there are some here...

[He looked around where the printer was finally found it, a disk with the patterns]

Here, these are the ones we have.

[He plugged it in so Ryou could take a look at them if he wanted]

I'm sure others can be drawn up. It would just take some time. What were you interested in making?

[He watches as the disk is added, the potential patterns coming up to pick between. Ryou's response comes as he goes through the options, looking at what the machine can make.]

I was curious about how the printer worked, since we didn't have 3D printers in my world. I'd never seen one before.

[The wonders of being pretty much thrown into the future.]

[Quatre smiled, watching as he searched through the patterns]

Really? I'm glad that you can see this one. It's really quite fascinating. When you find the pattern you like, you can see it being made. If it is a large pattern, it might take some time.

It is. We have hologram tech - it really only came into being a few years ago - but we don't have 3D printers.

[Nodding, Ryou looks through the patterns, searching for something small. Quick to make, so he's not waiting too long. Eventually he finds a pattern for a small bowl. It's nothing fancy, but it'll do. And hey, maybe he can keep a few odds and ends in it in his cabin.]

...How about this?

Hologram tech. That's amazing. We don't quite have that in our world. The closest we got was a few of the mobile suits in my world.

[Quatre checked to see what the pattern was and nodded]

That's a good one.

Mobile suits? [Colour him curious about that. That is definitely not something his world has.

Glancing at the pattern again, Ryou recalls what he read when he'd scanned the instructions for the printer.]

Now I just need to add materials for the printer to use.

They are very large robots. We can sit in them and use them for mining, repairs, and fighting. We have gotten rid of the ones that were used for fighting.

[At the comment of needing the material, he moved to where the materials were]

Any specific color you'd want?

Whoa, that's neat! [Not the fighting part, but just in general.] I bet that's useful for doing things that humans can't do on their own.

[As for what colour Ryou would like, he stops and thinks for a bit.]

...Red. [He isn't picky, though.]

Yeah. They are very useful. Makes it easier to make repairs to the outside of ships. Fewer causalities that way.

Red it is then. [And he would pull out filament that would be used to make the bowl, loading it into the machine] When it is done, you will have a red bowl. It might require a little cleaning up, but a bowl should be easier than something with a lot of edges.

[Duo glanced over, staring at the thing for a moment.]

Looks like it.

[He moved closer, studying it for a second.]

Yup. That's it exactly.
